For those that think that #31 is the goat of the Dallas game
The situation called for aggressive CB play and the truth be told, the offense sucked it up the whole game outside of 2 drives in the 4th quarter. With 10 points on the board and less than 100 yards on offense the defense did it's job. Half of the Chiefs points were scored with the Chiefs having a total of 23 yards on offense.
Maybe he shouldn't have left his feet to make a play on the ball but you really can't kill him for that. The offense lost that game. Plain and simple. How about the first score? Leggett recovers a muffed punt at the Dallas 23. The offense in turn loses 5 yards in 3 plays and kicks a FG. Next score the D forces a turnover and the offense actually converts that one for a TD. The Chiefs are up by 10 with 24 yards of total offense at this point. That is total points with the offense doing squat. The next FG.... The Chiefs start the drive at the KC 44 and drive a whole 36 yards to the 20 before kicking another FG.
Time after time the D set the offense up with good field position. The offense really only had 2 good sustained drives int he whole game. One ended up being a blocked FG and the other was a TD to Bowe. The D got an awesome stop in overtime forced a 3 and out and gave the offense great field position again. What did they do with it? They got one whole yard and punted away.
I know some people are unable to process more than one play. That is understandable. But facts are facts and the offense is the goat of the game not Leggett.

Can agree mostly
Leggett did play a good game and yes our safetys were out of position. I think we should of sent Leggett on the blitz instead since he was being sort of a ball hawk that game anyway. Flowers should of been on Austin.

This loss is not the fault of the offense
It isn’t solely Leggett’s fault either, but to blame the offense is wrong. Leggett played aggressive on that play, and when you do so, you either make a big play or get burned. Leggett got burned there, and the safety didn’t make the play either.

If the defense gets you the ball at midfield in ot,
you must score.

I agree about Mo Leg Bones
The guy was trying to make a play and the safety let him down. He isn’t free from blame but he is far from the reason we lost.
The D showed up in OT and got us another shot. We needed to take advantage and we didn’t. Ball game.
There is a lot of blame to go around. My favortite punching bag these days is Mike “Jack” Goff. If he simply raises his head on that FG we probably don’t need overtime.

Cowboys don't fumble twice early and miss a FG there IS no OT ...

first off legget needs to give up that number there is only one legen that deserves that number and thats priest
second off legget has been getting burned the entire season. and its not entirely his fault he doest get good saftey help or good pass rush but either way you have to make a stop right there and just make the tackle. period.

Priest was good for what he cost
until he started costing the Chiefs on the big payday(s) that never amounted to anything more than him not playing for a year and a half. I don’t particularly like the guy and don’t think he deserves his number retired before Roaf, Shields, or Waters (or even throw TOny Gonzo in that mix). They were the reason for his success, and LJ’s. They could have made any average RB look great.

I don't think leggett was the goat
brown, however, WAS the goat. Sure, leggett missed a couple of sure tackles, but the guy is a nickleback and is not known for his tackling so what do you expect? Brown was in position to clean up both of those big plays and just sat there while austin ran right past him. I blame leggett, sure, but brown is really the one who gave up those plays. the position is called “SAFETY” for a reason.

I recall people bitching
about them not playing Leggett more and allowing him to “ball hawk.” (I really hate that term)
“OOOOH! BdotFlowers is out, the don’t know about MoLeg! He’ll get dozens of pick 6’s!” – random AP commenter about the Ravens game.
It’s really simple… Leggett was doing what he does. There was no help behind him when there SHOULD have been. Especially when they got burned by the same player, on the same play, not 15 minutes (game time) before that.
I’m just not impressed by what everyone seemed to call the Chiefs strong suit prior to the season (the secondary).

I was of the fold that said that the secondary was our ace
I am not impressed.. They played well last season, and Pendergast always churned out good secondaries in Arizona.. What happened? Maybe it’s a result of playing a ton of good teams early (with the exception of Oakland)

Dallas isn't a good team
not to mention getting your ass handed to you on the same play, by the same player, because of the same mistake(s) shouldn’t happen.
I feel like every year I’m reliving the same Chiefs defense that had Eric Warfield on it from 2003….

The offense was
The defense has been a pleasant surprise all year. I’m really impressed with Vrable.

well said
The Safety IS called a “safety” for a reason…
they are supposed to be there, and not let anything past them deep.
Three Chiefs needing replaced: Goff, Brown, Niswanger (honorable mention to Page)

* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009

no way on Page
all the big plays this year have been short yardage passes turned giant gain. Page is our FS for a long time

But, it sure seems like he’s always a step behind the receiver…

I've seen the play about a million times on ESPN
Mike Brown took a horrible angle on Miles Austin after he caught that pass.. I’m on board the Taylor Mays in 2010 bandwagon officially

I like Berry better
But I don’t think it would be settling for Mays
Predictions for 2009:
LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6

I thought one was a FS and one was a SS
Mays SS and Berry FS?
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09

Mays can play both...
Berry is the true FS…
We need help at both positions…

You can spin this anyway you want but the truth is in the tape...
The guy tried to arm tackle and failed to even slow him down rather just slid right off him. You can split the blame on both Leg. and Brown but it still boils down to the same point that both players failed to produce results.
1. Due to sub standard physical ability
2. Due to bad form…
The 1st rule of thumb for any player on defense is to know how to wrap up and tackle correctly. Unfortunately that is a lost art in the NFL and a forgotten practice in KC for the past decade.
