Not saying theres a rumor but it appears the Eagles have a need for a 4-3 backer with Gaither out now and have an expendable WR as trade bait. Might be a good fit. That and Reid is looking...

Hold out for a good pick

I think DJ could go to a number of different teams but seems the Eagles, Bears and Lions are the most obvious . . . And of course, never rule out the Patriots! That all being said, DJ is a great value trade. He is in the last year of his contract (cheap) and hasn’t done enough to garner the “big” payday. Someone could get him to sign an extension relatively cheap and have a solid player for years with minimal investment.

Kevin Curtis would be interesting trade bait I think.

A guy that can stretch the field, has good hands and can produce. He’s only been shuffled out of the mix because they have two stars on the rise.

absolutely true...

and he may have more potential than we know about…could be a belichek steal…..

I hope the Pats take him.

He has a huge amount of potenial and maybe only they can bring it out of DJ. Lets get a 2nd for him….because we are not gonna have a Randy Moss pulled on us.

Glad to see more than 1 playoff team with a LB need.

Drives the price up.

I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

They're definitely in the market

Personally, I’d rather have Reggie Brown than Kevin Curtis but wouldn’t be surprised if I’m alone on that one

Yes he did.

Here is a quote from Gretz:

The Chiefs used two different nickel defenses in this game. First, CB Mike Richardson played his first game in a red and gold uniform and he was the nickel back. On large yardage situations where it seemed there was a chance the Redskins would run, ILBs Derrick Johnson and Jovan Belcher would come in. On situations where the tendency would be pass that’s when Belcher would come in, but McGraw would move from safety to a linebacker spot and S DaJuan Morgan came in and played.
McGraw, Johnson and Morgan got their most extensive playing time of the season. Based on how the game went down, with the defense not allowing a touchdown, it may be a formula we see again next Sunday against San Diego.

Here is the link to the complete article.

i just looked up his stats for this year and he got half his tackles in this last game so whatever they had him doing had to work out for him

Id say right now keep everyone we have unless they wanna try and get something out of him before he leaves next offseason

DJ kicked ass in this game.

He had a huge play on 3rd down, i believe. He came up on a screen pass i think and look like he power doubled the guy into the ground. It was a nice hit. Hopefully i see more of that D because it looked like Washington was surprised. I like Seeing McGraw at LB..he has speed and can tackle. It just leaves our S position open a little bit.

hmmm very good idea...

I could see that….we could certainly use the help at receiver…we need someone tough…

If we're trading DJ, trade for Avant and a 5th rounder.

If DJ to the Eagles trade were to go down. The only WR worth trading for is Avant. He’s younger and stronger and IMO better then Brown and Curtis. He’s a defensive minded guy that plays offense. He seems like a Pioli/Haley guy for sure.

If not trade DJ to the highest bidder. A high 2nd or low 3rd if you can get it.

by cameltoeuchdowns on Oct 19, 2009 1:19 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No on Curtis and Brown

Curtis has been a bust, makes too much and is always hurt.

He’s still living off his 07 season

The thing about DJ

is I can just tell he’s gonna be the type of player that will excel in another organization. A lot of Carl’s 1st round picks had it kush and easy and never been forced to prove themselves. Now that a new sheriff is in town and forcing DJ to prove himself, he’s not buying into it. In fact, I think he wants out and is looking for the new opportunity and fresh start elsewhere

I'm not interested in trading any of our players

unless it’s for an O lineman who can come in and start his second week.

DJ is gathering dust on the bench though and is actually a player with some value...

based on his skills, untapped potential and the fact that there is a need in the NFL now for a good 4-3 backer to fill a hole.

I’m intersted in draft choice(s), not players in any trade.

by dablueguy on Oct 19, 2009 1:41 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

We'll be sitting fat next year

With our record from this season, we’ll easily be another Top 5 pick. That means our second rounder will virtually be picking up 1st round scraps and the TG draft pick will net us another solid building block. If we take Berry from Tennessee #1 overall things could get ridiculous quickly in KC

that gets my hopes up just thinking about it.

by krayfish on Oct 19, 2009 1:57 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep

Berry and a good pass rushing LB to compliment Hali and I think we’d have a very stout defense, assuming the DL continues to get better.

Yes it's so easy to find a player like Allen.

Chiefs set an NFL record, most roster changes in 1 season.

and you will find the promise land…

by worc on Oct 19, 2009 2:27 PM CDT up reply actions   2 recs

I sense sarcasim....

…. obviously Allen was a find but there are very capable pass rushers to be had in later rounds, I don’t think they have to be an “elite” 1st round player. With the line being so solid I think we could find a guy who’s sole responsibility is to sack the QB.

Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.

please dont

please do not trade for curtis. that would be a lose for us.

If there is a trade of DJ

we should ask for a draft choice and the player that the other team will cut to make room for him. Never know what we may pick up.

Id be happy with a 2nd or 3rd...

especially in next years draft where the second round has the potential to have as much talent as this years first round. Be interesting if Pioli can stockpile alot of early picks to see where this team is headed.

I like DJ... but I don't care if he plays or not

as long as a LB makes plays, and the defense looks as good (or better) as it did on Sunday…

I don’t care if that LB is Williams or DJ… or someone else.

So, if they get GREAT value… trade him.
IF not… keep him.
either way, I don’t mind.

remember who we played Sunday

Everyone looks good against them.

by NJ Chiefs Fan on Oct 19, 2009 2:47 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

that's true...

but… I’m not just talkin about THIS game…
Williams has been steady, DJ has made plays in limited action.

and, I believe, the defense is much better than the numbers indicate… or at least it’s on the way to being much better

This is the first game that we weren't either dominated

or defensively choked out a loss in the last minutes of the game.

Why

Are we so interested in getting rid of our best player. No DJ hasn’t been a ray lewis LB, but he is good. We need to stop this nonsense of trying to ship him off.

by antwan1977 on Oct 19, 2009 3:17 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I have to agree...

He may be riding the pine but, every time he comes off the bench he makes a big play. Yesterday he stuffed Portis behind the line. The int vs Baltimore and don’t forget the HUGE sack on Russell in wk 2. We don’t exactly have LBs to spare.

The only way I would trade DJ would be for a 2nd rd pick and I don’t know if we will get that good of a pick for him. if we do…See ya! If we don’t, he needs to see a little more playing time to keep his value up and make some big plays for us.

by Chiefsfan1970 on Oct 19, 2009 3:55 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I hate to lose him and get nothing.

After this year there is no way he is going to resign even if they did want him back.

by Helmets on Oct 19, 2009 3:59 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

well, he may not have a choice

he’ll be a Restricted FA, which means the Chiefs could either match any offers he got, or get a draft pick in return?

correct me if I’m wrong…

but, DJ doesn’t really hold all the cards in this poker game
