With the Kansas City Chiefs losing LT Branden Albert this week against the Redskins to an ankle injury, the team has promoted their 2008 6th round pick T Barry Richardson. Josh Looney gave the official heads up and nycchief let us know here in the FanShots.

Richardson played in six games last season, starting none.

The Chiefs also released LB Justin Rogers from the 53-man active roster to make room for Richardson. Rogers was signed just a few days ago after the Chiefs moved RB Jackie Battle to injured reserve.

Here's the team's starting offensive line for tomorrow's game:

  • LT Wade Smith
  • LG Brian Waters
  • C Rudy Niswanger
  • RG Mike Goff
  • RT Ryan O'Callaghan

The reserves are G Andy Alleman, T Ikechuku Ndukwe and T Barry Richardson. Both Alleman and Ndukwe have had minor injury issues this season, with Alleman appearing on this week's injury report as probable with a shoulder injury.

Yesterday, Joel speculated that Richardson could be promoted. The only remaining offensive linemen on the team are on the practice squad - G Daryl Harris and T Chris Patrick.

Rogers was a special teams guy at best

Might as well drop him. We’ll need TEs and hell WRs to block tomorrow.

Who would of thunk

that from all the draft picks from the 2008 class, B Rich would be one of the last men standing…

And put Richardson @ RT, Wade Smith @ RG, Goff @ Retirment Probably wont happen but maybe dreams can come true.

Wade Smith @ RG, Goff @ that company with the rockin music with the Whale jumping out of the water. Thats would be sweet.

tough break for the rogers guy

but Richardson needs to stay on this team for the rest of the year as backup RT. Ike can be backup guard and alleman can be backup g/c and apparently wade smith is the backup LT. Beggars cant be choosers

A man who says he can, and a man who says he can't are both right. Which one are you?

I want to hear some Barry chants on here tommorow if he gets in...

Barry! Barry! Barry!

Sort of reminiscent of that game at Arrowhead a few years back in that rainy game against SD where LJ was going off like a mad man and the crowd started chanting his name ‘Larry, Larry, LArry’

we need to address tackle depth next off season

B Rich, and Ndukwe are solid for RT depth. Wade Smith and Alleman were good for interior depth, but we have no other LT. Sadly we may have to use one of our mid round picks on a raw LT prospect. Either that or shell out money for a LT on the downside of his career. Wade Smith starting at LT is unacceptable

that's what I have been saying

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Brown was playing some RG in camp

I expect him to have a spot backing up one or the other….

LJ:)

We have to run the gauntlet over the next few weeks, we will be better for it. Pioli is not done with the roster, he will improve it. LJ is getting ready to start whining again.

Well...

Cassel has no chance tomorrow. Unless his shoulder pads have jetpacks.

oh man, Joel and his insider information

Now that he’s all tricked out with press passes, directly interviewing the owner of the team, who knows what else he’ll start ‘guessing’ and it turns out right.

In all seriousness, though, its nice to see that AP has the right combo of avid fans on top of breaking news coupled with intelligent thought and some spot-on educated guesses about decisions the team will make.

Now let’s get a WIN today!
