27 days ago: San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson (83) catches a touchdown pass in front of Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers (24) during the first half of an NFL football game Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in Kansas City, Mo. (AP Photo/Charlie Riedel)

This is not a pretty football game, Kansas City Chiefs fans. The Chargers lead 20 to 0. The Chiefs have 68 total yards of offense and have given up 311 yards to the Chargers already.

Here are some more first half stats:

Chiefs

  • QB Matt Cassel: 4/10, 30 yards
  • RB Larry Johnson: 8 carries, 28 yards
  • RB Jamaal Charles: 1 carry, 15 yards
  • WR Bobby Wade: 2 receptions, 22 yards
  • WR Lance Long: 1 reception, 7 yards

Chargers

  • QB Philip Rivers: 13/21, 186 yards, 2 TDs
  • RB LaDainian Tomlinson: 14 carries, 66 yards
  • RB Darren Sproles: 5 carries, 41 yards
  • WR Vincent Jackson: 5 receptions, 142 yards, 1 TD
  • TE Antonio Gates: 3 receptions, 34 yards

Do the Chiefs have any hope of turning this around in the second half?

Not just a shitty line...

Cassel makes plays with his legs too…you are forgeting that… When he has time he can make the pass. He does make mistakes and holds on to the ball too long. He has positives and negatives. He is playing well….not great.

I like a lot about Cassel

I think he’s shown that he may very well be our QBOTF that could lead us to a championship. But he’s also shown that he’s a young QB than needs some coaching, too. This is why I wish Haley would get a QB coach and just stick to being HC and OC. I really hope he finds one over the bye week.

Haley nut kicker

I will stand behind Haley during every game and give him a from-behind kick in the nuts every time he calls a HB draw on 3rd down. There have been 3 failed 3rd down HB draws so far this game, plus countless ones on the season. It pisses me off to no end every time he calls that damn play.

the offense is inept and can’t stay on the field. But too bad, you guys can’t get off the field. Every game there’s a big play against us. That’s the fault of our safeties, who are supposed to be our security blanket.

Agreed that Clancy is doing a poor job too...

Our CB’s played better last year. And we got rid of Pollard because he gave up the big play. We bench Page. And what exactly are McGraw and Brown doing out there. Giving up big plays. For weeks I’ve been saying that the only reason our defense struggles is because the offense can’t stay on the field. Now I think that even if the offense stayed on the field, the defense blows it, particularly on 3rd down.

I'm ready for that guy to go away

Can’t block and now tosses INTs to the D. Let’s get a blocking TE and forget him.

372 yards given up on D thus far. 3 minutes to go in the 3rd

We are on pace to give up nearly 500 yds…AGAIN.

Erykah Badu, I have accepted your proposal. So, Mrs. DTR, let's get to consummating...you are on notice.

Cassel sucks

not for the INT, but for all the shitty passes he threw before that…2 that could have been TD’s

Nah he's right

Now it’ll go to “Cassel is playing weel because he has no INT’s except the one Ryan dropped”.
