LA ______?
I have been hearing all day long how the Govenator just approved a bill to construct a 75,000 seat stadium in Los Angeles. Jason LaCanfore just stated that the NFL will review the entire financing package and that they are going to target up to 6 teams.
I know San Diego is trying to get a new stadium, everyone knows the Rams are for sale, and Jacksonville is about to start playing games in Orlando. So what does AP think? What team is going to become the new LA Whatevers? Will the Chargers or the Raiders or the Rams return? What other teams could possibly go out west? And do you think that team will remain there?
Remember California alone is like the 6th strongest economy on the planet. If they present a good case to the NFL brass i would wager to say they may possibly move someone there and the Chiefs could once again be playing in LA.

If I had to pick today
I’d say the Rams. They’re for sale, don’t have a die hard fan base, they have a history in LA, and they’re already in the NFC west so it would cut down some of their travel.
It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

What's up with the Rams' deal with the city of St. Louis?
Didn’t the city sign a horrible deal (for the city, not the team) to get the Rams to move after St. Louis’ ownership group failed at getting an expansion team the year the NFL added Carolina and Jacksonville? If I remember properly, the city guaranteed the Rams a certain amount of profit a year ($20 million maybe?) or the city would make up the difference. I would imagine the city might not really mind seeing the Rams go.

part of the proposal for the stadium
includes upgrades to the highways and stuff around the site. Also, a lot of stuff is included in the site like shops and hotels etc, its not just a stadium being build there. It’s actually a pretty neat deal they have proposed

The freeway over there is awful!!!!
It’s going to be a nightmare. I’m sure glad I don’t live over that way anymore

Artist renderings always look like that.
The rolling roof Arrrowhead drawings looked like a theme park as well. There were balloons and fireworks in that drawing if I recall.

St Louis or Jacksonville for sure.
Their fans don’t really care that much so, I would bet that it will be one of them. Probably St Louis.

Agree.
I could see Jacksonville leaving, they hardly get anyone to show up for their games.

Probably not Jacksonville, well...
Not like it hasn’t happened in the past, but the Jaguars owner has sworn up and down that he won’t move out of Florida.
However, you can’t blame him for changing his mind when they can’t sell out the stadium for any game.
If I had to place a bet on it, I would say it will either be San Diego or St. Louis.

Oakland
Although your right it does look like a disney park, and the raiders retarded “black hole” will look like they’re outta place, I think Oakland will move there. It’s a shame, such nice things and one day they will be rioted on and destroyed by the thugs, many called Oakland “fans”

Rams
I hope it’s the Rams so that there won’t be any type of shakeup as far as who is in which division.
by zbschiefs on Oct 22, 2009 4:40 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
i could see St. Louis
i didnt post it up there but i feel its them, the TWA Jones whatever they call it is horrible! Do they even have a sellout there or do they just bring inmates from the local jails and juvenile centers in to fill the seats?
I know Jax is having a problem filling seats but my gut tell me they will be the LA Rams again. If they keep the Ram name at all.

the los angeles border jumpers
la crips, la bloods, la we will give you an iou for your tax returns, la trafficjams, la smogalerts, those are all better names than keeping the rams name around

don't forget the 49ers
They have expressed interest as well. I can see Oakland, San Diego or SF making the move just to get a new stadium in their current city. Move to LA, force the issue at home then move back.
Rams aren’t likely if Checketts gets the team because of rules around owning different franchises in different cities.
Go Chiefs – things can only get better.

The chargers will move back to LA where they belong
Oakland won’t move back there ever…LA won’t support them. Rams are a close second behind the chargers. Both of those moves won’t have any divisional shakeups and are most likely to be approved by the NFL. 49ers are a wildcard in this….
by KCCheeze on Oct 22, 2009 5:05 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
then what about the Rams
as i said at the top of the comments i heard somone in England wanted to buy them. Im trying to look it up to support that comment but cant find it. did anyone else here that rumor?

as i said
Rams are a close second…there are a few groups trying to buy them at the moment. Doesn’t necessarily mean they will move though…but they could

i just feel the sd and sanfran fanbases are to strong
granted sd fanbase is fair weather and would forget about the chargers in 12 hours i just think the rams are the likely choice
by jrcnc on Oct 22, 2009 5:16 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
the LA market
is much, much larger than the SD market…plus its only about 2.5 to 3 hrs travel between the 2 cities. Many charger fans live in LA anyways and the proposed sites near SD for a new stadium are pretty terrible. This really makes sense for the team.
by KCCheeze on Oct 22, 2009 10:33 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rams all the way!
Get them outa the midwest, we dont need to have any crap teams near us trying to rub off any bad play on us. I heard they will have a big balloon floating over the field of Arnold winking to the crowd. The new owner is doing this just so when a punter comes in and hits the balloon he can look like a jerk just like Jerry Jones.

Rams
As much as I would like for either Oak or SD to move closer to where I live I just don’t see it happening.

Unquestionably
the Rams. They blow anyways, have history in the city, and LA badly needs a team. Plus living in the state you can still sense the intense rivalry that existed between the Niners & Rams when they were in LA, as numerous sports bars are still cluttered with their memorabilia.

rams dont come back . chargers i think already have a deal in place for a new stadium. i dont know why
their stadium is perfect not a bad place in the house. but i think at this point the they had to move for some money issues. and i would take jacksonville. and oakland will not move here al davis wants nothing to do with la . hes an oakland man soo hes not going anywhere. and 49ers should move here their stadium is pure trash their games looks like its played at some local high school. is horrible.

That has been done and failed
The NFL has always wanted a team in the LA area, and the people always make a huge fuss on how they will support a team but it never happens. The Rams never could keep a fan base and when the Raiders moved there it was expected to be huge but after the first season sales dropped off drastically. LA has a Large population and the largest TV market but the only time the locals support the team is the first year and if a team makes it all the way to the Super Bowl. Parking and traffic are always huge issues and while the stadium owners will offer a sweet deal on the first contract the renewal will make a team look to move again (See the Raiders).
Let the new league have it or let them eat the cost for a possible BCS Bowl game, LA has proven over the years to be the Home of Fair weather fans.
is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

Yup. The reason the Raider experiment failed in LA...
was because the Coliseum was full of gangsters and no respectable citizens would go to the games for fear of getting stabbed. it was a BRUTAL environment. Also, the stadium was in a shady part of town and that didn’t help matters.
I swear I’m not making this up just because it’s the Raiders.

well your talking the rams and the raiders probably the worst teams
no one wants a re tread team. and the nfl i way more popular now. we are dieing for a team.over here but we need a new team not the fucking rams.

sorry sex...I don't think it'll happen
I do believe the horns are coming back….with another expansion team that’d make 33 teams…wouldn’t we need 34 to make it even? Of course I don’t know anything about how that works…just sayin….
but I think the Rams are coming back home dude. I’d be happy about it just so we have another place to possibly see OUR boys play :)

the coliseum is an awful place! You're not lying...lol
But Dodger stadium isn’t exactly in a prestine neighborhood either….it’s pretty bad where that stadium is at.
However…..being that I lived in Azusa for most of my life (one town over from Irwindale) I can say that there are a lot of gangsters over there too….I just don’t think the Rams fans will come out like Raidernation does and be that way.

I’ve heard the Vikings mentioned, which I think would be a travesty. What interests me is how some of these moves would affect divisional alignments.
SD, Oakland, SF and St Louis would all be able to stay in their current divisions, but if Minnesota or Jacksonville were to make the move, what would happen?
MInn to LA I assume would send St. Louis to the NFC North. Jax to LA would shift a few teams over I’d think. It would have to be Jax to AFC West and then who would move from there? KC to the AFC South?
So if Jax is the eventual LA transplant, this issue really does affect us.

Honestly I think it will be the Rams
They didn’t want to leave in the first place…now that Geogia bit the dust I think the new owners (rumor has it he lives in LA anyway) will want to bring them back. They do have a big fan base here in Cali.
I want to see a team come back to LA (only so I have another venue to catch a Chiefs game at sometime) but I do think the area they plan to build it will be horrible. I used to live near Irwindale and I know the spot they’re looking at very well. There is a huge freeway intersection that will make traffic jams a living hell during games. And it’s also a hop skip and a jump away from the Miller Brewery, so…..that could be good (for Miller drinkers). haha
Besides, MO already has the best team there, move the Rams….:) Go on, call me a homer. hahaha

oh and I am a bonehead....
I happily admit that I am wrong on the city in question for the “LA team”…not Irwindale…it’s City of Industry. Same difference…they’re like neighbors and the freeway is just as bad in COI lol
