Chiefs/Giants Connections: DE Wallace Gilberry is the Secret Weapon
Here are your Kansas City Chiefs/New York Giants connections for this weekend's game, courtesy of the mothership.
I love seeing some Coffeyville, KS and some Maryille, MO repped in these connections today.
- Chiefs GM Scott Pioli is a native of Washingtonville, NY. He was a graduate asst. at Syracuse (’88-89) along with Chiefs asst. GM Joel Collier.
- Chiefs asst. head coach Maurice Carthon was a RB with the Giants (’85-
91), and was a member of New York’s Super Bowl XXI and XXV squads. - Kansas City TEs coach Bob Bicknell’s brother, Jack Bicknell, Jr. is
the N.Y. Giants asst. OL coach. - Kansas City DE Wallace Gilberry entered the NFL as a rookie free
agent with the Giants in 2008 and spent time on New York’s practice squad. - Giants secondary coach Peter Giunta (2001-05) and asst. special teams
coach Thomas McGaughey (2002) both spent time with the Chiefs. - N.Y. Giants K Lawrence Tynes spent three seasons with Kansas City
(2004-06) after entering the NFL as a rookie FA with the Chiefs in 2001. - Chiefs LB Tamba Hali prepped at Teaneck HS in Teaneck, NJ.
- Kansas City LB Jovan Belcher is a native of West Babylon, NY.
- Giants strength coach Jerry Palmieri coached at Kansas State (’87-92).
- N.Y. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs played at Coffeyville (KS) CC.

Out of curiosity, how many of you guys and girls are in New York now?

I might be in NY
But I’m in a KC state of mind.
I'm in New York ....
But I’m not “of” N.Y. [tip of the hat to nycchief’s great line]
Been living in this area (NJ, Queens, Long Island now) for going on 30 years, but have still celebrated and lamented with my Chiefs all these years. (The last few years have seemed a lot longer than most prior ones.)
I’m razzing my coworkers that Chiefs will rise up to be Giant-killers tomorrow. Giants are complacent (as they should be), but KC should be like a caged animal by now.
So c’mon, don’t let me down. Even if you lose every other game this season, a win now will keep me going and allow me to fend off the Blue Boys!
