Carr is the forgotten corner. Flowers stands front and center for this Chiefs defensive secondary, and rightly so, but the Brandon on the other side isn’t too shabby either. Carr’s accomplishment’s often go overlooked, such as his stride-for-stride coverage on Cowboys WR Mile Austin on third down last Sunday in overtime. The play ultimately gave the Chiefs the football at mid-field with a chance to win.

Best CB duo since Carter/Hasty
Carr and Flowers may not get tons of interceptions but they do break up a lot of passes. But man, they’re only 23! that’s such a bright spot for this team in the next few years.

Why the hell wasn't he on Austin for THE play!
The one that busted our chance of winning, the one that made Austin look like Michael Crabtree in the TTU vs UT game, the one that I still can’t believe freakin happened.

Carr got burned all game against Austin.

No shit
He had a chance to make that play vs Austin, but Austin just wanted the ball more. (I can’t remember what play I’m referring to, but ya’ll know what play I mean)

easier to remember the bad than good
tis the life of a cornerback. But remember that TD he broke up with his hands?

No
CB is still a huge need for this team.
by wilson123 on Oct 16, 2009 10:03 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Starters are fine
the HUGE need is a pass (and LBs who can cover). Opposing QBs have too much to easily find a man open.

how is CB a huge need for us please explain this

think he's referring to Leggett and Washington
Not sure if any team has a great nickel or dime CB. otherwise, they’d be starters!

i guess but there are bigger needs then that right now

I think if the Safety play was better...
the CB would look a LOT better
Also, if the pass rush got to the QB, that’d help too
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Yep
if the safety had done his job on those two Austin TDs then the corner play wouldn’t even be a subject of discussion.

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THIS?!?
Who cares where the safety is? Leggat makes the tackles, Mike Brown could be up in section 207 buying a hot dog and it wouldn’t matter.

I must admit
I have no idea if there is actually a section 207, and if there is, I don’t know if they have a hot dog vendor.

A professional football player should not need help to wrap up a tackle when he has 2 arms around him.
Plus does anyone really know what the D-playcall was? Maybe his assignment took him to the other side of the field?

Completely depends on the play call.
by JComp11 on Oct 16, 2009 11:34 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
There's a reason his position is called
Safety …right?
by jmcgoblue on Oct 16, 2009 11:48 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Doesn’t mean he is always going to be back their. There is no excuse for missing the tackle, it’s not like he was running in the open field.
by JComp11 on Oct 16, 2009 12:08 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
i said he should be able to make that play but...
it still doesnt mean ounce the play is developing the safety cant react just because of the play called on D and if the freakin CB cant make the play then the safety should have already seen the play and where its going and already be on the way to the ball no matter the play call.

So if the safety is covering someone else or helping out a blown coverage he should be able to run across the field while the ball is in the air? The corner is making the play because his job is to cover the receiver. The safety isn’t specifically designated to be there so he may be anywhere on the field, depending on the defensive play call.

didnt i say the cb is supposed to make the play
but there has to be someone close by to pick it up if the cb cant make the play unless they are blitzing almost everyone.

Maybe they were blitzing or maybe he had another assignment. My point is you don’t know. The CB should’ve made the tackle, simple as that.
by JComp11 on Oct 16, 2009 2:22 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
i already said the CB shoulda made the play
and the last thing ima say is. IMO if your playing a team who has a guy like austin who burned you already in the game and you leave one guy on him to make the play when they couldnt before then later when the game is on the line and you do the same thing leave one guy on him thats not very smart

but a professional reciever should be able to break a rookie db tackle
football is a team game and everyone on that field is exceptionally talented. that is why brown should have been there.

But Washington is a Pioli guy, so he'll be a star
That’s how it works, right? ;)
I think we’re fine at CB. Pretty much all these guys are 2nd year players or rookies, none of them have reached their potential yet.
