Where will the Chiefs pick in 2010 1st Round

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us             Image Hosted by ImageShack.us           Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

A little different take on the Woeful ones this week. I am going to predict that Miami, Seattle, and Buffalo the current 10-12 spots will win enough games to become a non-issue in the fortunes of Our Kansas City Chiefs this year. I also will now rank the teams battling for the top Draft pick in 2010 draft in proper order.

 1. St. Louis Rams                    0-7  @Detroit, @Tennessee
 2. Tampa Bay Bucanneers    0-7  @Carolina
 3. Tennessee Titans               0-6  @SF, Buffalo, St. Louis
 4. Kansas City Chiefs             1-6  Cleveland, @Oakland
 5. Cleveland Browns               1-6  @Detroit, @KC, Oakland
 6. Detroit Lions                         1-5  Cleveland, St. Louis
 7. Oakland Raiders                 2-5  KC, Washington, @Cleveland
 8. Washington FC                    2-5  @Oakland
 9. Carolina Panthers               2-4  Miami, Tampa Bay

Key Matchups as the season winds down:

Nov  1 St. Louis @ Detroit
Nov 15 Kansas City @ Oakland
 Nov 19 Miami @ Carolina
 Nov 22 Cleveland @ Detroit
Dec  6 Tampa Bay @ Carolina
Dec 13 St. Louis @ Tennessee
 Dec 13 Washington @ Oakland
Dec 20 Cleveland @ Kansas City
 Dec 27 Oakland @ Cleveland

Interesting side note is that Atlanta appears capable of making the Playoffs with 10 or 11 wins. So the 2nd round pick for TG might end up in the upper 20's, or outside the top-50 players. I imagine that St. Louis can use about anyone in the 1st pick, but QB should be at top of their list. Tampa might too if Josh Freeman gets time and doesn't look like the QB of the future. A possible CB to replace Rondee Barber, and/or a big playmaking DT from Nebraska. Tennesseee probably needs to replace Collins at QB, But Berry at safety from Rocky Top might get a look. Plus, Fisher's replacement might want a new QB to start a New Era in Nashville.

i followed it...

He’s assuming the chiefs want Berry (and I HOPE they do!)

He’s looking at the draft order, to see what teams might grab our guy

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Ok, then. The title doesnt fit

Where will the chiefs pick in the 2010 1st round doesnt convert to who will pick eric berry, at least to me.

play fair now...lol

Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!

I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

draft strategy

IF Berry and Okung are taken by the time the Chiefs pick, I would STRONGLY be in favor of trading down, if possible.

If they could pick up an extra 2nd and or 3rd round pick, and still snag a guy like Trent Williams, OT, Charles Brown, OT, Brandon Spikes, MLB… then stock up in rd 2…

Cody, NT; Decker, WR; Gilyard, WR; O’Dowd, C; Black, OT; Lupati, G…. lots of 2nd/3rd round talent.

Guys like Gresham, TE; Kindle, OLB; Witherspoon, OLB and others could fall into the 2nd creating great value picks

Agree, But if we are in the Berry sweepstakes then Probably no one would trade with us.

Also I see Iupati is getting talked about as a Tackle now and might go towards bottom of 1st round.

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

well... there may be more QB hungry teams...

that’s the most likely scenario for someone to trade up, IMO

I actually think this year might be a little different

Maybe I am crazy, with with the QB class being a little stronger than last year, and the relative success of the jets moving up to take sanchez, I think there might be more opportunities than last year to trade down. Seen talk of Jacksonville needing to trade up to take Tebow – not because he is the best available at that slot, but they got to put some florida buts in the seats to keep the team.

by paxi on Oct 30, 2009 6:29 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree

If Berry is gone, I hope the Chiefs can trade down even if Okung is still on the board. If Bulaga, Campbell and Davis all declare early, there will be quality OT prospects left into round 2. I personally like Bulaga, Campbell, Charles Brown, and Jason Fox if a LT is a need after the second half of the season. I don’t think Okung is significantly superior to any of those guys and we could get them mid-late 1st, if we trade down or even top of the second round, if we get Berry.

by chrisclark_dfw on Oct 29, 2009 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agree, Might be better to get that dominating Interior O-lineman early 2nd

Kinda leads back to if Berry is gone, who is worth the top 5 pick?
Suh or what

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

that's the question...

I’m not sure who else I’d want…
Suh is the man, but he’d be a 3-4 DE… and Lord knows, I’m tired of top 5 picks on those guys!

by stagdsp on Oct 29, 2009 3:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly...

Suh is really the only other guy I think would be a value pick and fit our scheme. I just can’t see us taking a DL in the top 10 again. Unless Dorsey is traded in the offseason.

by chrisclark_dfw on Oct 29, 2009 3:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

value pick?

I didn’t know there was such a thing in the top 5.

If we want to trade down

we need to win some games. We’re not trading out of a top 5 pick. No one’s gonna trade up to get a QB this year. There are too many first round talents at QB available, it won’t be necessary.

I'm officially on the 'Draft Eric Berry' train.

I think the titans will not be drafting ahead of us

They will win more games than us this year. They are switching QB’s and they still have a guy named Chris Johnson.

They have some winnable games the 3 mentioned

but they have regressed since the Pittsburgh loss each week

they did lose 59-0...

they are playing terrible… they could be right in the hunt for a top 5 pick

but, EVERY team on that list above could be 4-12 or worse… so, it’s a tossup at this point

and draft Suh. A NT won’t come out like him in a looong time

that's the big question

I agree that he’s probably not a NT… but, if he was… that’d be sweet.

I think he goes to Tampa at #2

Actaully...

If you think about it, Tampa really doesn’t play the same Tampa 2 defense like they did with Sapp. Their DT’s are usually block eaters allowing the DEs to make plays. Not sure if Suh fits into their defense. Tenn on the other hand, is clearly missing Fat Albert, Suh makes more sense to Tenn than it does to Tampa.

We could go a million different directions...

We could target one side of the ball or just draft bpa every pick…..its hard to tell. Pioli’s last few drafts has seen a large % of bust that are no longer with the team. Hopefully he can turn that around.

to be fair

all of Pioli’s 2009 draft picks are with the team…

only 3 of them are getting any playing time… but they are all with the organization

When they lost to the Pats 59-0

Their secondary had like 2 Rookies, 1 UDFA, and 1 third year player…Somehow that seems familiar

Agree it looks possible to get some wins

Depends on how Vince Young plays.
Most of my assumption was based on just a straight line digression since weeks one and two. I like Fisher, good coach, have no idea what is the issue. They do need a QB even if he is only a Project.
