This season has been a roller coaster ride of emotion. After the Ravens game it seemed that this year's team could show some promise. Their was a feeling that we were a few plays away from a big upset and could be a surprise team this year. After the hated Raider game we were experiencing deja vu. We saw a glimpse of last years team ...one that found a way to lose games they should of won. Still after the game their was a feeling that we just might be moving in the right direction. After Philly their seems to be the feeling that we are nowhere near where we need to be and maybe we should give up on this year and even play for a high draft pick in next years draft.
First off it is important to remember that a team is never as good as they look in a win... or as bad as they look in a loss. In most games you can point to one or two plays that the game turned on. The difference in talent levels on any given position is so small that a lot of times it comes down to the mental side of the game that makes the difference. Most championship teams can point to one game that turned around a team or season. While I would agree that we might not be where we would like to be in regards to skill level or game breaking players. I can also point out teams loaded with all the talented players in the world often fail to live up to expectations... the Cowboy's comes to mind.
I am not ready to give up on this season and don't feel the team is either. In years past we would have stood pat with the team we broke camp with. This management is very pro active. I choose to believe this glass is half full. A common denominator with success has always been a good ownership and front office that has a strong desire to succeed. A recent analys was done linking all championship teams and what they had in common. It came down to a strong belief by the coaching staff and players that they could win . I believe that Haley has the mental attitude that this team needs. We have added a few players this year that expect to win. We could be alot closer than it seems to be. I am looking forward to this year and believe that this could be the year we look back as the beginning of championships to come.
