Will Clark make a move if....
First, I have been vocal in my support of giving Haley a chance to be successful. I hear many things about his approach and see him show his emotions on the sideline. At the same time, I have no idea what is said behind closed doors so it is hard for me to pass judgement on how he treats his players from a 360 degree perspective.
In listening to his press conference, I enjoy his honesty and his high football IQ. He comes across as pretty honest in how he expresses himself.
All that aside, one thing that drove me nuts about Lamar was his willingness to wait and hope...He would wait to make changes in the HOPE things were going to improve. This lead to terrible football for more than 15 years in KC.
Will Clark have the same patience? If we end up 1-15, 0-16, 2-14 and the team is not showing a great deal of progress will Clark insist changes are made?
Like many of you, I would have loved for Bill Cowher to be our coach. If this team continues to falter it will lose the quickly disappearing fan base it has started to lose already. At that point, will Clark make a decision to make a big step to not only try to improve his team but also to re-energize his fan base?
The next 2.5 months will be very interesting to watch.
For now, go Chiefs and win one in Washington.
Thanks for reading
Ray

Haley seems a bit less "arrogant" than when he first got here, and that's a good thing (IMNSHO)
but I wasn’t impressed with him before and I’m not at all impressed with him now … firing the OC was one thing, but the timing of it was insane … his “motivational techniques” seem to be not working in the slightest, his gift as an offensive wunderkind is anything but apparant, he’s a 1st year HC biting off more than he can chew and it’s all coming back to bite his a$$ … the guy may (or may not) have lost the team already and I’m honestly shocked that LJ and a few others haven’t already tossed him under the bus (then too, maybe LJ has and is showing it thru his atrocious play)

Is a whole different topic. But I believe Haley is a rather good HC considering what he inherited. To turn around a team such as the chiefs in one year is one hell of a wish. Patience is key for this franchise (easier said than done). Think of the amount of time Pioli and Haley had to set up a team for this year. Haley obviously didn’t like what he saw in Chan, so why keep him any longer?
Not to be looking past this season, but this is going to be another big off season for the Kansas City Chiefs. I expect to see some coaching changes as well as plenty of personnel changes in the 53 man roster.

I agree on the patience
Swish, I agree on the patience and do think Pioli got in the game late to have a tremendous impact this past spring on FA and the draft. Heck he changed a lot of personnell people after the draft.
Still, this franchise is a historically bad 2-28 and if they really lose 14-16 games this year, the fan base will really really shrink. If Bill is out there and wants to coach….. it would be a tough decision for Clark to make IMO.
Just an interesting sub topic as the season moves along.

"But I believe Haley is a rather good HC considering what he inherited"
I quit reading your post after I read that…..The guy hasn’t won a single game yet, so I’m having a hard time buying any argument that he’s a good coach.

Nice post and good thoughts...
To me, this is just as much about Pioli as it is Haley….If you want Cowher, then he’ll want full control which means saying adios to Pioli and I don’t think there’s anyway that happens.
GMs have to be at least a little arrogant by the nature of their job and there’s no way Pioli gives up on Haley IMO (I don’t think this is a Clark thing for several years).

Agreed
2-3 years. As you interviewed Clark did he seem like an impatient person? Or practical?

God i would have loved to have Cowher or even Marty back...
Things i think would be a hell of alot better. Look at what Marty and Cowher did for us and even after Marty left look what he did with the Chargers…led them to a 14-2 season…
Then the year after he leaves they go downhill…coincidence? Who knows but i would love to let them have a shot at being a HC for the Chiefs again.

I wish we would have gone after Marty, Cowher, or Shanny

any of those would have wanted far more control (as HC) than Pioli would have allowed ...
and I personally wouldn’t want Shanny to begin with

Who knows??? The fact that we don't see the 360 degrees of things is dead right
He could be one way on the field and another in the locker room. Plus with a 2-14 team, maybe you have to hit hard and furious…shock and awe…maybe you need to see who’s got the staying power and who was here collecting a paycheck at our expense.
We don’t KNOW shit. We have never any of us, been at one single private meeting between Pioli clark or Haley or the team. We have NO idea. We don’t know because we have absolutley NO history to pull from
Clark is new to this ownership thing, so we don’t have ANY idea what he’ll be like as an owner, hell he may not know yet either.
Pioli first time GM…we have absolutely NO history on him as “the man” the GM in charge so we don’t know anything about what his style as a GM will be.
Most of us probably didn’t know anything much about him other than his name if that before we heard of him coming to KC.
Haley , first year HC. Same thing..no history as a HC, so NO idea what he is like behind closed doors. Your going to have whiners when you’ve been coached by laid back Herm edwards whose idea of hard work was trying not to sleep through practice and then a no nonsense bulldozer like Haley comes along and DEMANDS you actually try, care and work for it like you want it.
This also adds to the frustration I’m sure at times. But it also adds to the excitement…we have no idea what we’re in for yet…except what we can already see…which is…..well… you know what it is.
