Chiefs Need To Replace These Coaches
Bill Muir Offensive line and Joe D'Alessandris Offensive line Assistant they need cut and replaced with Will Shields if available i know he's still into football with his youth leagues and would be a positive choice and thats if he would come.

Quarter Backs Coach Todd Haley: he's got to much to worry about I say we bring in a guy who loves the chiefs Trent Green who led us to a 10-6 record in 07 come on Scott bring him in.
these are just some some things I thought about.

good thoughts
But, I’ll take ACTUAL coaches over former players who may or may not be good coaches.
I do think the Chiefs need to hire a QB coach and Haley should delegate some of the OC duties (if he hasn’t already)
I think the OL coach is a good one… they are still working out the kinks in the new offensive system, and still working with 2 starters that shouldn’t be starting
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Ah cause they are good :)
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

Wow really you're suggesting former players
To be coaches and you think we’ll have success?
You’re a real smart guy my friend! Smartest guy on here!!! :)
God I just love how smart you are!! YAY!!!
I always thought Green would make a great coach
During the games it didn’t matter if he was on the field or off. That guy never missed a thing, not one little detail. I just don’t see either happening since they don’t have any ties to Pioli or Haley.
It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.
if you want a former player
steve deberg is developing a real reputation for being an excellent qb guru. i’d rather see bill muir coach with some talent before i decide to let him walk
Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day.

Or....
Bruce Matthews is an offensive ast. with the Texans….he would be a great OLine coach.
I would love to see Green as a QB coach. He was a smart guy who should know the QB position better than anyone.
Richie Anderson is our WR coach….he played FB his whole NFL career. But he played under Haley with the Jets….so looks like Haley only wants former players he coached with.
Pepper Johnson would probably make a good DC one day. He is Dline coach with the Patriots. He is a Parcells guy and has played under Haley before and of course has ties with Pioli.

I’m guessing Bruce Matthews sticks around Houston. His son, Jake, narrowed his college choices down to Texas, Texas A&M, and USC, with USC a very distant third because of location. Apparently they decided that father and son would prefer to be closer, which makes sense, and leaving for an OL job in KC would conflict with that preference. Jake did commit to TAMU, by the way, and while he probably won’t take a redshirt due to poor OL depth there, that’s still probably the 2013 season at the earliest, and more likely 2014 or 2015, that Bruce would be ready to leave.

Crap
That Matthews family is taking over the NFL! They are all freaking great players though….its awesome. I want a Matthews on our team. Maybe Casey Matthews…Clay’s son. He is a LB and looks pretty good. I forget where he plays.

Isn't Clay Matthews about 22 years old?
I mean, I know his hairline is receding from all the steroids, but he’s fresh out of college.

Clay Matthews the dad
who played for the Cleveland Browns & was one of the best linebackers of his day. You are thinking of his son Clay Matthews III who is a rookie for the Green Bay Packers! :)
What would really be great
is if Kurt Warner retired after this season and then he could come in. He loved Haley and could not only be the QB coach but would be a perfect fit for Haley to eventually turn the play calling over to since he knows Haley’s playbook so well.

Kurt Warner will make the move to television when he retires. Makes too much sense.

They were great players
but who says they can coach. And our line at areas who says the guys cant be coached
Often times the great players aren't great or even good at coaching
Some guys you just know are going to be good coaches, because they’re students of the game. However, most great players are great because they’re immensely talented, and they’re able to do things with instinct and ability. That doesn’t translate into good coaching. It’s like your average adjunct faculty professor for mathematics: sure the dude can do anything and everything in nonlinear algebra or advanced calc naturally, without even thinking about it, but it’s precisely that the guy doesn’t have to think his way through the steps that he’s unsuited to actually teach others how to get through the steps.

Oh well someone is going to say it so....
Clancy Pendergast and replace him with a BBQ and Bobby Flay on the sidelines so our boys can at least eat good on gameday.

Like everyone says
It’s hard to say whether they would turn out to be good coaches or not. One things for sure, they were both good leaders and had great work ethics on the field. I also understand that Jim Zorn may soon be available as a QB coach ;-0
ok, so this post is from the same guy who yesterday said "vrable sucks bring in sergio kindle"
of course, Kindle is still in college, but hey, why not … let’s give him a call …
sorry, hard for me to take much of anything seriously by this particular poster when he makes comments as he did yesterday
and I do believe this idea was floated before … I’m sure it has
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
Agreed.
If we’re bringing in any former players, why not Sippio as a wide receivers coach? ;)
I hate waiting.
I would MUCH rather have a proven coach
like Bill Muir than a guy who used to play for the chiefs
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
Even if those *guys* are Trent Green and Will Shields

i wouldnt be opposed....
to bringing them in as assistant coaches to the position coaches.

Mike vrable
Yeah mike does suck the only time he is playing good is on boot legs and play actions
We must be watching different KC Chiefs...
Vrabel is the defensive leader. He’s third on the team in tackles (26), has a sasck and a FF.
We are all entitled to our opinion, but your explanation of why he sucks hasn’t swayed mine.
BTW, I do think we should draft a replacement for Vrabel in the upcoming draft, but hope they resign Vrabel to allow the draft pick to develop. Kindle isn’t the guy I hope they get though.

Trent Green has already said in interviews
that even before he retired he was talking to coaches and announcers trying to decide what he wanted to do when he did retire. And he choose the media side because it gives him more time with his family.
Chiefs set an NFL record, most roster changes in 1 season.

much easier job
probably as much money as a position coach would make too
Air Cassel - approved for takeoff
he doesnt have to worry about money
he is a smart guy and im sure hes been smart with his money…plus the retirement money players get isnt too shabby.

Even though I wasn’t crazy about his lack of run calling when he was an oc, kinda wondered how Mike Martz would fit with Haley. As far as a qb coach he’s as good as you can get, and like most I feel that Haley would be a better coach with an OC. I doubt it would ever happen, but thought I would throw it out there to see what you guys think.
I think Martz is a lot smarter as a pundit than as a coach, myself.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
I think Martz has ruined his own reputation.
He doesn’t work and play well with others, and his arrogance clouds his judgement. He worked really well when Vermeil could overrule him, but his bravado lost him a Super Bowl and DeMarco Farr says basically disrupted the team in the sandwich year in St. Louis.
He would provide some excitement, but frankly he beats himself with his apathy towards ball protection and clock management.
u know
i was actually thinking / dreaming that chiefs should bring in shields for o-line coaching. lol. hell i’d consider Green or Montana for qb coach. i think Cool Joe is to busy QB coaching 2 of his sons, along w/ Will Smiths son, down in SO Cal.

oh i forgot
how bout resurrect DT for LB coach :D, Neil Smith for D-Line.
Proud Supporter of Tyler Thigpen.
Less coaching...
I think too much coaching is as big a problem as too little. At some point you’ve just got to let your players play. How often would teams play better if the coaches left the field?
what?!?
nobody wants to bring in elway to coach our qb’s?
by MountainManMike on Oct 22, 2009 6:12 PM CDT reply actions
whose Elway?
didnt he ride a donkey for a few years?
hows about Marino or Steve, not Bono, but Young

I dont think that Trent Green is going into coaching. he is going to continue to do the tv thing.
will shields was an oline consultant for the jets and i wouldnt be suprised if he would answer the right call.
Todd Haley is bringing in the guys that he is comfortable with and not the ex players that we like and thats a good thing!
