For Those of You Who Had the Opportunity to Watch the Game

I have a few questions and I kind of want to use this as an open post for anyone else who was also unable to watch the game to ask any more questions. Sorry Chris if this should be a fanshot but I figured a post would get more conversations going.

Star-divide

1) How did Alleman do in relief of Brian Waters? Does he have a future at that position?

2) I've been down on Wade Smith at LT all week. How did he do?

3) I was predicting a career day for Haynesworth but apparently he had an injury of some sort? Was he pushing the pocket on Cassel?

4) Why did I hear that Zorn threw a challenge flag within 2 minutes of the fourth?

5) How did the players initially react to the win? Were they jumping like they had just won the super bowl?

6) Is O'Callaghan still looking like our RT of the future like he has the last two weeks?

7) How did Tyson Jackson do against their reserve LT?

8) Was Dorsey constant in pushing the pocket?

9) In the 3-4, it's often two people are responsible for every sack, who was the second party in Vrabels sack?

10) DJ got in apparently? Was he alright?

Thanks guys.. Today was huge and I'm glad we finally got that chip off our shoulder. Here's to 11-5!! GO CHIEFS!!!

Haynesworth had a big game...he was in the backfield all game

Our O-line struggled in pass protection, but looked decent run blocking

Q #9

Vrabel split a double team and caused the fumble and recovered the fumble.
All his as far as I could see :)

I was curious about Wade as well

When Albert is back, why can’t Wade get a look at RG? Anything’s gotta be better than Mike Goff.

I sound like a broken record, I’ve been asking for that since forever.

sounds like Goff was good run blocking, but not pass protecting today?

well, I didn't see it either, but following the play by play...

3 Haynseworth is as good as advertised, injury didn’t slow him down, nor did the Chiefs OL

7 T Jackson had a batted down pass, and I think he was in on a tackle or two

8 Dorsey was doing very well, had several tackles and helped cause the sacks that Vrabel and Hali got

10 DJ had at least one great tackle on defense, and one special teams tackle… sounds like he did ok

In answer to the question, though, Jackson wasn't matched up versus left tackle.

Dorsey and Hali feasted on the backup left tackle – won some, lost some. But the secondary mostly held up when the QB had time.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

I'm wondering when the QB change is coming

VY couldn’t possibly look worse than Collins

by KCCheeze on Oct 18, 2009 5:08 PM CDT up reply actions

1) How did Alleman do in relief of Brian Waters? Does he have a future at that position?

I think Alleman does have a future, if he can stay healthy. Waters had some brain farts. But got the start.

2) I’ve been down on Wade Smith at LT all week. How did he do?

If the right side did as well as the left side, today, Cassel would’ve had a better day. Smith still gets pushed way back, but I think he has quicker feet than last season and better technique, so he’s pushed back, but he’s still between the QB and the pass rusher.

3) I was predicting a career day for Haynesworth but apparently he had an injury of some sort? Was he pushing the pocket on Cassel?

He had injuries, but still played great in spots. LJ got some room running off-tackle against the ’Skins. Hope to see more of that and a little more outside running, to loosen up the middle.

5) How did the players initially react to the win? Were they jumping like they had just won the super bowl?

Gave Haley a Gatorade shower (although it looked like water).

10) DJ got in apparently? Was he alright?

DJ was just fine. LB is starting to look like a strength, and I’m seeing pretty much all of ’em in the rotatiion, now.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

thanks hmillls

I’m hoping Alleman can take over that LG spot eventually, but maybe we have something in Wade, he was going up against some serious talent today. Silently Washington has one of the best defenses in the NFL

I think puttin' in Collins was a mistake.

I don’t think Alleman saw much/any action. I think he’s fighting a shoulder injury, at present.

Goff was instrumental in some nice run plays.

Is New England going

to set a new record for points scored in a game? They lead 52 – 0 with 10 minutes left in 3rd Q. Record is 72 reg. season & 73 in Championship game. Tennessee isn’t putting up much resistance right now.

by ttownmikey on Oct 18, 2009 5:22 PM CDT reply actions

CBS took the game off the air

I can’t even watch it with NFL sunday ticket. I love when the stations decide what i need to watch. Because it was a local broadcast it was blacked out of sunday ticket

by KCCheeze on Oct 18, 2009 5:24 PM CDT up reply actions

Try again.

When the game is pre-empted, the Sunday Ticket kicks in, and the game WILL show up in the 700’s on your dial.

It’s a real scramble, though. This happened with the Chiefs versus Giants the other day. Quick a cluster fuck getting my recording.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

by hmills110 on Oct 18, 2009 5:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Comments.

2) Wade did pretty decent. He tried to block Andre Carter by jumping at his ankles and that is how Carter batted a Cassel pass down…..otherwise I think he did pretty good.

3) Hayneworth is HUGE!! He sticks out on the dline like a sore thumb. If he put in 100% on every single down he would have like 20 sacks a year and 35tfl.

4) It was on the punt return when Wade fumbled and Morgan jumped on it. Zorn is an idiot! Nothing to challenge.

10) DJ was a beast. He made a tackle on some dude….I dont remember who…it was an out pass in the flat and DJ stuck him hard. I loved it.

Haley didnt seem to care for the Gatorade shower but it was probably cold and his very first one. After the shock wore off he smiled the biggest smile and turned to give fives and shake hands. It was a very special thing to watch……I would love to be on the plane back home.

The Gatorade Shower was something I was looking for from the 1st win.

It WAS a big shit-eatin’ grin on Haley’s face, once it dawned on him what the drenching meant. The shower symbolizes player support for the HC. Not sure Waters is one who’s bought in, but you can see that the players generally buy in.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Questions 1, 2, 3, 6...

I didnt’ notice any difference today over the first 5 games in OL play. It didn’t matter who was in or where they played. Haynesworth was dominating everyone and beat the crap out of Cassle. The difference in the running game seemed to be play calling and LJ ran harder. He didn’t go down with the first touch today and showed a little more speed (not much).

This OL is what it is. There are no magic bullets on the bench. My bet is that they will be playing at the same level in game 16 as they are now. Just don’t have the talent. Moving them around is just reshuffling deck chairs. Cassel won’t last the season at this rate. He took a huge beating.

I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

by BinSC on Oct 18, 2009 8:04 PM CDT reply actions

Sounds like a solid take, BinSC.

I’m still holding out hope for Ndukwe and Alleman. I think Barry Richardson’s been activated. I wonder if he’s trainin’-up for G or T? I think he could play G, but isn’t quite T material.

I’m really starting to sour on Brian Waters, though. Most would say he’s one of few bright spots, and I recognize that Haynesworth’s a beast. But he’s been part of the problem, to my (casual) eye. Everybody else gets it right on the O-Line, for once, and you can usually count on a penalty or a blown assignment by Waters to make SURE they’re in poor position on 3rd down, or the 1st down conversion is called back.

I don’t like the angle or spin that Shitlock puts on it, but Waters just looks like a closet malcontent.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

And I have a LOT of respect for Cassel's toughness.

But this can’t be good for his long-term prospects.

He really held on to the ball too long.

When I can yell “throw the ball, throw the ball, throw the ball, throw the ball” before he gets sacked, he’s had time to throw it away.

The pass beyond the line of scrimmage was terrible also.
