SNF Bears @ Falcons Open Thread
Hey guys! Tonight will be a bitter sweet game for me to watch. The Chicago Bears are facing off with the Atlanta Falcons. This will be the first time I have got to watch Tony Gonzalez since he was traded from our beloved Chiefs. Im bitter because we could use his production this year but its also sweet because we got a much needed 2nd round pick for our HOF tight end. Here is the updated stats of Gonzalez vs our leading receiver Bowe after the jump.
Tony Gonzalez:
19 catches 215 yards 2 touchdowns
15 catches 181 yards and 3 touchdowns
The Jay Cutler lead Bears will be trying to come and stop an awesome offense of the Falcons. The Bears will have to try to stop Gonzo, Roddy White and Michael Turner just to name a few. Both of these teams come into this game with 3-1 records and this one should go down to the very last play.
Factors: The Falcons have given up more points in the fourth quarter (24) than in any other quarter. The Bears have scored more points in the fourth quarter (35) than in any other.
Key Matchup: The Bears Pisa Tinoisamoa will have to be able to match up and beat Tony Gonzalez for the Bears to win this game. Tony has catches in 135 straight games. Man I miss Tony.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
I love Lovie Smith, but rootin' against Cutler is a must.
As a Chiefs fan in Colorado, the one thing I can agree on with the locals is enjoying Cutler losses.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
I'm the opposite
I love the Bears and seeing Cutler succeed with them is just sweet.

He always does stuff like that
He used to do a heavy mexican accent for fun.
*My opinions are subject to change.
I think that proves how good Gonzalez was
He didn’t exactly have Joe Montana throwing to him as a Chief. In his 12 years, QBs only had two or three Pro Bowl seasons.
Hope Tony has
a good game. I’m glad that he was able to go out & find a team to play for that he thought gave him a chance, I just wished he would have decided to stay in KC though.
How is Hester so good at PR??

Coming into this week, when passing the ball the Chiefs O-line ranks 28th… and 32nd when running the ball…
Our Offensive line is TEH AWESOME!!!

just got home from a long day
went to the jets game – but watched teh cheifs game at a bar outside- sat front row, cursed out TO all day- great. also watching mark sanchez throw 5 ints also wet my whistle – hushes all the people who claim sanchez wouldve been a better QB for us than cassel….to quote mike meyers in waynes world..“CHYEAAAA……RIIIGHT.”
Cheifs Special Teams
ranked 7th, mainly because of Colquits leg… The distance between him and the next best punter isn’t close. Our Return game is whats keeping us from a number 1 special teams ranking.
Desperately hoping for Desperate Measures
by averagegatsby on Oct 18, 2009 10:01 PM CDT up reply actions
I think the Oakland
punter may have a better gross but Colquitts net is better due to his hang-time allowing the Chiefs coverage to get there for no return yardage.
Raiders were ranked 5th in "Punt"
not sure why. Probably has something to do with touchbacks, and starts inside the 20, 10, and 5.

Don't know if its
the answer, but I’d like to see us try Ndukwe at RG & Alleman at C but it must not be better or they’d already be there.

Think of it like this...
More than likely we weren’t a contender with him. So lets say he played 2 maybe 3 years with us. Now lets say we get a guy who never goes to a pro-bowl but we get 5 solid years of starting out of. I say we win the trade.

not that we are reaping the benefits
but it certainly makes me happy to see the LT show off air in SD now. i think each week we get better and better, and we always play teh division tough…bring on SD and Denver…
Sproles is good too though.

If your bored
you should scroll up and read the comments this troll keeps making to bash me on the Notre Dame sports nation site. That guy has more discontempt for me than anyone ever has on here for anyone.

no
Im not sure he has the intangibles to be great at the WR position. It takes more than just raw ability

fair enough
his hands are much better than last year – give him the resto f this year, possiblt next year to get accustomed to being a WR in the nfl…he will dominate.
He may develop into a really good WR...
I think his peak is Hines Ward. Which is really good, may get into a Pro Bowl, but he will never have a Marvin Harrison in his peak year.

he will be better than hines ward
in a few different ways- agility definitely, not so much physicality…but he’s not just a guy you throw bombs to anymore, hes deadly in space, and is making catches over the middle of field, unlike last year where he dropped a lot of those passes and became invisible in some games.
im not sayin he will be a better WR than hines ward
because hines is a pure pro, i meant to say he will have better talent that hines ward as far as the WR position…might not be as good though. definitely has the talent though. you can do a lot with him, screen, reverses, i feel like he will be santana moss at his peak. fast, quick on his feet, lots of YAC
But for a couple years Hines was a top 15 maybe even top 10 receiver

youre right
hines is a top 5 wr right now. dont know if it will last, but he is really having a great year so far that is going un-noticed. after today hes definitely top 5.
I dunno about that
I can name 10 receivers off the top of my head that I would rather have
Reggie Wayne
Colston
Calvin Johnson
Randy Moss
Wes Welker
Fitzgerald
Bolden
Maybe Bowe
Steve Smith
and Maybe even Steve Smith

also
anybody else want to agree jason campbell was pulled purely because jim zorn figured he might as well try to blame the shitty-ness of that team solely on the QB before he gets fired? hahaha :) that jim zorn is a sneaky one!
It didn't matter
He’s a gonner

that goes back to the comment I made
a couple weeks ago about when Peyton and his receivers. Most of Peytons greatness is the relationship he has with his receivers.

Hadn't looked at it
like that. I allowed my dislike for Cutler to win out & I was rooting for the Falcons.
Another good game
& its a wrap for me guys! Enjoyed the thread again. See ya tomorrow night for Denver & San Diego.
