Enough of Larry, new start.

We need to seriously let the whole Larry Johnson thing work itself out and look at our new possibilities. I am one that said a couple weeks ago we need to run three running backs a game. If you noticed, Larry carries most of the time, then maybe Charles two or three times and Savage once and Battle once.

Take Larry out of the equation totally. Lets start Charles. Even Haley says he is getting it so he deserves it. He was saying at the beginning of the year he wanted the job. Smith may be healthy to go now. Split him and Charles running the ball (which I believe will be a great combo). Plus Charles is getting more yards per gain than Larry but of course not as many touches. I think these two backs would be a good change of pace of the game.

Savage needs more carries than one or two a game. This guy looked great in preseason. He had the play of the game against St. Lewis. They couldn't bring the guy down. He would be great in short yardage.

All in all we give the rock to Charles and Smith and try to get it outside once in a while, then run Savage right at them at least 5 times per game starting out. I feel that the rest of the season could go out on a positive note if we get three of these backs going. They all are chomping at the bit to take over for Larry so lets let them all try out for the job for the rest of the season.

They still need to make a change with the 0-line

I agree with all the comments that LJ needs to go and also that the 3 backs pounding the ball but they have to do something about the O-Line.

They need to go back to the arrowspread and run the pistol...

LJ had more yards per carry in that formation with our inept o-line. That would open up the running and passing game more and then we could have a more threatening offense.

There's no hope with dope...

Going back to the ArrowSpread would be a regression for this team. Pioli and Haley want to build consistant winners. Going back to the ArrowSpread would be just like giving up. Shouldn’t happen and won’t happen.

"whoa, dangerous throw"

That’s all we would hear after Cassel runs around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to find a wide out thats open….. No thanks! Pistol formation suited Thiggy, in no way would it fit Cassel and even if it did, like Nick said “Shouldn’t happen and won’t happen”

by rdubz on Oct 28, 2009 10:38 PM CDT up reply actions

A regression?

A regression from what? Jack sh!t? Pardon me…I don’t mean to be rude but if you haven’t noticed…WE SUCK!! We have a VERY talented QB and WR core that can’t do crap because of a sh!ty O-line. That was the same problem last year (and Thiggy wasn’t comfortable in the NFL standard offense) but from what I’ve seen of Cassel is that he is A LOT MORE CONFIDENT IN THE SHOTGUN then he is behind center. Why? because he has more opportunity to make the play then being behind center. If you’ve noticed, our best drives…and pretty much our only drives, that we’ve made on offense that was worth a damn was in the shotgun formation. I don’t say to go to the Arrowspread to be a regression but that’s what we’ve come to. Cassel can be the QB under center but our O-line can’t be that type of O-line. We’ve regressed ourselves to this, not the other way around. It’s not Cassel’s fault or Haley’s fault or Pioli’s…(well, kinda Pioli’s because he had a chance to pick up a couple standout FA’s but didn’t)…it’s what we are right now and we gotta go with what can give us the best chance to win…

And, by the way rdubz, you can corrrect me if I’m wrong, (and I probably am), but Thigpen wasn’t in the pistol. The pistol formation was where the runningback was and it suited LJ just fine with the type of O-line we had last year. Again, you can correct me if I’m wrong.

There's no hope with dope...

O-line

really cant be fixed til the offseason. So this is what I think they could do now. Just something to try and maybe take a little bit off the Cassel. Anything is worth a try now.

RB is the most overrated position in the league

If you can block and execute well, the RB will have huge numbers. I don’t care who you are, if you have NFL speed and can hold onto the football you can gain 1,300+ yards in a season behind a really good line. Larry Johnson had alot of talent, but he also had one of the best O-Lines ever. Don’t get me wrong, Adrian Peterson will always be better than Olandis Gary behind any line, but a good O-Line will make things awfully close.

The sad thing also

is that our defense has continued to give up the BIG PLay for years and years now. So of course that dont help the offense out at all. Your play calling playing from behind changes.

What if

Larry had said, you fat, lazy imbeciles please get out. Would we be talking about this? Hasn’t it been blown out of proportion. Haley’s probably heard the “tennis boy” thing before.

He (Larry) will get another chance and they’ll pretend Cassel is still a great QB too.

It's not all about his twitter comments.

If that was his first offense. I would have no problem letting it go. However, this is becoming a half-annual occurrence. LJ just cannot stay out of trouble. Plus, he is ineffective now.

Time to make a Charles/Smith/Savage tandem out of our running game. It should get more than 2.7YPC. Each one of those RBs should get more than 2.7YPC actually.

by ChiefsFan90s on Oct 28, 2009 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Haley said the players have a clean slate

So it was his first offense.

Predictions for 2009:

LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6

I agree for the most part...

It is definately time to move on. I think, one of the biggest concerns will be who handles the blocking responsibilties the best. In the past, LJ was horrible at blitz pickups, but this year he was doing the job. Charles sure needs to block a little better than he did on special teams last week.

Not sure I’d have Savage as the short yardage back, he’s like 5’-8" 182. That’s not exactly bruiser specs.

by chrisclark_dfw on Oct 28, 2009 10:30 PM CDT reply actions

Javarris Williams or Kolby

on short yardage situations. Williams is a bruiser for sure, & Kolby is more Priest-like, uses his eyes & would be good for screens, or swing passes on blitzing downs

I want a REFUND

After all NFL is for entertainment purposes. We paid Cassel millions, Pioli millions, they sold us that they were not rebuilding in 2009. They brought in veterans because they want to win now!

Since we are not winning. I say let Cassel go loose – throw the damn ball – who cares if he throws picks. Peyton Manning threw 24 INTs in 1998. Aikman got sack like 50x as a rookie. Let Cassel have some fun and us fans be entertain. Despite 2-14 last year, I have to admit that with Thigpen running around putting up points, moving the chains, it was entertaining.

This year’s squad is dead boring and produce no entertainment value whatsoever even in that win vs. Redskins, it was puking.

Predictions as of 06.24.2009.

Larry Johnson will be a top 3 fantasy pick once again in 2010 (after a monster season in 2009.)
Dwayne Bowe will be a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon Flowers will have at least 6 INTs in 2009 season.
Todd Haley will have a sideline shouting match caught on TV yelling at one of his asst. coaches.

absolutely 58....I agree...

They shouldn’t have made promises they had no way to uphold. The fact is they DID say they weren’t in rebuilding mode and that they intended to compete this year.

Which in fact is true…we are compting for the worst record and the worst overall stats of any other NFL team….GO CHIEFS!!

We can't let loose without time...

…the line is “letting loose” of defenders…right at cassel!

The funny part is...

in the end…all we really want is to be wrong. If your not on the band wagon right now like a lot of us aren’t.. ALL we want is to be wrong.

We want to have it thrown in our faces when we go 11-5 and finally win a playoff game. Please, put us down, make fun of us, tell us how wrong we were, cuz that’s what we want.

In the end we all want the same thing. We squablle over nothing. It’s opinions and opinions belong to the owner of the opinion and nobody else. So no one is wrong for their opinion. Just a lot of you aren’t right. (-:

They don't want to be wrong about LJ

They would prefer he have a 2000 yard season else where than break their precess Priest Holmes record…Not that you know Priest was exactly a model citizen with all his baby momma drama. Of course you can put your head in the sand and pretend that Larry is some terrible guy and Priest was well a priest but it isnt true.

Predictions for 2009:

LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6

by bonesjackson on Oct 29, 2009 9:17 AM CDT up reply actions

BUT

Priest didn’t get suspende and hurt his team like this. Getting suspended is unforgiveable. The money they get paid, they could hire someone to keep them in line. No excuse to be an asshole and let your mates down cause your ego is so big.

If he thinks he’s bigger than the team…let him go!
Priest came to work!! He suited up and showed up!
