Chiefs LT Branden Albert Out for Sunday's Game

Photo by David Eulitt of the Kansas City Star

Not a lot of new news to report but it's official. Via Josh Looney:

Left tackle Branden Albert did not make the trip with the team to Washington today. Wade Smith is the likely starter tomorrow at left tackle

Albert injured his ankle in the third quarter of last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Here are this week's story about Branden Albert to get you caught up:

Wade Smith as the starting left tackle? Don't tell Matt Cassel. As bad as our starting offensive line has played, the Chiefs' lack of depth on the line is downright scary.

Is Ndukwe healthy?

I’m just worried about what’s going to happen if another T goes down (knock on wood). I know there has been talk about Richardson coming up from the practice squad, but as far as I know that hasn’t happened yet. All the more reason to run some shotgun spread offense vs the Redskins.

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

He's not on the injury report

So yes he is.

This is what we get for taking one tackle into the season

Wade fucking Smith at LT… I’m losing hope in this regime very quickly, how the hell do you put your hopes in a new, young, developing QB and not be a good O line around him? They should have had Levi Jones on the phone once Albert went out with that injury..

This is unacceptable, 4 TE’s, where TE is probably the most expandable position on an offense (next to FB) and only 1 LT the second if not the most important position on the offensive side of the ball..

I haven’t said it before but now there’s no denying it, until he proves me wrong Todd Haley is a dumbass

Wow, even Nanz is getting pissed

I can’t argue with anything you’re saying. The only thing I will say is that Smith really played pretty well considering he never practiced at that spot. Hopefully with a full week of practice he can at least be respectable. I repeat, if they’re smart they’ll line up in the shotgun more often and spread the ball around.

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

Sorry

It just doesn’t make sense.. But to his credit Wade Smith at least got in DeMarcus Ware’s face in his time at LT. Maybe that’s more than we can say about a lot of the LT’s on the market.. Still it just isn’t a good position to be in with only one true LT. What if Smith gets injured who steps in? Ndukwe? Alleman?

CMatthews put it best; (in reference to Haley and Pioli constructing this O line)

In fact, I learned from them. I just bought a Bugatti Veyron and parked it in a special place in my backyard with the keys in the ignition. I’m not worried though, I put a rope fence arouund it.

all I can say is

how lucky are we that this happened after facing Baltimore, Philly, and the Giants?

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

Here's the real question

would it have been worth keeping Damion McIntosh? Of course we were all happy to see him go, but he is a lineman who actually has EXPERIENCE playing LT. I’m not sure the same could be said for anyone else on our current roster.
