A Note on the Negativity

Good evening everyone,

It's been tough being a Chiefs fan this season since 2007. Any time a team is losing, and losing badly like the Chiefs have, you're going to have more negative comments than positive comments.

And that's perfectly okay. People are frustrated. I'm frustrated. Negativity isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it's been warranted recently.

Negativity becomes a bad thing when it isn't followed by anything constructive to say. "Haley is a dumbass" following by nothing adds zip to the conversation. Zero. Zilch.

That comment may fly during the 3,500 comments on game day (for the record, I hate it even then) but it doesn't fly during the week in a 30 comment thread by one of our contributors who busted their ass writing a good post.

This is just a short reminder to Stop. Breathe. Think. And then Post. Are you really adding anything to the conversation with your comment? Or are you just venting and hoping to bait a few people into some attention-getting comments?

If you can't be positive, then constructively criticize. If you can't constructively criticize, well then, you're counting down the hours until you're not able to post on Arrowhead Pride anymore.

It really is that easy people.

Plus, I've gotten a taste of just how much fun it is to ban people (We've banned less than 35 users in over three years which is an extremely high degree of leniency IMO) and with nearly 20,000 visits a day, I simply cannot and do not have the patience to deal with some needy jackass who can't control their emotions.

We cool?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

J/king. Nothing aggravates me more in a gameday thread than one poster posting OMG CHEIFS ZUCK AZZ 50 times in one thread every time a frustrating play happens.

I've got this friends Wilmer

He’s an immigrant facing deportation. Things aren’t exactly going his way. He always tells me, “Rasta, you’ve got to stay positive and let the good life come to you.” We all could take a lesson from his wisdom. This team stinks on dry ice but lets Dorsey is looking good, Cassel looks better each week, and we have the best tandem of kickers in the league. Things aint that bad.

first off, remove the caps-lock on the keyboard ...

now then, the next thing is to pretend that you’re blonde and write yourself a note to look at when things are tough, the note should read:

breathe in
breathe out
breathe in
breahte out

finally, remind yourself often that YOUR team, the Chiefs, went to the VERY FIRST EVER Super Bowl … that the late owner of your team came up with the name “Super Bowl” to begin with … that your team won more games in the 90’s than any other (or at least damn close to it) … and that your team will be the “official team” of Tony Gonzalez when he goes into the Football Hall of Fame as THE Greatest Tight End Ever Ever Anywhere

lastly, remind yourself that hey, it HAS to get better

ah yes this works out pretty well from the both of you...but thanks...

Im gonna go enjoy myself tomorrow and tell everyone that my team won more games 2 decades ago than any other, even though none of them were alive. Then ill tell them that my team won the superbowl 40 years ago and that they should bow down and respect the chiefs for starting the NFL we know now. I mean its easy to respect a team that hasnt won a game…

NJ...see you think like an old timer no matter your age..

you don’t have to live through 35 years of this shit to realize something is fucked up here. And it isn’t gonna change with the same ol’ same ol’….it’s cool that we have a forum to gripe, because believe it or not…it is the beginnings of the information age and believe me the NFL is a business……..

they check out these sites….we pay their salary’s……so it matters if you win or lose and your right…it’s been forever too long since we’ve had a legitimate reason to be genuinely proud here….

I want the pride back here again….this is a sickening time here and it’s been here for 40 plus years……yet this year after a long super bowl draught we still managed to break a record for the single season sack low??? This is a bad bad bad bad team..

I know my message gets twisted but here it is plain and sweet; if we bitch loud enough and we stand together then the owner’s and the gm’s and the coaches who want to stay employed get motivated real quick…..we have shut up too long now…it’s time to stand up and speak up..not AT each other …but vent WITH each other….it’s okay…

you can bitch about Haley and me Cassel and him …whoever…and the next guy can spin a perspective that we can both learn from….it’s how we cope with being what we actually are….and that’s sad.

Just remember that being a Fan of a losing team and What We are. Are not the same thing. We all are successfull in something other than our choice of teams to root for. We Are not Sad, out team might be currently but this Team is not what makes each of us Us. Sad people truly don’t care about anything, I can attest that depression makes you care about Nothing.

I so have to save this post for a paper I’m doing. What an experiment in human mentality.
This post brought out everyone who felt like they were the one being specifically talked about in this post.
Everyone who didn’t want to be singled out. Anyone who was scared of being banned from the herd. A threat. A real one no doubt, but still a threat of anonymous execution and my how we all showed up in rare form.
You all thought Chris was talking about something you all did recently to set him off…are you crazy?? Seriously your just paranoid if you think this was about you, when clearly it was about me…and also..myself. Well both of us really…

How to vent 101

First off you have to realize that your not alone, many Chiefs fans are not in KC thus are what we consider as in “Hostile Territory”. That is why AP exist, a place for all Chiefs fans no matter where they are to have a place to come together and talk about our team. I myself live just outside New Orleans and the Saints being currently one of the best teams in the NFL for their very first time are making it very hard on me. When things are bad like in the 80’s sometimes you have to grin and bear it and hope that things turn around like they did in the 90’s.

Secondly, Sometimes we need to vent, we need to yell and scream and get the frustration out. The question is How do we do that without saying things we don’t mean or without getting banned right? The answer is very simple. Open up your word possessing program I. E. Word, word pad or whatever Apple has and start writing. Get it all out say whatever you think you have to, yell and scream all you want then Here is the hard part….Save it just sit on it for let’s say 2 to 3 days. During that time your waiting, read AP do not post just read and see if anyone else has posted what you are thinking and what the replies are like for it.

I’ve noticed most of the negative post come on game day or in the morning after. But after things have cooled down and clearer minds have finally gotten heard things often do not look as bad as they have seem. Now after your 2 to 3 day cool down go back and read the post you wrote and see if you want to make any changes (like the whole thing) Or if you even feel the need to make that post. If you still want to make the post that’s fine that’s what AP is for just make sure you are clear why your upset and be ready to defend your statements. If your able to do these things I think you’ll find AP to be open to discussing your thought’s rather than just bashing them for being posted in the heat of the moment.

These ideas and thought’s are my own, and do not in anyway represent any official policy of Arrowhead Pride. This is submitted as a possible lesson I have learned over the years. I am a Chiefs fan since 1969, and I have seen both the good times and the bad come and go more than a few times. As a loyal fan I have done my yelling and screaming and have learned that time changes all things, and with time as long as I can see some improvement I still have faith in My Chiefs. We all knew this wasn’t going to be our Season but we can see that given time things can turn around and I believe that the Chiefs will in 2 or 3 seasons be a much better team than they are now, and I’m going to be there when they do.

is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

Yes people here should understand and… although I am guilty too of being irrational and stupid at times…. it really is quite irratating to see all the post like “Haley= Hitler” and “Cassel sucks” with no real backup informaton or anything, just seems to be thrown out there to stir shit. But what they hey, I’m not calling the shots around here, just try to contribute the best I can. I still firmly believe in trashtalkiing any and all Raiders and their fans with absolute no reasoning but other than the fact that they are who they are! But… that’s just me.

People need to watch games this year with their heads and not their hearts.

Watch the game and play armchair GM, don’t worry about wins and losses. Watch the games intellectually and not emotionally. We all knew this team would struggle this year.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

I am not offended. Honestly, the vitriol was/is surprising.

We all seemed to know this season was going to be a tough one to take, people seem to think they Chiefs were going to beat Baltimore, Philly and the Giants. So far we’ve been beaten by two teams clearly better than us, lost games where we were tied with more talented teams in the 4th quarter and then lost to the Raiders. Could we be 2-3 just as easily as 0-5? Sure, but does it matter? This isn’t a playoff team, it isn’t close to being a playoff team. We all knew that.

Personally, I think Haley would like to win some games but at the same time I think they are using these games to evaluate talent. I said back in the spring before the draft that there was no way the new regime new what they had with the majority of their players and it would take this season to really know. Except for Cassel. Pioli knew what he had with Cassel.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

I always wanted to know what everyone's def. of a fan is...

Is it someone who believes the team is the greatest?
Is it someone who lets realism put down others?
Is being a realistic fan and a fanboy the same thing or is one just being an ass or a dumass?
I DON’T KNOW…but I wanna know honestly.

That's a good question.

Some people think being a fan is blind loyalty no matter what happens. Some people think being a fan is listening to sports talk radio and spewing whatever nonsense those morons throw out. Some people think being a good fan is being loud (this is why I can’t go to sports bars to watch games). To me it’s like being a member of a family — you are loyal but you are honest. I really respect fans of teams that have sucked for years and years. My God, the loyal Royals fans???? Give those people medals! David Glass and Dayton Moore are never turning that ship around.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Well said & rec'd!

Fandom is a marriage of sorts thru thick & thin thru good times & bad. There are bound to be ups & downs but focusing on finding the silver lining & seeing improvement even if its something so simple as: “Well we should get a good draft pick next year or We could have lost by 3 TD’s rather than just 2 or We looked really sharp breaking the huddle today!” It’ll help you feel better about the Chiefs & feeling better about the Chiefs will have to brighten your entire outlook on everything! Losing sucks but more than likely the sun will come up again tomorrow with the promise of a better day!

I’ve used it as a moniker for years in everything from video games to blogs. Funny though, when the mlb missed the world series in ’94 i never got back into baseball. Go figger!

Wow - I thought I was the only one who stopped following MLB

When I mention that I haven’t watched a MLB games since they cancelled the World Series I get these “looks.” You know, like I’ve lost my mind (which is a distinct possibility). And I used to love MLB and Royals during the summer. I still love Baseball, but get my fix now mostly by seeing Minor league games.

Thanks, Buck’O – I don’t feel so alone anymore.

I’m one of those stats freaks and I put so much into being a fan of the game. When the greed on both sides canceled the world series, I felt enough betrayal to turn my loyalties elsewhere. Dove head-long into football, basketball and boxing and I’ve been pretty well rewarded for it.

Where do I start???

It started with the fact that Savage has been dropped to 3rd RB on the depth chart, even though he has been the MOST PRODUCTIVE RB who has played this season. (Has also looked the best doing it)

Then there’s this whole DJ thing. I realize the inconsistency that DJ has shown BUT, he is the most talented LB on the team w/o a doubt. For a team that is STARVED for talent, it makes no sense that a player like DJ would be riding the pine. BTW, he has made the 2 best defensive plays by ANYONE on the roster so far this season. If they have a problem with his consistency, they need to work with him instead of making him sit on the bench.

Then there’s the LJ thing. Everyone here knows that I have supported LJ but, I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong and, I was wrong. He needs to be the short yardage guy and Savage or Charles need to be the every down 1-2 punch due to their speed and ability to get to the edge more quickly. I am not saying LJ shouldn’t be playing at all but, his place should not be the every down RB due to the fact that his productivity has been shit!

These are just a few examples of why I truly do believe that Todd Haley is a dumbass and a piss poor Head Coach. Pair these up with some horribly predictable play calling on offense as well as tackling that is only matched by a pop warner team and you have a recipe for an 0-5 start which is exactly what we have here.

I would be more than happy to continue if you would like? I could go on and on about how Haley is NOT the right guy for this job. I know exactly what people will say…“give him time” blah blah blah. That’s all bullshit! He doesn’t deserve more time. If you can’t tell by his personnel decisions that he is completely incompetent, you have to be blind. i don’t need to suffer through 3 more losing seasons before they fire him just to start over with a whole new rebuild and 3 more years of shitty football. I don’t expect a winning record from this team but, I do expect the Coach to put the best players on the field in EVERY game. Stop fucking around with the roster and start putting a competitive product on the field.

Okay, now that I have properly explained myself, I feel better about the whole dumbass comment.

Savage has the highest YPC of all the RBs on the roster at this point (4.4 YPC)and is 3rd on the depth chart.

Williams has been consistently mediocre and has done NOTHING that could be construed as special.

Yes, I do think Haley is a dumbass because the personnel moves have been nothing short of moronic. Example: Mike Goff is still our starting RG.

As far as the Oakland comparison goes, that is what I would avoid instead of encourage. I say cut your losses before it turns into another Herm Edwards fiasco. I don’t need 3 years to see that Haley isn’t the right guy for the job. If you would like to compare, I guarantee you that I can show you more reasons he is the wrong guy than you can show me why he is the right guy.

by Chiefsfan1970 on Oct 13, 2009 11:11 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Who do we have that you would put in that is better than Goff? If he takes Goff out a couple games in to the season and it didn’t work out you would be on his ass for not letting the line build continuity.

I have no problem with Williams being in the game. He does his job. Obviously we disagree on that, but it’s not grounds to call Haley a dumbass.

The places I looked had Savage at 8.7 ypc this season. He should be in every down if you go by that. Take into consideration he has 3 carries and you might realize that it takes a much larger sample to get an idea of how successful a RB is in that category.

by JComp11 on Oct 13, 2009 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

JComp Wade Smith is better then Goff....

Also how can you call DJ inconsistent. He has had bad games but he hasn’t been inconsistent. Im not going to count this years stats because he has 2 of the Chiefs biggest plays and hasnt hardly seen the feild. His rookie year he had 95 tackles, His second year he had 76 but only played in 13 games, 2007 he had 93, Last year he missed time and was in a new position and still had 85 tackles. He also has 11 FF in those 4 years including 4 Last year. All of this and he has played for arguably the worst Defense over that span in football, which would only make him look worse. Consistently he has been the best player on our team over those 4 years besides maybe Brian Waters. I dont agree with the Savage claim, But I know LJ shouldnt be our RB.

Everyone Always say how inconsistent he is..

You told Cheifsfan to give evidence, well I would like yours on Derrick Jonshon

by darwithabar on Oct 13, 2009 12:40 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Demorrio has been more of an up and down player.

here is his tackle numbers the last 5 years. 56,127, 90, 78,62. Not missing a game in any of those years. I agree he should start and he is playing well. But if you tell me Mays should be starting over Derrick Johnson or even willims Starting over him your crazy.

by darwithabar on Oct 13, 2009 12:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The point he makes is that

He has been more consistent this year than DJ. DJ is not doing what he needs to do to be on the field. We just dont see his failings in practice.

I also agree goff should have started the year, but its time we move on and try alleman (sp, sorry, to lazy to check) I think O callahan is looking good at right tackle, though. Blocking looked better this week too.

Also, the spot Mays plays in the 3-4 is a totally diff position. DJ is not EVER going to be that guy, but call me crazy if you want…. :)

by The IT Guy on Oct 13, 2009 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Color me crazy too! :)

If we are going to compare what has happened in the past instead of how they are performing this year or if they are doing everything that is being asked of them, we have to remember that LJ has back to back 1700 yard seasons.
Apparently DJ isn’t performing to expectations or consistently or something. If he was outperforming Williams then DJ would be in there. No way is Haley going to cut his own throat or to coin a phrase: "Bite his nose off to spite his face.

by ttownmikey on Oct 13, 2009 2:02 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You may or may not be right about Haley cutting his own throat but...

From my seat, that looks to be exactly what he is doing with ALL of these moves. It’s not just about DJ. There is also LJ, and Goff as well as the fact that some of these other players should have a shot at playing. Let Lance Long take a few snaps as well as Savage, Lawrence, Battle etc. If you’re going to scrap the whole season (which it appears to be EXACTLY what he’s doing) you might as well take a look at all the young talent and see if any of these guys can play.

BTW: Maurice Leggett is dead to me.

I apologize, didn’t mean to get personal if I did. I thought we were having a good discussion. It just seems by your other posts that you disagree with everything Haley has done. My point, I guess, is that it’s easy to say we would make decisions, but how do we know that those decisions would be any better than what the current staff has done?

by JComp11 on Oct 14, 2009 10:51 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It's A Valid Question

I don’t know that signing Jason Brown would be an upgrade over Niswanger, but I suspect that would have been the case. Ultimately all football discussions that branch into what we would have done as opposed to what was done are crapshoots, because ultimately it really isn’t possibly to predict the future with certainty.

On the other hand, looking at what was done with the Chiefs this offseason, I think it’s blindingly apparent that they haven’t turned out a better product than what the Chiefs had last year (which shouldn’t have been that tough to do considering Haley’s assessment of 2-14 teams).

I disagree with that. This team looks much closer to being complete than last seasons did. We’ve been hearing the “few players away” argument for years, but this season it really looks to be that way.

It has to be taken into consideration that most teams that have a new coaching staff tend to struggle until they both completely buy in and get a feel for what the new staff is like. I think the first few games are indicative that the team is still in that stage. The drive to tie the game Sunday is something last years team would have never completed and little things like that are huge in the development of a young team.

It’s perfectly fine to question decisions that your favorite organization makes in every instance. Where it becomes a problem is when that questioning turns to insults. Everyone needs to keep in mind that it’s easy to look back and criticize decisions when what you would have decided will never actually be tested.

by JComp11 on Oct 14, 2009 12:18 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Complete?

They haven’t won a single game. They blew a game against what should be one of the two easiest teams on the schedule (and let JaMarcus Russell drive the field on them). This is not a football team that is remotely complete…they’ve gone backwards since last season.

As For The Staff

I think that Haley’s struggles running the offense, the team’s abysmal rankings that Chris cited earlier, and Haley’s behavior on the sidelines (as well as his actions in the Philadelphia game) are probably going to carry more weight with the players than Haley getting in their faces or Haley’s buddies on the coaching staff comparing him to Parcells.

And that’s not a good thing.

You’ve brought up his behavior a dozen times and how it’s going to piss the players off, yet we have heard nothing but praise from both current and former players. When someone brings something negative to the table I will take that into consideration.

And it is MORE complete than last year. Last years team ran a gimmick offense and the defense couldn’t do jack. This years defense can at least look decent and the offense has shown, at least a few times, that in can move the ball with a more traditional system.

Not From Larry Johnson

Who, frankly, has the least reason to bitch. He and Waters have both already had issues with the new regime. Both have alluded to the arrogance of the coaching staff in talking to the press. I suspect we’ll see more before long if the Chiefs don’t post a win.

Their starting running back is the worst in the league and their overall offense is bottom three. They couldn’t even win a game that the Cowboys went to tremendous lengths to give to them. This team is, production-wise, indistinguishable from Herm Edwards’ teams…and in several ways it is a worse squad.

Goff

I’ll agree with CF1970’s point there. Alleman, Ndukwe, Smith, whoever…they may or may not be better than Goff but they’re a hell of a lot younger than Goff so there’s at least potential for them to improve. Goff, on the other hand, was brought in as a guy who’d add current ability to the line. He’s not providing that in any capacity. Frankly, he’s been terrible. So dump him and let someone younger take over because a) he’s not helping Matt Cassel or the running game by starting, b) he’s not a significant upgrade over any of the other linemen who could play in that role, and c) he’s not young enough to be part of the future here.

There’s no upside in continuing to play Goff. He’s just an old guy who can’t hack it anymore. Not to take away from his previous career, which was solid, but he’s not that guy anymore and he probably never will be again.

At this point I agree. I thought that we should give them a chance to play together before dismantling it all, but Goff has had that chance. I think it’s time to give Alleman a shot. I still think they were right to at least give Goff the shot, but his time is up.

I Don't Have A Problem With Them Giving Goff A Shot

But keeping him in the lineup after his performance last week is indefensible. He’s done…he’s clearly done, and even a casual fan can see that. I don’t know why Haley can’t.

Probably So

I don’t think you want to be at the point where I am with the team. I’ve followed the Chiefs religiously for 20 years and frankly for the last five years (counting this one) every season has been worse than the one before with no end in sight. I had hope for Pioli and Haley, but all I see anymore is two guys with a lot of big promises who are turning a miscoached 2-14 mess into a talentless reincarnation of the 1960 Dallas Cowboys because for some reason they seem more interested in dumping the previous regime’s players (whether they’ve got talent or not) than winning a single game this year.

We’re not just bad this year…we’re an expansion team. Quite possibly the worst team in Chiefs history. And there’s no reason for it…teams that gut themselves to that degree usually don’t come back. Only one I can think of that did was the ‘89 Cowboys, but we haven’t got a Herschel Walker trade in the offing (or even one player remotely as talented as Walker to deal).

That was my whole point. He doesn’t need to say something is “bullshit” or call someone a “dumbass” to have intelligent conversation and argue your case. In fact, people are a lot more likely to take your opinion seriously if you don’t curse and let your emotions get to you.

Guilty

I’ll try to can my own negativity. It’s not easy to do, being a season ticket holder and watching each of these games in person. Hopefully I can be a good luck charm for the Chiefs in Redskinsville this weekend.

Sometimes They Don't Give You A Choice

Every community has its rules and some people just won’t respect the ones we put in place and cause a lot of friction with other people who try to respect the rules. So they get the boot just so they don’t drag everyone else into their games. Think of it as trimming up a nice lawn to keep it looking good.

Doesn’t mean that a ban is permanent…we do reinstate some people.

no no no

your kind of missing the point…there’s NOTHING wrong with venting or yelling or screaming about our team. Your entitled to be pissed off or angry or whatever…you can bash Cassel or Bowe or the whole team or you can love them and defend them…it’s cool..

that’s not what the negativity is about…it’s negativity towards each other…you don’t have to tell someone their fucking stupid (unless you know the person and your cool with joking like that) or your posts suck and you should stop posting or your a jerk..

personal insults like that are useless and dont’ have anything to do with the Chiefs..no one said you had to write super sweet things about our crappy 0-5 team…there’s not much good to say so unless your a liar you can’t help but talk about the crappiness.

When Chris burman or anyone really on any sports channel analyzes the Chiefs, they don’t say anything good either…but they don’t hate the Chiefs, their just telling the truth…so when they point out how terrible we are right now, their just being honest…

say what you want, no moderator is going to ban you for talking your honest opinion of the Chiefs even if it’s not positive…just don’t aim your comments at people…people have a right to post and comment whether or not you like it or agree with it…

so how about this; just be nice!

by krayfish on Oct 13, 2009 1:29 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

For example:

Since I am a “homer” & tend to look for the positives & improvements (even though they may be the tiniest of baby steps) rather than to harp on each & every detail that might possibly be “negative”; I might possibly consider the following quote from kray’s comment to be a personal attack on my integrity:

there’s not much good to say so unless your a liar you can’t help but talk about the crappiness.

However, it isn’t necessarily aimed at me as an individual & could be directed towards a large portion of the posters on here whom are able to deal with the adversity & find something good in it; therefore, I’m not Offended by it (it wasn’t meant to be offensive to me) but others might be (as sensitive as some of us are geting!)
Also kray & I both realize that we are both Chiefs fans & are both hoping for the same end result but currently we are standing on opposite sides of the chasm that is currently Chiefs nation!

PS. A smiley face helps also! :)

Neither do the Broncs

They make up for that with good play calling and better coaching. I do think they are more talented, but no way they are one of the top 15 most talented teams.

Yah well could be worse...

Herm could still be the coach… Not saying one coach is better than the other but after last year I can’t even listen to Herm speak anymore. At least this team has at least a little bit of conviction as opposed to last years team that pretty much rolled over against everybody.

I know there were some close games last season but I NEVER thought KC would win when they played anyone except Oakland. At least this year I feel like there is at least a little bit of progress (a consistant QB and a kicker who can sometimes kick touchbacks) and there is at least a chance at an upset.

My gf is a Cowboys fan… If I can keep myself from blowing a gasket this Monday on here then so can anyone. :-)

I almost cried.

When your team is a losing team...

Wins and losses aren’t all you should look at. Yes they are important but any team under playoff contention are looking (should be looking) at how they can improve and that is how I have to judge the Chiefs. When Herm was here we were talking about a rebuilding decade (and I thought the GM may have been stupid enough to let it happen). Now we are talking 2 or 3 years and if there is no improvement there will be more changes. Haley and Pioli have done so much talking that they wont get the patience other coaches and managers have had in the past.

Things may be bad right now, but for the most part we don’t have a QB controversy every week, and no matter what the record, for me that is a improvement. If Cassel shows nothing this year, maybe a legit controversy arises but hes been decent so far and just having a guy who is “the guy” is huge.

by Lucasjr5 on Oct 14, 2009 7:36 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

Ignoring Wins And Losses

Worst defense in the league. Starting running back who is getting 2.4 yards per carry. Offensive line that can’t protect the QB. 30th ranked offense in the NFL. Talent or performance issues for starting positions at RB, RT, RG, C, LG, LT, WR, TE, DE, DT, ILB, SS, and FS. Age issues at RB, RG, LG, OLB, SS.

Where are these bright spots we should be looking at?

but for the most part we don’t have a QB controversy every week

Not according to Haley the first two weeks of the season.

You just seem like your searching for something....

I dont agree with you one bit, We have young talent at LT, DT, DE, CB, QB, WR, RB, and K. We have 2 above average LBs, A solid LG, A couple guys that could add depth to our OL if we make a couple upgrades, and Ryan O Callohan looks like he could be a starter in this league so far. Seriously, I totally disagree. I hope I dont get in trouble for this but I think your emotions as a fan are clogging your mind and veiws of the team. Your taking the losses too personally ( and I take them bad) Why I think you and some other fans are taking them way to personally is this: The misfortune of OUR team is making your ability to look at any bright spot on the team totally inept. Seriously, I think you should take a break.

We Have Potential At Some Positions

But right now Albert is playing terribly even when healthy (I don’t know what Muir is doing to him, but he seems to have regressed), I’ll disagree that we have talent at DT (Dorsey is now a DE…and I think Tank Tyler is just not that good of a player), we have talent at DE but it’s not doing well (I suspect that Krumrie is a factor in that more than the players), we have an old, washed-up starter at RB and a backup RB with potential that can’t hold onto the ball (and as much as I like Jamaal Charles, if he can’t stop fumbling he’s not an asset).

I do agree with the talent at CB and K. It appears that I may well have been wrong about Succop (we’ll see after the season) which I’m happy about and I’m hoping that the CBs will be better now that they have an actual DB coach-type checking in on them with Otis Smith (Clancy Pendergast, IMO, was not a help pulling double duty with them).

More then you were wrong about Succopp....

You were wrong for likeing Barth, He is an OK Kicker but their are better ones like Succoup that can be had. Also, The CBs have been playing Good (Our Starters). Tank Tyler has 22 tackles. Its obviou that my prior statement is true and I stand by it.

I am somewhat amazed by how many people have completely misinterpreted this post.

I really don’t know how much clearer Chris can make it.

Negativity is OK. This isn’t “Blow Smoke Up Your Ass” Pride.

All Chris is saying is do not be a trolling, douche spouting from the mouth without a constructive justification. It is just as true for the positive side. No one wants to see random, “CHIEFZ ROOL YALL KNOW IT,” posts any more than they want to see, “CHIEFZ R TEH SUXXORZ WAKE UP,” posts.

Really, if people just followed the commandments guidelines that have been posted/referenced ad nauseum regardless of bias, none of this would be necessary.

Since AP has never existed during a good Chiefs year, I would imagine the same amount of meaningless posts on the positive side would be generated. They are equally lacking in contribution.

i so love this post

ive been a silent LJ fan the past 2 years of coming here, yeah my date of registering might show since this past winter, but ive always had AP bookmarked since the whole LJ hold outs.
Im not gonna lie im a huge LJ fan and i wasn’t a chiefs fan until my 6th grade year when montana was traded to us from the 49ers, its been one hell of a ride going from crappy (lolbono) to exciting (xfactor) to what it is now.

I used to be able to watch all games with the nfl package with directv til this year. and watching all the negative comments in the live threads, just makes me turn up 101 the fox and listen to what they have to say about every play. not once have they bashed LJ, Cassel or the poor play calling or the offensive line, they keep the game as how it should be for all fans of our kc chiefs, completely Positive…….. so yeah im a big fan to this post because its the truth, how can we as chiefs fans stay positive with our team if others are gonna do as much as they can to tear that away from us.

Since when did chiefs fans turn into Yankees fans?

Thanks Chris.

I’ve had a hard time coming around the site the last couple weeks, cause I can’t seem to read any of the posts without the negativity people have getting to me. Not a homer by any means, just get frustrated by the panic we seem to get. I sincerely hope this post has the intended result and people find some middle ground somewhere between the homers and the doom and gloom crowd.
