Around SBN: Hugh Douglas Admits To Stealing From Jaguars

Nick Wright (610 Sports) is about to blow a gasket !

The Chiefs traded Tank Tyler and Turk McBride.   Both "MY BOYS", Tank and Turk got traded from KC.   I agree with the trades 100% but Nick's not seeing it.  These guys were his home boys, with Nick spending time after hours with these guys.

"Get over it Nick".

Nick Wright: "Tank is the best available nose guard in the league" Really ?  U've got to be kidding me! Tank was soft !  Unfortunately this softness most likely is a result of Herm Edwards.

Tank is not a nose guard, period !  He could be but ???????????.

Nick, you need to shut your mouth please !.....,...and now its "Derrick Johnson is the best linebackers on this team !"

Nick, maybe if "YOU" llived up to "YOUR" potential you would take Soren Petro's job !

If Turk and Tank put the effort on the field as they did rapping on youtube then maybe, just maybe, they would have been kept around.

Gotta disagree here

I listened for the last half hour or so and I thought he was fair. Maybe you just disagree, but I don’t think there’s a better nose tackle out on the open market right now than Tank Tyler. Sure, he might not have been the best, or even the future, but he was a big body they could throw in there.

Nose tackle is the most physically demanding position in a 3-4 defense so you definitely need some depth there.

I agree Joel...

I didnt think he was exagerating at all. DJ is the best LB on our team, Tank is a better NT then any other NT available. Lets not discredit the numbers Tank has put up in only 2 starts.

I agree completely

That’s why I was bitching so much last night when I heard about it. The whole Tank thing pisses me off. What happens when Ron Edwards’ old ass gets tired and needs a break? Tank would have been a solid backup and an OK starter if necessary for a LONG time. It will be hard to find a replacement whao will play as well as he did with a 5th rd pick.

Tank is a big body

But lacks production. Nothing in his career…just some tackles. No sacks….not one single sack in his career….I think a 5th round pick would be just as good as Tank.

I think the compensation is fair

But now the Chiefs have a serious deficiency at a position that probably needs some depth?

by Joel Thorman on Oct 20, 2009 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Ron Edwards is a beast!

He will play the entire game! lol No breaks…..he will also play C in place of Niswanger.

I think you can rest assured there is a plan to add depth.

They won’t go with 1 NT. I know many think they don’t know their a#@ from a hole in the ground, but I don’t think they missed that observation. They will sign a backup (Lokey?) and maybe draft a NT. Suh? Cody? Who knows. We may have a whole new team by the time the draft is here.

I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

Suh...

isn’t a NT. I think he is the next Richard Seymour.

tank is going to shine...he needed a different team

it’s only fair to him too…he wasn’t going to get his moment here in KC…he’s good.

Tank

I agree is best available NT. Also never said anything about Turk being traded. Yes released. But there can be many reasons Turk got traded and like it was said about Pioli before….its a two way street with trades. Turk may have wanted to get out and get a chance in his home state and our coaches may have thought he could not be consistent enough at that spot. Look at the Charges lastnight without their starting NT.

by chiefs316 on Oct 20, 2009 3:31 PM CDT reply actions

3-4

In order for a 3-4 defense to be really good it is an absolute must that it has a really good NT. While Tank isnt a bad player, he is not going to be a really good player for this team at NT. This is a move that says the Chiefs are going to be looking to either, draft or trade for a much more talented player at that position. While it will probably hurt us this season this is a better decision to get something now for him as opposed to simply releasing him.

first of all

Nick Wright has admitted before that he knows very little about many of the sports he talks about… including football.
Second, Tank Tyler was a waste of space. I’m only made to see him gone because we now only have one nose tackle on the team. Tyler sucked when he was in the 4-3 and he just got pushed around even more in the 3-4. I’m not saying I wish him the worst in Carolina, just don’t expect him to be anything more than below average.

by jonnyu on Oct 20, 2009 5:17 PM CDT reply actions

Now or never.

We had to get rid of him now in order to get some trade value out of him. we will be ok without him. look at all the draft picks we will have. we can rebuild our O line with some of those picks. hey look at this we pick the last man in the draft. he may go to the pro bowl.

Wright is a whiny little stooge

I imagine he DID lose his sources

The only measure of true success in the NFL is the Vince Lombardi trophy. Anything less is a rationalization.
