Any news on a D. Bowe trade to Balitmore?

Oct 17 There are unsubstantiated rumors that the Ravens would be willing to send a second- and fifth-round pick to the Chiefs for Bowe, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Recommendation: Ravens' coach John Harbaugh didn't rule out his team making a deal prior to Tuesday's deadline, but he of course didn't mention Bowe specifically. At this point, the Bowe talk is strictly a rumor and nothing appears imminent, as appealing as a deal like this might be for Ravens' backers.

-this comes from Rotowire

I think D. Bowe is worth more than that...at least a first round pick!  I doubt this is true, but anyone have any word on it?  I sure hope something like this doesn't happen.

There are no trade talks for Bowe, there never were, and there probably will not be

This has been perpetuated by poor reporting all over the web.

It was simply a flight of Adam Schefter’s fancy in a bit that he did for ESPN. He said that no player outside of Tyson Jackson and Matt Cassel would be outside of the realm of possibility for trade. In Schefter’s article, he simply put some ideas out there on some trades that should happen in the NFL but probably won’t.

Doing a Google search for this topic uncovered some piss-poor reporting all over the web about this. One guy does a spot on ESPN one day, and the next day everybody is just dead-sure that it’s a fact. THERE ARE NO TRADE TALKS FOR BOWE TO BALTIMORE. At least none that have been substantiated by any league source.

I disagree....

There has to be some substance to this. Either on the Chiefs side or The Ravens. Probably the Ravens because why would the Chiefs ask for a 2nd and a 5th. I highly doubt it happens. Ecspecially for a 2nd and a 5th. Even a 1st round pick would be bogus. I dont think it will happen at all. I wouldnt be upset if they got more then fair compensation, I would be mad if they even got fair compensation because then your trading a proven player for some unproven picks. I think they would really have to load us up wiht picks for this to happen.

I agree

Reporters are trying to get a story and some drama going before the trade deadline. Look how many reporters ESPN has for the NFL. They are trying to scoop each other and don’t have many facts. However, if John Clayton reports something I will believe it. Clayton has been wrong before I’m sure, but not many times. He is the most reliable reporter.

To quote Tadpui

“THERE ARE NO TRADE TALKS FOR BOWE TO BALTIMORE”

Caps are appropriate for this one. I cannot believe that paid, full time reporters are actually taking Schefter’s words and treating them as a rumor of any kind. It’s embarrassing and irresponsible.

Schefter specifically said this was just his own thoughts on what SHOULD happen.

Haha thanks Chris

The props are appreciated. Look at the time stamp of that post (I’m in Central time so add 2 hours) and you’ll see that I was up waaaaaay past my bedtime. You never know if you’re going to wake up in the morning and have “poster’s remorse” :-D

Ain't gonna happen. Period.

There is absolutely not a single reason for the Chiefs to consider moving Bowe.

ahh.not to bust your bubble.

but generally if Adam Scheftler says is so….It is so. Maybe this was his opinion and he clarified that, but dont doubt that guys reports. He’s the most solid out of the bunch

It was definitely his opinion

He openly said it was his opinion

come on guys, help kill this bs story, don’t help build up the crap

by TonyG88 on Oct 18, 2009 10:43 AM CDT up reply actions

it was an idea concocted by schefter

there was never any talks, he just threw it out there as something that he thought was a good idea.

Only way it happens

if we are involved in a three way trade with the cardinals and someone else. And you know what player from Arizona would be heading to Kansas City out of that trade.

Why wouldn’t Baltimore just go for Boldin then? If Bowe was moved, it wouldn’t be for a perceived upgrade in receivers. We’d be looking for draft picks.

There was a lot of Boldin-to-Baltimore talk at the beginning of the season when there was thought that he might be moved. I would have loved to see us make a move for him with all those picks and that cash we’ve got. We’ll see.

I’m more interested in the talk of us going and getting Josh Cribbs.

nothing has happened

unless and until it does, it’s a rumor

if it happens then the rumor was accurate

if it doesn’t happen then the rumor was false

see? perfect logic!

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!

It shouldn’t even be considered a rumor. It was a part of a list of hypothetical trades that Schefter thought would make sense, but had no indication that any of these were in the works.
