Let's put this horse to rest

The Tank Tyler trade cannot be assessed until we actually use the fifth round choice that we got. We did not trade for Marlon Favorite, we traded for a fifth round draft choice.

Because Carolina runs a 4-3 and we run a 3-4 we have to look at post trade production with a forgiving outlook.

Even if Tank Tyler blows up and becomes an awesome DT in Carolina we have to look at what he could have done for us not what he's doing for Carolina, and compare that to what we're getting out of our fifth rounder

The way I see it; if we get a WR that is only in on 4 receiver sets, or an offensive lineman that only gets in when a starter gets tired, or even just a solid long snapper, we were fairly compensated.

I say this only because Tank Tyler played a reserve role in Kansas City and probably would have stayed there. To say "he had a bright future" is not fair at all because none of us can see into the future..

If we didn't need him moving forward, and the market said he was worth a fifth, than he's worth a fifth. Simple as that.

preach on, brother

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Too bad common sense like this isn't more "common".

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

apply this same logic to:
Scott Fujita
Jared Allen
Tyler Thigpen
Tony Gonzalez

agreed...

but,

we have to look at what he could have done for us not what he’s doing for…

still applies

Applying that to TG.

and when next year’s second round pick puts up HOF numbers I’ll be impressed. Let’s also not pretend that TG wouldn’t benefit our team this year and next.

sure he would have

but, that 2nd round pick will benefit the team a lot next year and for the next 10 yrs if it works out

The only way

Tank will be a star for some team if and only if he pumps up the nasty streak. Maybe this move will make it come out of him, but I think this move was made solely because he just didn’t show the nasty animal that Haley remembered him being coming out of college. If the coaches in Carolina cant bring out the nasty then he won’t be any better there than he was here.

Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
