The Washington Redskins are taking away head coach Jim Zorn's play-calling duties.
Zorn discussed the change with executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato after Washington's 14-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
The Associated Press: At 2-4, Zorn relinquishing play-calling duties
The Chiefs defense is that good. H/T to TonyG88 in the FanShots.

Defense
was pretty good. I think we showed today that while we’re not going to make the playoffs, we’re not the soap scum of the NFL either. I’d say for today, not for the season, I’d give the Chiefs…
Special Teams-B (still need to return the ball better)
Offense-C (no turnovers, some nice passes considering the weather, but man, we stall whenever we sniff their end zone!)
Defense-B (Hali is coming alive, DE’s played well containing Portis’ explosiveness except for one play I may have had my eyes closed during)

Man, as bad as it may get here...
…at least we don’t have Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato running our team…

Could be worse
we could have Carl Peterson running the franchise.. At least Snyder overpays players that are at least somewhat in their prime
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.

There Was Speculation On ESPN's NFC East Blog
That Snyder was possibly stripping him of his playcalling duties in hopes that he’d resign. Washington is such a pathetic organization.

Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

And I'm Glad We Beat Them
Dan Snyder is such a classless, clueless moron. I haven’t liked him since he ran Marty Schottenheimer out of town in D.C.

100% agree
When it comes to stupid owners this guy takes the cake. For a long time I didn’t think anyone would out do the Bidwells when it comes to moronishness but at least the Cards treated people decently…they just couldn’t draft. And I guess since young Bidwell took over they may actually have turned the corner.
Snyder is a dumbass who wants instant gratification with his team and instead manages to keep it in so much turmoil they never gain a sense of direction. This is one owner that needs to find a good GM and just sit down and shut up for a few years.
Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.

Snyder's Like Al Davis
Without the brains. If you were to give Al Davis back 20-30 years but leave the senility and insanity in place, you’d have Dan Snyder.

Did Zorn call his own plays when he was a player?
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

I don't think so
I think he came into the league after the change from QB calling to OC. Funny…I was listening to Don Shula get interviewed before the game yesterday and he said when he took over the Dolphins that he only had 4 assistant coaches. Zorn came in in ‘76 and I think most teams had moved away from QB calling by then. Not that I’m an expert on that though.
But I just looked up Zorn’s player stats and he actually was not a good QB…53% career completion percentage….67.5 career QB rating….maybe he’s just as good a head coach as he was QB?

Watch Snyder hire Chan Gailey.
About the Chiefs: I'd rather be a realist than a pessimist

Maybe we can trade him....
he is still employed by KC isn’t he? Perhaps a 2nd rd pick?!!!

this is so ridiculous
Just fire the guy or let him ride it out. Hiring these offensive consultants that report only to management and no stripping him of play calling is just humiliating – do you think they are trying to make him quit so they don’t have to pay him as much?

Snyder will make it so nobody will want to take his head coaching job.
He’s becoming the new Al Davis, and Davis has trouble filling his head coaching job all the time.
