Dear Chiefs Players,
Today you will walk out onto the FedEx field in Washington, DC to face the Washington Redskins. Everyone knows this and many haven't given you a chance in hell to win. Plain and simple as that. Only thing is, is that if everything in the NFL was that simple, there would have been no reason to have made the flight to DC for the game. Hell there'd be no reason to even show up at Arrowhead to break your ass in practice each and everyday. Why bother if life in the NFL is that simple? Well let me explain why you should show up and simply win this game.
I don't want you to do this for the millions of Chiefs fans around the world. I dont even want you to do this for your families and friends. I don't even want you to win one for the Gipper! Today, screw Todd Haley, Scott Pioli and Clark Hunt because they simply just dont matter on this afternoon.
Gentlemen,Victory is measured in territory gained, in how well one unit outmaneuvers the other. The game involves brute strength and keen physicality; it is a hand to hand, helmet to helmet fight, one man struggling against another. And yet at the same time, finesse, agility, and brilliant strategy are requisites for success and a team lives or dies solely on how well they work together as a team, as a unit.
An inch can make the difference between victory or defeat. And if you want to succeed in football or life, you have to fight for every inch. Never take anything for granted. Always keep fighting, even when everything seems stacked against you.
Gentlemen today you have a chance to do something that should mean more than anything else in your career. You have the chance to redeem yourselves and begin to restore the pride that lies with the emblem on the side of your helmet. Yes the Arrowhead logo, that is what your fighting for. Players come and go in the NFL and on this team, but today you are the sole representatives on this battlefield wearing the emblem that stands for everything that is great in football. You represent every man, woman and child who has supported this team for over 50 years now and lives and breaths everything Chiefs.
Men today you win this game for yourselves! You play every snap or kick as if it were your last. You leave everything you brought and more on that football field and then at the end of the game, look your team mate in the eyes and say "I gave it may all". Then look back at the scoreboard and you should see the Victory that has so long eluded this team for this season.
Men today you walk onto that field as individuals that make up a team, but more important when you leave that field you walk off in unity as one team, the only team that matters today, The Kansas City Chiefs!
Today is your day. Live it, breath and believe it! And most importantly take one more look at that logo and know what it stands for. The one constant since 1963 has been that logo, a logo that has endured time and will certainly outlive all of us. But one thing is certain, that logo will always stand for greatness and today you guys can demonstrate just that.
I firmly believe that any mans finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out for a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle Victorious!
This is your day men. A day you simply become the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ahh the power of a dear ----- letter!
Lanier invoked the power, now lets get a win! Great job Lanier!
We have to run the gauntlet over the next few weeks, we will be better for it. Pioli is not done with the roster, he will improve it. LJ is getting ready to start whining again.
