Any Chief on that list would be upsetting,

but for it to be our pro bowl veteran who is suppose to be leading that poor excurse for a line pisses me off.

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

And how many holding penalties has he had.

Waters has taken a lot of penalties at bad times.

Someone mentioned it yesterday

but I think Waters should be moved to center. He’s played there before and he’s much more powerful than Rudy. I don’t think he has the athleticism to pull as much as Haley wants them to…

Ideally, I’d love to see Waters at center, Albert moved to LG in the off-season then draft a LT and fix the right side in free agency, with someone on the current roster (Ndukewe at RG? O’Callahan long term answer at RT?) or through the draft.

I dunno

Waters is just going through the motions. I get the impression that he’s not into being a Chief anymore. His head isn’t in the game and he’s not playing like the pro-bowler he’s supposed to be.

Nieswanger is garbage plain and simple. I watched the game for a 2nd time last night and was apalled when on a running play, DALs NT absolutely blew him up and shoved him backwards like 5 yards…. right as LJ was getting the handoff. He’s just awful. Watch how the center of the line collapses on pass protection too.

We could always use Alleman at center

Thats where he was last year when he had success

A man who says he can, and a man who says he can't are both right. Which one are you?

by Bashman on Oct 13, 2009 1:50 PM CDT reply actions

Let me add to that...

It seems unrelated but I think that if Waters had more confidence in the guy next to him he would not feel as obligated to get a jump on the defenders.

Or it could be, he has lost a step or two and going against

younger or better players or both on def. the same reason for a lot of holding calls around the league, can’t beat ’em HOLD ’em

It pains me to type this but....

He just hasn't looked the same this year

Dammit

add it on the long list of things to do this off season

Find an OC
Find a competent DC
Improve talent in the secondary
Positions needing to be filled- LG,RG,C,ILB,OLB,S, #2WR, etc etc this is going to be a long process

Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.

O'Callaghan

Could be the guy…

But, I’ll agree that another Tackle has to be located…. if nothing else for Depth.

Remember Colin brown and Barry Richardson could be back next year.
So, the OL could realistically be

Albert/ ?… Waters/ Smith…. Rookie C / Niswanger….Ndukwe / Brown… O’Callaghan / Richardson

Or, even better

Okung…. Albert / Alleman…. O’Dowd / Waters… Ndukwe / Brown…. O’Callaghan/ Richardson

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

by stagdsp on Oct 13, 2009 2:40 PM CDT up reply actions

my point was...

Drafting a starting LT, and moving Albert is a possibility
Drafting a backup LT, AND a starting C would be good too
Drafting Waters’ replacement would be smart, whether he stays or goes

IF...

They draft an offensive lineman in the first, it needs to be a LT. Otherwise I wouldn’t draft another OL position in the first. Just hear me out. Good OL CAN be found outside of the 1st round. I’d say get a stud LB with the first. Or (cue the raving mad haters)… a nose tackle. I could see them doing that IF Tank doesn’t pan out, but he’s having a decent enough year to not have to worry about it. Even a WR in the 1st would be a good pick. And here’s why: We need play makers. Plain and simple. We really don’t need another foundation piece (OL, DL) with a first rounder. We need a guy that can bring big play impact. I’m thinking either LB or WR. The WR needs to be FAST though. I’m talking think like Al Davis when you make the selection fast.

Then grab an OG and C with our two 2nds. Albert + two 2nd rounders + O’Cally/Ndukwe/Alleman. I’ll take my chances with 5 of those to start next year. Then a LB or WR with the 3rd (opposite of what they take in the 1st).

This year may be a wash, but I’m going to see how Pioli pans out over the next couple of years. He came here to build a champion. He will do that through the draft. He’s already loading up on picks for this draft. It’ll be interesting to see what he does with them.

Good thoughts

I agree… LT in the first or OL in the 2nd/3rd…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

Mays/Berry in the first… could be the best players in the draft… AND a HUGE position of need for KC… no-brainer.

WR/KR in the 2nd or 3rd…. C (hopefully O’Dowd) in the 2nd… and a pass rushing LB and ILB where ever they can be found.

But, I sincerely hope they don’t take a NT in the first. that’d be a waste, IMO.

Agree with yous guys.

I say trade down out of the early 1st we’re likely to end up with, then go best available O linemen.

I think you can get KRs on the second day

but a WR, yes. I’m for OL, S, or LB in the first round (in that order) best player available. But I want to see OL in Rd 2 if they go elsewhere in round 1. I’m OK with WR in round 3 if we don’t have the others. I think our WR corp is greatly improved. They just need to be given time to get open by having a better O line.

yep...

I say S, OL, or LB in that order for rd 1
OL with at least 1pick of the 2nd round
WR/KR anytime

is he...?

checked out? I wonder if that’s what he decided to do once we didn’t trade him.
