Chargers Dominate Chiefs in First Half
This is not a pretty football game, Kansas City Chiefs fans. The Chargers lead 20 to 0. The Chiefs have 68 total yards of offense and have given up 311 yards to the Chargers already.
Here are some more first half stats:
Chiefs
- QB Matt Cassel: 4/10, 30 yards
- RB Larry Johnson: 8 carries, 28 yards
- RB Jamaal Charles: 1 carry, 15 yards
- WR Bobby Wade: 2 receptions, 22 yards
- WR Lance Long: 1 reception, 7 yards
Chargers
- QB Philip Rivers: 13/21, 186 yards, 2 TDs
- RB LaDainian Tomlinson: 14 carries, 66 yards
- RB Darren Sproles: 5 carries, 41 yards
- WR Vincent Jackson: 5 receptions, 142 yards, 1 TD
- TE Antonio Gates: 3 receptions, 34 yards
Do the Chiefs have any hope of turning this around in the second half?

The Chiefs were actually good the last time Kenny Smith has played in a game. Gives you an idea of how long ago that was. lol
Enough is enough
All Derrick Johnson does is when he is in the game is make big plays.

I dont agree at all…Ill say there is no one better at LB for KC outside belcher, but DJ is NOT a player that just makes plays, he makes a play, then makes mistakes….this is a fact..

Maybe
Cassel should sit this year to keep our investment safe? He’s taking some hits, and I’d hate to lose our franchise guy
he should sit
because he’s a CAREER BACKUP

Backing up two Heisman winners
and a future Hall of Famer. Yeah, fuck him for not being able to start over those guys.
there's a reason

If he was backup to a bum, you'd have a point
But because he didn’t start over two Heisman winners and of the best NFL QBs of all time is not proof that he sucks.
Could it be
because he was playing behind TWO HIESMAN WINNERS AND A FUTURE HALL OF FAMER?
Nah, probably not.

any other QB would be turning it over 4-5 times a game…get out of here with the cassel hate

I like the play calling on that series
THey need to make SD back off a bit. I’ve been waiting for that all game long.
Erykah Badu, I have accepted your proposal. So, Mrs. DTR, let's get to consummating...you are on notice.

O Line doesn't deserve any blame on that series

cassel fucked up that drive
plain and simple….charles missed the long pass..no biggie….then Cassel misses a freaking wide open wade (again) with time. That was going to be a Huge gainer too

Hopefully things will open up underneath with the deep throws.
Glad to see Haley taking some chances.
we're losing
the special teams battle this week. Charles is doing decent, but Sproles is doing better, their kicker is doing better, and their punter is doing better. Gotta get this back on track ASAP
D. Williams looks pretty good today

Some confusion in the secondary, it seems...

No - it was a jaihouse blitz and Rivers beat it

No, but all the LBs did so the DBs had to cover a the whole field 4 wide

Our blitzes always look poorly timed
The LBs always tip it so the QB gets a good read.

Why? We need a safety. A TALENTED safety.
by SupremeChief on Oct 25, 2009 2:18 PM CDT up reply actions
Berry isn't necessarily the best option at safety
and we’ve got a lot of options considering the talent available and how many holes we need to fill.
Bask in the glory that is Kwame Harris. Poor Alex...
we have had at least 4 TD's scored on us this year
on that EXACT same blitz….
here’a a fucking hint…stop using it
Clancy blitzed the safety again....
Thats four times leading to pass plays 40+ each time, I hope you guys see this as obviously as I do. Clacny does not deserve his job.
so much for that extra day

I'm done making excused for this D. Yes,
the offense is inept and can’t stay on the field. But too bad, you guys can’t get off the field. Every game there’s a big play against us. That’s the fault of our safeties, who are supposed to be our security blanket.
delayed blitz
rivers saw brown creeping. he should have aborted.
Mcgraw missed the tackle
Against Dallas, Brown got burned twice.

Agreed that Clancy is doing a poor job too...
Our CB’s played better last year. And we got rid of Pollard because he gave up the big play. We bench Page. And what exactly are McGraw and Brown doing out there. Giving up big plays. For weeks I’ve been saying that the only reason our defense struggles is because the offense can’t stay on the field. Now I think that even if the offense stayed on the field, the defense blows it, particularly on 3rd down.
