Chiefs vs Goliath
fascinating read, link courtesy of Martin Manley's UFR, regarding how David beats Goliath, how TE Lawrence and George Washington lead insurgents to victory (and how the latter almost blew it) ... and how a short, inexperienced girls basketball team beats taller, better teams ... how? effort and energy, and doing the totally unexpected ... can something similar work for the Chiefs?

so, here's the deal - can the Kansas City Davids Chiefs be more successful than the NFL Goliaths teams that are, by all rights, better and more talented, and if so, how? according to the New Yorker article, it's all about energy and effort, and taking the other guy out of his comfort zone. it's also about unconventiality, thinking and doing outside the box and defying conventional wisdom.
...if they played the conventional way—if they let their opponents dribble the ball up the court without opposition—they would almost certainly lose ... his team would play a real full-court press, every game, all the time. The team ended up at the national championships.
what does that translate to for the Chiefs? all-out blitzing every down? a huge grab-bag full of "trick" plays? running the wishbone/option play for an entire game? maybe an entire game dedicated to a two-minute drill type offense?

Like the positivity...
But its not like we are a peewee football team. We are a team full of grown men who played very well in college. We are fully capable of beating anyone on any given Sunday. I would not call it a David vs. Goliath….it makes us seem smaller….or less of a team then other NFL teams.
We are just as talented as any other team….we just need to put it all together. Plain and siimple EXOCUTION!!

I hope execution applies to LJ as well ...
but honestly, you actually believe that this team is AS GOOD as any other team in the NFL and that ALL we lack is execution of plays? that our talent level is AS GOOD as any and every other team? wow … if that’s true, well wow, I had NO idea, Matt!
how AWESOME! Cassel is as good as Peyton Manning, Bowe is the next Jerry Rice and Demorrio Williams will change his name to Dick Butkus … or something
execution is all it is? well hell, Matt, this team should be 6-0 right now … just like the Saints, cuz we’re THAT GOOD!

I know upamtn...
I came running frantically last night when he was posting about keeping LJ. I think he got a bad batch of cheesecake.
Matt’s one of our peeps, so I wanted to give it time for the medication to kick in before we de program him.
We’re not even in the same world as the pat’s or the saints. The saints are sick man!! Sick!!

now kray, I'll have you know that on ANY given Sunday ...
… the Chiefs could lose by 70 to EITHER of those teams
you keep working on him, kray, maybe it’s not too late …

says the dude who has no clue about defense
why isnt Dorsey being eaten up by the national media? Why dont the guys at NFL Live spent their entire show breaking down his game film? I guess that means he sucks because he doesnt get as much sacks a Julius Peppers. Give it a rest, I know the Chiefs are a bad team but what I don’t need is some guy who doesnt know what he’s talking about to bash my team

relax, kray is totally tongue-in-cheek sarcasm
besides, as you said: the Chiefs are indeed pretty bad … kray’s just giving it a sense of humor

Yeah its cool...
I actually was very sick last night. I was throwing up from like 4:30pm till about 9pm…..I think I ate something bad. I also had it coming out of both ends if you catch my drift……I had a terrible day yesterday. Hopefully that wont happen again.

Just a small hint for Pendergast for that to happen:
COVER THE TIGHT END….
That ends the lesson.
I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

Whatever we did to stop Zach Miller
Hopefully we can do it again to stop Gates. Unfortunately, Jamarcus Russell does not play for the Chargers.

Well we will see if we learned anything from the Baltimore and Phily Games
Those QB’s could actually complete a pass—like the douchebag Rivers.

I like anyone
that suggests using the wishbone/flexbone triple option in the NFL…..

unconventional is working for the Broncos
and it worked for the Dolphins last season.. It’s all about finding an unconventional system that works

Meh
Gimmicks usually are not sustainable. I will take execution over gimmicks. Let us strt the executions with the offensive line.
