Should Haley have gone for two for the win after "The Drive"
I know, Monday morning quarterback and all the other anologies you can come up with but, I gotta tell ya, I really would have considered going for the win at the end of regulation instead of taking my chances in overtime. We are so desperately in need of a win that I felt Haley should have considered it.
I don't think he expected Cassel to get the touchdown so, he hadn't even considered it as an option. Surely, we have a two point conversion play in the book somewhere that we have practiced don't we?
Is there a coaching rule that would have been violated if we had gone for two?
I just wanted a win somehow, someway, anyhow, anyway we can get it.

yeah if it was me i would have went for two. but im not a coach and i would also go for forth and short past the fifty everytime too. but thats not football. if Haley would have gone for it and we didn’t get it people would be calling for his head. we had the momentum going into overtime. you kick the pat. even though it seemed like we were pretty much on the road. trust me i was at the game
I was so mad when they went for the PAT instead of the 2 Point
blah blah blah shows that haley believes in his team we had the game right there and if we came up short so be it OT gave dallas the bigger chance. i hated to PAT call and the 2 point play your talking about it woulda been abvious but the play we used when vrabel caught the TD use that play but dont have vrabel in there use someone else like um ryan to be the target flip it to the other side BAM we win

It probably wouldn't have worked
We have a terrible line. We cannot run the ball. If we hand off down there we porbbly lose yards and the game.
That means we have to pass and that makes us predictable.
It is a moot point. We won the toss. We got two offensive chances in OT to put it away.
If Haley would have gone for two…
If Mike Goff came out of his f’ing stance…
If D Bow got the PI call on the slant in OT…
If Succup could kick a 77 yard FG…
If the line could block…
If Mike Brown didn’t miss his tackle…
If Leggett didn’t miss his tackle…
We would have won he game. But none of that stuff happened…
So we didn’t.

Basically
If we didn’t suck we would have won.
Haley going for 2 is irrelevant.

Hind sight is 20/20
at time it was the right call. I stand by it.
A man who says he can, and a man who says he can't are both right. Which one are you?
I think the old addage is...
Go for the tie at home, and go for the win on the road. He did the right thing they couldn’t close it out.
Agreed - plus if we had won it it would have been more likely to have carryover
if we did it in OT.

I was thinking at the time
that the accepted folklore is to go for the tie on the road and the win at home. But, this is obviously a gross oversimplification and maybe doesn’t even make sense at all. At first I thought he should go but I quickly dumped that idea because I felt strongly that we simply wouldn’t be able to pull it off. And, it does signal desperation and lack of trust in the team we have, I guess. Perhaps.
But, agree with others here, if he’d gone and not made it people would be pissed at that too. It’s a no win.
The real lesson is that sudden death overtime is the stupidest rule going. The NFL should play a whole quarter of OT. Granted, we did get two chances this time but that’s not common in my view.
Air Cassel - approved for takeoff
I Have Blasted Haley For Much Of The Year
But even I won’t second-guess the decision to kick the extra point. I think it’s ridiculous for a team to go for two to end it considering the low percentage for 2 point conversions. You’ve got better odds of winning the coin flip in OT and driving into field goal range.

Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

Should not have allowed the blocked FG
Last week during the Giants game it was pointed out by the announcers that the center and left guard on the FG unit both dive straight down to the turf to cut down the D line. Obviously the Cowboys studied it because dude just hurdled them and had a free shot at the kick. The last FG Succop made the center and guard both stood up and punched their man in the chest effictively blocking them. We should not have ever trailed in the game.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
then the whole town would have hated him because he went for it and didnt get it, we had our chances in OT just didnt capitilize. I dont think any coach in the NFL would have done that when there at home, now on the road is a diffrent story but no he shouldnt have gone for it
wrong, wrong, wrong - all of ya's - there is indeed an age-old coaching rule ...
you play to tie the game
and y’all call yourselves fans … tsk tsk
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
I was saying during the game thread to go for 2.
Its pretty evident that we aren’t going to the playoffs so why not leave it all on the field. Especially since our Defense was pretty much incapable of stopping them.
