Chiefs Score Four Field Goals and a Safety to Beat the Redskins
14 to 6. The Kansas City Chiefs win their first game of the season!
"The tape of this game is possibly going to be burned."
An astute observation by CBS commentator Ian Eagle. This game was not pretty.
But you know what? This feels awesome. What. A. Relief. The Chiefs get their first win. Joel is in the locker room now and make sure you tweet him your questions at Arrowhead Pride's Twitter account.
Here are few observations. How good does this win feel?!? Yes!
The Good
- Ryan Succop is our kicker. He was four for four in bad field conditions, hitting from 39, 46, 46 and 24 yards.
- Tamba Hali with a safety at the end of the game.
- Larry Johnson had 83 yards rushing on 23 carries.
The Bad
- Matt Cassel struggled with getting the ball out quickly and not giving in to the defensive pressure.
- Bowe had at least two drops that were all him.
The Ugly
- Six dropped passes by the Chiefs.
- Five sacks given up by the offensive line.
Todd Haley is smiling on the sidelines. CHIEFS! CHIEFS! CHIEFS!

sure there are negatives
but if you dont turn it over, im OK with the offense, and Succop is the man…if the wind wasnt like it was…we wouldve attempted 2 more field goals.
its a good sign to see the team with haley celebrating and showing support….
special teams and defense wins this game, mike brown also made a HUGE play to force that 78 yard run to not be a td…
enjoy it! we get a win!

I think there are ugly wins
and while I love this one, the prettiest ugly win in KC history was the against the Steelers at the end of the 86 season. 3 TDs on Special teams and defense along with 1 Lowery FG to win and end the 15 years without going to the playoffs.

Awesome exchange of tweets between Babb and another guy
According to Babb, Cassel called the kicker Suck-off. I wonder if Cassel is in Clausen land?
kb_kcstar: So here’s one of the things I learned from today’s Chiefs win: Few of Ryan Succop’s teammates know how to pronounce his last name.
kb_kcstar: Seriously, one player called him “Stuck-up.” Another prominent player called him something more vile.
October 18th, 2009 @ 4:13 pm
@kb_kcstar Spurrier called him “Succoff” after the season opener in Starkville a few years ago.
kb_kcstar: @Mark_HaseldenMN: That’s what his quarterback called him.

Ugly win
The offense sucked, as usual. The defense was a little better than usual. But whatever…KC WINS!
Feels good, doesn’t it?
So…are the fire-haley kids still out in full force? KC is now the proud owner of a one-game winning streak!
I have to say that I think my boy Derrick Johnson should definitely be back in the starting lineup now. And Larry Johnson…well, I still dislike the everlasting piss out of that toolbag, but whatever…KC WINS!

Bowe
Bowe also had at least 3 balls thrown “at” him that were terrible, and he made two unbelievable catches where matt threw the ball badly. The sucky part is that he has always seemed to drop the routine catches and make the amazing ones…. we need a wes welker to go opposite DBowe… or maybe a Tony G… :(
