Haley's conditioning program = Results = Tyler Trade ?
There's been a ton said about the rigerous conditioning program Haley has put his players through since March. So far we've not seen the results equate to alot of wins. Was all this extra conditioning worth it ?
Every week as I compare the Chief's injury report to our opponent or other teams I'm seeing the results. For example, the Chargers have 9 players currently listed on their injury report compared to only 3 listed for the Chiefs. Just take a look at other teams injury report as compared to the Chiefs. Sure these are just minor injuries but they still have an impact on the team or the players availabity or performance.
Tho the talent may not be there Haley is going to get every thing possible out of these players he has to work with.
It sounds like Ron Edwards has totally bought into Haley's conditioning program and probably won him a starting job. Had he not, we still might be looking at Tank Tyler as the Chief's starting NG. I'm not saying this is the reason as to why Edwards took Tyler's starting job but you gotta wonder ?

Something to be said about Parcells and now Haley
They don’t let guys get injured. Their training program builds a wall of muscle because muscle guards more than fat. See the difference in injuries from pre and post Parcells hiring in Miami it will surprise you
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.

ive noticed the other teams injury reports as well
and yes i feel the conditioning program has worked. i liked that they had all O-Lineman wearing knee braces in camp. It did seem LJ was faster but just running into the back of his lineman faster.
Regardless better conditioning doesnt equal better talent. Im just plain sick of seeing mediocre players have breakout games against us (Austin) and even though Portis isnt mediocre he longest run before Sunday was 60something and it came against us, then he gashed us for 78. We have to stop the breakout games!

Because clearly getting the “better talent” and letting them be slobs and not conditioned well works out great for us huh?

If Austin stays healthy, he's gonna embarrass a LOT of defensive backs before he's done.
No question. He’s a talent.
But you’re right. Better conditioning doesn’t equate with better talent. And the fact is that this season is exposing KC’s cover-2 secondary-rate. Heh.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

It was very important
we needed to be the best conditioned team on the field for the past two seasons we have had. Last two years we played good in first half and do nothing in second half. Just like Charges game at home last year. What part of the game are we scoring points now? When it counts in the second half. we just need to get to a quicker start it all.

Haley's Program = Results = Trading tyler because
He was equivalent of a 5th round pick and kenny smith can offer the same abilities as tyler can if not better.

We shall see my friend. I hope you are right.

even if Smith offers NOTHING
Tyler = 5th round pick at this point
Haley said he can use Dorsey or Gillberry at NT in a pinch, and I’m intrigued about Favorite…
IF Smith contributes ANYTHING, it’s a bonus
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

We need to get Favorite up ASAP.
That is all.

Uh huh.
Dude who hasn’t played in the NFL in 6 years because he was constantly injured = Dude who played 10-15 snaps per game? What?
If Kenny Smith is every bit as good as Tank Tyler, and offers all of the same abilities and skills, why don’t we turn around and give him to one of the other teams that was looking at Tank (before we shipped him to Carolina) and pick up another draft pick for him?
I mean, so far, Smith hasn’t cost us anything but the ink on his contract. Turning that into another 5th round pick would be genius wouldn’t it? And, surely, since he’s every bit as talented as Tank Tyler (you know, ‘if not better’), then we ought to get what we can for him.
Except that, oh wait, other teams aren’t wanting him. In fact, if we hadn’t signed him, he’d still be retired. That must mean that he’s not as good as Tank was, huh?

Smith's more of a NT than Tyler was.
What this whole thing is sayin’ to me is that they think they can get it done with the guys they have. But it’s not gonna be a straight-up 3-4. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Gilberry at LDE and Jackson inside of him. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Magee in there in place of Tyler more often than not.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Saying we are at least scoring points in the second half unlike last season. I think conditioning has something to do with that. But yes we need to get some scores in the first half also.

That's part of it.
Conditioning is something simple you can do to increase your chances of success.
I’m not sure of the theory behind runnin’ the big men an excessive amount. But it seems pretty clear that Haley’s approach hasn’t been breakin’ ‘em down, and just gettin’ the extra weight off is good for the knees of the big men short- and long-term. But with guys so close to the limits of what the human body can achieve, I wonder if maybe more swimming and a little less running would make sense.
But I’m 100% behind you on the need to score more points early. It looks to me like they play scared, and because they’re scared, they SHOULD be scared. I’d like to see formations and play mix that reflect a more dead-ahead in your face attitude. If Haley wants to eliminate the negative plays, then he oughta root, hog or die to ATTACK, rather than running the kinds of trick plays and draws that say “We know we’re outmatched.”
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Athletes are far more likely to get injured if they are not in shape and carrying around a lot of extra weight.
Plus they tend to fade in the 4th quarter. I know this has been posted a lot, but Herm’s team being out of shape is just embarrassing. High school teams shouldn’t lose because they are out of shape.
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.
