I don't think were giving enough credit to Tamba Hali
Tamba Hali sacked Todd Collins for a safety to solidify a win for us Today. When the Redskins took the field I honestly thought they had a legit shot at scoring a last second touchdown. I mean look at all of our past games, we have found ways to lose games when we were sure to win. Hali's sack was SO BIG for us because it was the first time in a long time that our team made the big play that finished off our opponent. Look at games like Tampa Bay and (2nd) San Diego game of last year, and even the Oakland game this year. The chiefs never closed out those games and we ended up giving the other teams a chance back into the game and win. Not today. With 25 sec left I thought, please don't let this happen again, not another last second collapse like so many times before. But when I saw Todd Collins go down in the endzone I was screaming, WE ACTUALLY WON THE GAME IN THE 4TH QUARTER. That is why I believe the game ball should be split between Succup and Hali, because without that sack to ensure the win who knows what could of happened. If the Redskins did score a last second TD then all of those field goals by Succup wouldn't matter.
Plus I am really impressed in general with our pass rush. We had three sacks today, wow I haven't said something like that since the days of Jarred Allen. Let's look at Tamba Hali's stats for this season, 3 sacks, 2 FF, and 1 safety. He may not be getting alot of sacks but dam, when he does get a sack he makes them count in a big way.

While I wouldn’t put too much stock into our performance against perhaps the most woeful offense in the league, I came away very pleased. I think Hali has potential in his new role with the defense and he seems to be buying into the system. I hope we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater when we start to jettison all these players.

I Think You're Right
I’ve bashed Hali as much as anyone, and frankly I think it’s time to give him some credit for adapting to his new role. He’s not an All-Pro but he has turned himself into an asset as an outside linebacker and he’s been productive this year. If he can keep up his level of production he may very well justify the first-round pick the Chiefs spent on him. So kudos and I wish him well.

Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

Big Up
That’s cool of you to come around, Crawford. I know we argued a lot about Hali last season and glad you’ve finally came around to seeing things my way. ; ^ )

All It Took
Was Hali producing positive results. I’ll generally change my opinion when the evidence clearly points the other way…and after six games the evidence is saying that Hali has done a decent job at OLB. :)

What makes it more impressive
is that he is the only legitimate pass rushing threat we have. Every team we play has been focusing on him and he is still findign ways to get to the QB.
Hopefully, if Dorsey continues to improve, Hali will create opportunities for him like Allen did for Hali.

Hali
If you watched Hali every snap of every game since preseason you should have seen his potential. He may not be putting up the greatest of numbers but hes getting a lot of pressure.
There have been lots of Hali supporters this year. I remember 1 team recently saying in media coverage he was the best pass-rusher they faced all season.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Hali is a beast.

The questions about Hali have never came from his pass rushing ability. Even the biggest doubters of his change in positions gave him at least some credit in that area. The biggest question came from his pass defense and coverage, and rightly so. I’ve been a big supporter of him since day 1, but I can understand why there were questions. Hopefully he keeps it up!

I'm glad somebody posted this. Remember he's learning a new position.
Tamba has clearly, clearly worked his ass off. There’s no question he’s one of the “53 right guys.”
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

I like it...
I get pretty aggravated, but they are coming around…
Dorsey was getting some hits on the QB too…

Yeah, he was right there as well on that safety.

I'd also liketo point out
that Hali is usually the one being double teamed all game. I remember right after he striped Eli Manning the giants had him doubled teamed the entire rest of the game.

he was double teamed on the safety
was able to beat them both with a sweet move
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Also it helped that Dorsey was 8-10 yards in the backfield on the safety as well.
Our line is improving and will continue to.

Yup.
Hali has turned himself into a valuable guy for us going forward. He should still have lots of room to continue improving as well.
Great job by the defense overall vs the Skins. Now, if we can just figure out how to get the offense going…..Hmmmmmm.

The "Real Point" here is making a big play when it means something !
Hali did that yesterday and the Chiefs need more of that ! I still remember Niel Smith, Derrick Thomas, Jared Allen and others with the game on the line making big plays in the 4th quarter “PUTTING THE HAMMER DOWN !!!!!!”
