Chiefs Could Activate Barry Richardson

Last Sunday the Kansas City Chiefs were down to five offensive linemen after LT Branden Albert and RG Mike Goff went down with injuries.

With Albert's status uncertain for Sunday, the Chiefs could promote tackle Barry Richardson from the practice squad head coach Todd Haley said today.

"I would say there’s a chance of that, too," Haley said when asked about Richardson possibly being promoted.  "We just have to evaluate today’s tape and see where we’re at and try to make the right decision."

Richardson played right tackle during the preseason but was placed on the practice squad last month.

Like we told you earlier, Albert could be active even if he's not starting.  My best guess is that Richardson's best chance of being promoted is if Albert can't go.

The Chiefs have a couple of other linemen on the practice squad but Richardson has the most experience and could backup either tackle position.

Things could be worse.  The Redskins left tackle Chris Samuels could miss the entire season according to recent reports.

well...

B-Rich is probably a better Tackle than Wade Smith…

so… whatever

:)

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Hmm///

Depends on how you want to lose yards though…

Penalties (wade)

or

Sacks (Barry)

Wade may give you both, though...

Who Cares

I really don’t care who plays. I wish we could just win one game. If we ever win one game this year I am just going to start drinking afterwards and party for the rest of the night.

Did I just read Goff is hurt?

Sorry, I hate for anyone to be injured but I am pretty damn happy of this news. I sense a dramatic improvement in the o-line on Sunday. Hey, we won’t be playing leapfrog at least in FG formation.

B-Rich sounds like you might get your shot......again !

Don’t F-IT up Barry ! Roster position and playing last year and demoted to practice squad this year sure would motivate me !

Questions...... If B-Rich is activated who gets cut from the 53 ?

If he gets activated this weekend can he be deactivated a second time to the practice squad after Albert is healthy ?

we added that LB though right?

I’m guessng O’connel to waivers

O'Connell gets cut

and then added to the practice squad. I can’t believe we’ve had 4 TE’s on the active roster this long.

by ICTChief on Oct 16, 2009 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions

It is ridiculous we are carrying TE.

Especially since none are great special teams players or great blockers.

I always thought Richardson would be good

If nothing else this would be his last chance to prove he’s worth keeping around.. Maybe Haley will wise up and finally put Ndukwe in at RG too.
