Chiefs 23, Chargers 20
Kansas City is 14-5 at home vs. San Diego since 1990. Add this game to the Chief’s win column as there fails to be a good reason to pick the Chargers to win a game right now. They aren’t good. Now hurry up and scroll down to read the intern’s pick and you’ll understand why he’s an intern. I bet he picks the Chargers.

SDNN's breakdown by positions:
Similar to the main post and how I found it. They like the Chiefs in several areas including O Line:
K.C. does tout four-time Pro Bowler Brian Waters and 12-year veteran and former Charger Mike Goff, whom A.J. Smith probably regrets letting get away right about now.

Horrible Statement
Goff is by far the worst part of our O-Line!!
It is a new Era at Arrowhead. I do not yet know if it is one of greatness or one of ineptitude. I am excited to see which way it goes, and will support my team until the end, bitter or sweet!

I think Goff wouldnt look as bad...
Without a pylon next to him at center and a revolving door on the other side of him at tackle. I think we’ve been too hard on him and forgot the little fact that on an oline how good you appear weighs heavily on who’s standing beside you.

I'm not a Goff fan by any stretch of the imagination
But he looked pretty good run blocking in the Washington game.
Week 7 Prediction:
Kansas City Chiefs 77 - San Diego Chargers 2

That should show you how much credibility the SDNN people have.

That statement about Goff
has the same ring to it when they talk about Sackintosh starting at LT for the Seahawks

FYI the san diego media=fair weather charger fans
some of their “thinking KC can win” comes from thinking their chargers will self destruct.
by SDChief on Oct 23, 2009 12:16 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
They are completely fairweather.
When I was there a couple of years ago, most fans knew who Philip Rivers, Ladainian, and Roid-man were, and that they were 14-2. These fans are not like us. Very little actual football knowledge, and no real dedication.

That's because
whether their team is great or awful, it’s pretty much always nice living in SD.
by jmcgoblue on Oct 23, 2009 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
heh it is nice here indeed
but it is a fact, Gonzo is right…its BAD here, worst fans ive come across…they arent loyal, AND they are rude to opposing fans…no respect, not even if you had your 4 year old daughter with you, they will still curse at you for having a ticket to see the wonderful chargers play….well to them evidently there isnt another team to root for.
of course unless they stink, then its half full and no one cares.
by SDChief on Oct 23, 2009 1:52 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's okay.
A lot of our thinking KC can win comes from thinking the Chargers will self-destruct.

I may be wrong, but I think he’s at every game. At least I’ve seen him there the last couple times I’ve been.

Yeah, I think he gets on the big board a couple times a game.

I guess John at BFTB doesn't count as San Diego Media
It’s no secret that I think these two Kansas City Chiefs games this season will be easy wins for the San Diego Chargers. I don’t buy into the mystique and I don’t buy into last year’s close games determining how these games will go.
Week 7 Prediction:
Kansas City Chiefs 77 - San Diego Chargers 2

thats amazing
we havent let SD walk all over us in awhile…its been close games, and we have won a few times…I dont get it, we HAD both games last year, we lost one because of a freaking extra point.

I have to take Chargers pessimism with a grain of salt...
they seem so much more doomer and gloomier than Chiefs fans can be. Going into the season they were considered favorites and now that it is not showing, they believe the whole world is ending.
I have hopes Chiefs can win this, but reading Charger columnists predicting a Chiefs win neither raises or lessen my hopes. They have no credibility to take into account.

+1
Grain of salt.
I still think the Chiefs are going to walk away with a W this week though.

I dont get where we're terrible against the run.
We may be terrible against big plays which do occasionally include running plays but I think our run defense has actually been pretty stout this year especially in the first half when its most important.

statistically speaking
it’s among the worst. But I agree, it doesn’t seem to look that bad when watching the games. I think a few big runs end up killing us.

Looking at the games...
Washington: take out the long run where there was a blattant hold on a player that couldve made the play or just account it as a “big play” and we give up 30 yards rushing on 19 carries.
Dallas: we gave up less then 50 first half rushing yards and without two big runs by Choice we wouldve been well under 100 yards.
Giants: this game was a mess and our run D followed that trend. Wasnt a good game.
Raiders: for all the talk about their “potent” running attack we held them to 67 yards for the game.
Ravens: the Ravens did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted to us for most of the day.
So two bad games skew the stats a bit but especially in this case the Charger running game isnt exactly elite, theyre actually last in the league whereas the teams we fell victim to were ranked #2 and #8 respectively.

I think the run D is actually a STRENGTH of this current team
Yeah, a couple of bad games have skewed our stats but overall, this team has been pretty damn stout against the run game. I don’t know if LT is playing or not but, He and sproles are going to be in for a long day.
They will abandon the run by the second quarter and it will just be Rivers trying to sling it around the yard. LT is gonna be PISSED by the end of the game.

Chiefs win big baby 27-10
Mortensen picked us and he actually has the most games picked correctly out of all the ESPN ‘experts’

I think that if the Chargers beat us its because of Rivers….man I hate that guy

AFC West
Too bad we havent had our bye week yet, otherwise if we beet san diego, oakland looses we could go into a 3 way tie for second in afc west at 2-4. But bye week is next week. so if we win , 2-5 we are, 1 game loss from second. Oh well I’m still happy with our bye week placement, after our NFC East schedule and before our more relaxed side of the sched, excluding Pittsburgh.
