Thanks Larry Johnson

This is not going to be a negative post, so if anybody is going to say something negative about Larry Johnson then don't bother posting because I'm pretty sure that we have seen it all.

IF you are cut from the team, which i suspect will happen, I want to thank you for the seasons you were with us. Yes, you did some immature things and yes, you should have acted better. But, in the end you were still a great Running Back for us for a couple seasons. You stood up and showed everybody that you could take the load when Priest got hurt and you showed everybody what you had (9+ straight 100 yard games, 1,700+ rushing yards back to back, multiple rushing TD's). Things didn't roll your way season after season ( Broken foot, Wildcat Offense, and now you probably have the worst Offensive Line in the league). Just wanting to say thank you for the good, the bad, and the ugly, because in the end you were still a Chief and I am still your fan. Good luck to wherever you go.

No more like..

Damn you Larry Johnson for being an embarassment to the city of Kansas City and its Chiefs.

Larry just needs

say he’s mad and pissed off. Not go make gay slurs and get into with fans on the net. I have said all along that I only seen him run mad (like the good ol days) in two games. But didnt do it the whole game. Goes down too easy. Injury is whats in his mind.

Tomlinson and Portis

Made everyone aware that they are mad without bashing or getting into it with fans or media.

Is there such a thing as a negative rec?

Not dissing the author… just the subject matter. Thanks for a couple of good seasons. And many millions of dollars, headaches, team dissention, etc.

why would we thank him

for the bad and ugly?

I didn't mean it like that. I'm saying even though there was the bad and the ugly (bad meaning not producing anymore)

and the ugly meaning- what he did off the field…regardless im still going to thank him for his time in KC.

thanks herm

for taking us to the playoffs with Vermeils team…and then destroying us

by tomahawk44 on Oct 28, 2009 1:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

most of the good young players we have now are here only BECAUSE of Herm

Carl let the team get old, Herm had to blow it up LAST YEAR and go with the youth … get off Herm, willya? go look at last year’s draft, when Herm was the one picking … then tell me he “destroyed” the team … sorry but I gotta call BS on that one

Exactly.

Whoever the coach was, it still would have been the same outcome. Somebody had to start the rebuilding process so regardless if it was herm or not, it still would have been the same.

Herm was trying to do the right thing with the youth movement

But, that doesn’t mean he’s not a shitty, awful coach with horribly outdated ideas of NFL offenses. Because he is.

Hey for real upamtn...

I gotta say something in defense of Herm. Lousy lousy head coach…terrible head coach…BUT…in all seriousness, I think he can sure draft good…I don’t doubt his ability to scout…and I’m not being a smartass. I agree about his drafting, I don’t think he sucks at that aspect.

Defensively he is a very very good coach…just not head coach material.

no huge argument there ... just finished a comment some other thread about much the same thing

deal is, he knew his personnel, esp on Defense … and yeah he was TERRIBLE on gameday sideline decisions like clock management (kinda like Haley) but he knew his weakness on Offense and had the sense to hire Chan Gailey and let his OC run that side of things (unlike Haley)

honestly, I think that we’d have been better off keeping Herm as HC but a new DC (bye Gunther!) and a “sideline assistant” for gamedays – like a “bench coach” in baseball for the manager

Asst: Herm, call a timeout
Herm: hey ref … we want a timeout!
Ref: you got it (blows whistle) – timeout Kansas City
Asst: good job, Herm

followed by ...

Mitch and the Chiefs call a timeout with 1:27 left in the first half
Len and a good timeout it is, NOW they can set up their offense, call a few plays …

I would have like

Pioli to have retained Herm as a defensive consultant or DB coach. He did a real awesome job under Dungy in TB.

In my mind, Haley should be our OFF coordinator and Herm the DEF coordinator.

Just too bad, Clark Hunt lured Pioli instead of Belichik….

Ok…around beer #7 and you start to hallucinate, if u wanna continue to cheer this squad on – i have admit, i gotta stock the fridge

Predictions as of 06.24.2009.

Larry Johnson will be a top 3 fantasy pick once again in 2010 (after a monster season in 2009.)
Dwayne Bowe will be a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon Flowers will have at least 6 INTs in 2009 season.
Todd Haley will have a sideline shouting match caught on TV yelling at one of his asst. coaches.

I've never understood that logic.

How do we know WHO drafted who? Are picks labeled “Carl” or “Herm”? Or are we (more likely) looking at our best players and saying “Yes, that was a Herm guy; no, that bust, he was a Carl guy”?

/honest question, no offense

Its clear enough

Clark forced out CP because Herm sold Clark to go young. When CP realized Herm had gotten Clark behind him, CP knew his days were done.

2008 draft was a lot of Herm and hardly any CP.

No...no..no

you dont have to complete gut everybody to rebuild. I mean they even cut our all pro FB Richardson. Why? is that a position that MUST stay young? They did it retarded style and now nobody knows what it means or feels to win

Thanks Larry......

……..for your on field performance of 2005 and 2006. We were truly lucky to have retained your services.

Too bad about how you rand your mouth, acted like a child, abused women, berated the community, city, and the team off the field………We were truly lucky to have won the arbitration against you.

Thanks front office……for resigning and giving Larry yet another chance after LJ had already proven that he couldn’t support any coach of the team post Vermeil. It can’t be possible that it was Larry’s fault in any way. After all, no one liked Gunthar, Herm, or Haley. It’s obvious that acting like a spoiled brat and berating the ONE GUY in the NFL that was willing to give you a chance to ressurect your career. Haley—-What a jerk! /sarcasm off

Thanks in advance league office / court system……for once again ruling in favor of the Chiefs in the upcomming arbitration that is sure to happen. We can’t wait to be rid of this malcontent, but first we’d like to punish him in the only way he seems to comprehend; Hitting him in the pocketbook.

Hmmmm

Larry ran well behind one of the best lines in the history of the NFL.

Then Roaf retired

Larry still ran well, because we still had an amazing interior line (Waters, Weigmann, Shields) and LJ is an inside runner.

Then Shields retired

Larry has been unimpressive ever since.

Hmmmmm
Larry ran well behind one of the best lines in the history of the NFL.

I forgot just how terrible the offensive line was when “Can’t take a hit” Priest was playing.

Predictions for 2009:

LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6
