I rushed for 27 yards less than Larry Johnson on Sunday..how's that for perspective?
Let that sink in. If I would have rushed for just 27 more yards on Sunday, I would have tied Larry Johnson. I am so proud of myself. Sunday's game was just proof that we have oh so many holes to fix. My God...so many holes to fix.
Even had we won, it would not have been a victory. We should have been beat worse than the score. You know, I can't keep defending Haley any longer. There's no excuse for his shitty play calling. We had the ball at the 50 in overtime. For real.....so Haley thought this all through while we were at intermission waiting for OT to start.
He said if we get the ball first here's what we're going to do...then when that set of downs failed us and we got the ball back at the 50 fucking yard line...and Haley had a second chance to redeem himself, we couldn't get a play call to get 15 yards to win the game?? Really??. Now what I'm going to say next will really be appreciated by anyone who watched Denver play against the Patriots; Josh McDaniels is a way better coach.
He has Kyle fucking Orton to deal with. So you can tell if you watched his play calling against the Patriots, that he UNDERfuckingSTANDS that he has a mediocre QB and he needs to design quck easy plays that put Orton in a position to win, not fail. I saw Orton step back, with a two step back drop and then release. The play was over in 4 seconds from snap to whistle. But they had first down after first down. Especially in the second half. He designs his play calling around his teams strengths and weaknesses....because they are NOT a powerhouse on offense.
So when Kyle Orton looks better than Cassel you have a fucking problem PERIOD!! Again this game, Cassel could have won the game for us. Cassel was back there behind a MUCH improved line...I never thought that I; the O line basher himself; would say that but it's true. He had plenty of time on plenty of drives. Not that he wasn't rushed a lot, not that he didn't take unnecessary sacks because the line would fail him. But no comparison to the O line that played in Philly. MUCH BETTER!! Seriously, I know some of you are waiting for the punch line after the way I have bashed our O line over and over but I'm not kidding. Our O line wasn't stellar to be certain, but it was way better than anything I"ve seen yet this year.
But the truth is, Cassel is not playing solid QB to say the least. He still looks jittery and confused, not confident and decisive.
And realistically, Bowe is no Brandon Marshall.Their two completely different calibre receivers. Not just on catch ability either. For those who are students of the game, you'll know what I mean for sure. He doesn't have the brain to view the entire field, picking up on scenario's that occur during different plays. He doesn't have the smarts to break off a route when Cassel is scrambling and get open like Moss or Johnson or Marshall or Fitz or Boldin do. Not even close. He's an above average receiver but he's not that special. I've been very let down by his play. He should be smoking records right now. This should be his break out year. But again, he's hot then he's not. He grabs clutch passes and looks solid and then drops a sure fire first down pass in his chest.
Now back to Cassel; well if your drinking the kool aid your going to still be in la la land about him, but reality says different. He is not a stable leader yet. He still makes piss poor decisions. Although, to his favor I will finally concede that it's not as much his O line at this point that's hindering him, it's his receving corp. They do not play smart ball. They get open on 3rd and long no problem, it's just alway 6 yards before the marker and they can't get past the first tackler so that's always worthless.
If I had to point to ONE major issue that WOULD absolutely turn our wins losses ratio around starting IMMEDIATELY, it would be our inability as a TEAM, not as individuals but as a team to be tough. I NEVER see our guys, and I mean any of them, break past the first tackler. I watched Denver, MY GOD MAN, they break through two or three defenders before their gang tackled. Larry Johnson is a pu**y!! He should be benched. Why we keep running him and starting him is beyond comprehension. If Haley is such a "go by what I see" coach, then why not try Savage or Battle??? They can't possibly do worse than 21 carries for 27 yards...that's unreal!!
We have our work cut out for us, but we need to have better designed play calling with fast two step drop quick release passes and more delayed hand offs that are discuised better. I see what Haley's trying to do with our play calling, and it's awesome, just not with this team. We are not talented enough to pull off that fancy play shit. We need to admit that and get back to basics. GO CHIEFS!!
p.s. We will beat Washington Redskins...and I've not predicted a win all season, but I guarantee it...mark that down that I said that...cuz I promise you we are going to kick the Redskins ass for real...that's one team that is very beatable.

Not a fair comparison
You just can’t compare Haley / Cassel with McDaniels / Orton. Denver has a solid offensive line and a ton of quality receiving targets (Marshall, Royal, Gaffney, Stokley, Graham, Scheffler). Of course they’ll look better. If you traded our line, WR, and TE with Denver, suddenly Cassel and Haley would look all world and people would be calling for McDaniels and Ortons heads in Denver.
By the way you want to know how many more TDs Orton has thrown then Cassel? Zero. They both have 7 TDs and Cassel has played one less game. Cassel also has more TDs (even with our line and WRs) then Brady, Rivers, Rodgers, Romo, and Warner.
Can Cassel play better? Yes. Can Haley do a better job calling plays? Yes. Are they the biggest reasons we are 0-5? Not in my opinion.
It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

Taking the words right out of my mouth.
Rec’d, Porkchop.
As much as I hate to say it, Denver’s for real. Ugh…I’m going to go take a shower now.

agreed, they are NOT the BIGGEST reason we're 0-5...
again, I say..it takes a team to lose like that…not one position or player..it’s all the way accross the board…but Aaron rodgers has a horrible line by any standard…it’s worse than ours….Cassels never handled 8 sacks in one game before…
Anyway, I’m not bashing Cassel, but he still DOES NOT look poised and confident is my point. And that’s true. He is jittery and not confident…he is indecisive…. but my comparison to Denver is fair in as much as the play calling.
Josh gives Kyle very quick easy simple plays to run…which plays to his strengths…we should do a better job of designing plays that actually work…we need speed too.
by krayfish on Oct 12, 2009 11:03 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I commented on another thread about the indecision. His big run really seemed to boost his confidence and plays like that will continue to give more confidence until he’s completely sure that this is his team and he doesn’t have to be worried about one mistake costing him his job. I think it comes from being a backup for so long.

Actually you claim not to bash him, but do it in the same sentence.
Anyway, I’m not bashing Cassel, but he still DOES NOT look poised and confident is my point. And that’s true. He is jittery and not confident…he is indecisive
Uhmmm…yes you did bash again…. Here:
But the truth is, Cassel is not playing solid QB to say the least. He still looks jittery and confused, not confident and decisive.
(Really?, so I suppose the TD drive at the end of the game was a fluke?)
and here:
Now back to Cassel; well if your drinking the kool aid your going to still be in la la land about him, but reality says different. He is not a stable leader yet. He still makes piss poor decisions.
BTW…rec’d Porkchop.

I have been quoted...therefore I am...
thank you for letting me know that I am live…I am quoted…I am the “Quoted One”….true enough…..still whoever’s fault it ends up being…Cassel is not confident…I don’t just blame him or bash HIM..but it remains true that you can tune to any channel you want after any game on Sunday and NOONE is bragging about the awesome play of our QB
he IS jittery….rather than just bash Cassel…I think it is a team effort….it is everyone collectively…..and once we begin to get REAL we can fix the REAL problem…no one deserves praise on an 0-5 team….but you may choose of course to choose Cassel as THE QB of the century for our team….I will withhold judgement until I SEE something different…no need to bash..just stating what I see.

Where did I say that? Quote me. -You can’t so therefor you make a rediculous assumption that doesn’t hold water.
My point being is that according to your post(s), you seem to go back and forth in your assessments. I think it’s blatantly obvious as do the posters who’ve rec’d a reply to a post that pretty much surmises that your post is indeed an unfair comparison.

I don't think there's any ONE reason the Chiefs are 0-5
It’s a combination of several things, big and small, that got this team to where they are.
Why is it that it seems like no matter who the coaches or players are in KC, they always seem to not be able to perform? Are our standards as fans too high? I don’t think so, but the question has been nagging me lately. Everyone expects Jackson to be a tackling/sack machine as a 3-4 end. Seriously?
LJ is expected to run for 1500 yards behind this line so many people were talking up… Uh huh, right.
I think the pomp and circumstance got into the common fan’s head, and led them to think this team was much better than they are. How many wins did people ACTUALLY expect this season? They would argue that X amount of games could swing either way, then started believing that they SHOULD win those games.
Expectations have risen higher than they should have. This is a 4-5 win team coming into the season, and they’re playing like a 4-5 win team now. They should by all rights be 2-3, but bad teams find a way to lose, and the Chiefs are a bad team right now. Too much has changed to have any real hope, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
but what do I know because I'm so negative and know nothing about anything...ever...

Agreed...A Bit Simplistic
Orton’s not a terrible QB (although he’s not as good as Cassel, IMO) but Orton and McDaniels inherited a far superior line and receiving corps talent-wise and that makes up for a lot. You could make the argument that Bowe’s better than their best receiver (probably Marshall) but Royal and Stokely are better than anyone else the Chiefs have playing receiver (and yes, I include Bobby Wade in that).

Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

I don't think. .
you are reading what Krayfish is saying right. He’s not saying Denver doesn’t have a better o-line or receivers, he’s saying that McDaniels sets up plays for Orton to succeed. Yes Denver has a better line but Orton isn’t an air it out QB so they run a lot of 2 and 3 step drop plays. Slants, quick outs, and toss up plays for Brandon. I think what Krayfish’s legitimate argument is why can’t Haley call similar plays for Cassel? Our line is not very good, ok, so compensate by throwing dump passes. 3 or 4 yards is better then no yards. And yes our wide outs aren’t getting much separation including Bowe but Cassel hardly ever throws him a jump ball.

Agreed about LJ
He is done. I thought at times Cassel held onto the ball to long on a couple of occassions.
But on these couple of occassions (when the line actually held up), the recievers got absolutely no seperation.
I feel like if he threw the ball away some would be calling him a pussy so it’s lose lose for him. On another note, I’m going to the Chiefs vs. Skins game and believe they will squeak a win out.
It’s the first chiefs game I’ve been to so I’m excited, but that Dallas ending was hard to watch.

B unit...good for!!
It was a fun game to say the least…although I had the doom and gloom feeling the whole game…I knew we’de figure out some way to lose even after the tying TD and getting the ball at the 50…..
I just couldn’t believe we couldn’t hit a couple quick outs

RB may change
when Kolby Smith is eligible to return at the end of the month. LJ looked like he could care less. He was slow and showed no effort. Goes down with a slight touch. Should have had Battle and Charles carrying the load.
Cassle was far from sharp, but he had no running game to help. Dallas pinned their ears back and blitzed most of the game. We have no reliable RB and no WR to provide a deep threat. That moves the defense into the box and they can come after the offense on every play. We are just too out manned at this point.
Kudos to the OL for making adjustments when guys went down. They weren’t playing well, but the play didn’t drop much with the backups in.
Disagree about the play calling. Not that I am thrilled with what Haley calls, but we don’t have Brandon Marshall or Eddie Royal as WR’s. We have a bunch of 2’s and 3’s who don’t have much talent. Bowe is a big possession receiver. He is slow and not a deep threat at all. An upgrade in talent is required to help with better play calling. We don’t have plays for no talent.
I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

We did last year.
We don’t have plays for no talent.
Offense was much better at the end of last year, than right now. Lack of TG is obviously a factor, but everywhere else is about the same or slightly better. Time to change the scheme if we want to win games, or we can continue to “practice” this offense for next year.

Here's what nags at me right now
Why trade away TOny G (which the defense was that “Haley doesn’t use TE’s that much”), then stockpile TE’s like it’s going out of style? Wasting roster spots
but what do I know because I'm so negative and know nothing about anything...ever...

tks NJ chiefs fan...that sums up what I was trying to say
if this scheme is getting us 0-11 first downs in Philly and an 0-5 record we should adapt it to our talent level…that’s what I was saying…
I think our play calling is killing Cassel, he looks jittery because he is…he knows how the plays are going to end 99 % of the time…with him in a daze looking up at the stars

that was my thought about LJ
I watched on Saturday the 05 game against the Cowboys. Now yes our line was awesome back then, but LJ also looked like he wanted to play.
Then I watch yesterday’s game and its like hes going through the motions but there is no desire anymore.
Too bad they didnt heed UC’s advice…

Lots of folks called it...
Larry charmed his way into Pioli and Haley keeping him this year!!! What a waste of money (9+ million for this year, right?)!!! If It were up to me I would cut Larry the day Kolby Smith was available. At least then we would have running backs on the roster that REALLY WANT TO PLAY!!!! Any one of the four reserve backs we have at least occasionally would make a player miss or break a tackle (and get 27 yards on 21 attempts!) Larry hasn’t done much of anything this entire year except BREATH IN EXPENSIVE AIR!!! Shoot, a good strong WIFF by a defensive player will bring Larry down this year! The only thing he has done well this year is hold onto the ball. The thing that really ofended me this last game was Larry became the “Rushing attempts leader” ahead of Priest Holmes. He recieved this honor running up to the line, stopping, leaning forward on the pile, and falling for a 1/2 yard or so gain. It’s no wonder I am fed up watchin the guy! (Fully vented and feeling better now, thanks!)
If you don't recount the problems and issues of the past you are doomed to repeat them!!!!!!!

I'd like to
give credit where credit is due, but I still haven’t found which game that krayfish gained those 10 yards yesterday. Thought he might actually be Jamaal Charles but he only gained 9 yards & 9 from 37 is only 28 not 27! Don’t sell LJ short as he actually gained 37 yards so maybe kray just assumes that he could have gained 10 yards behind our line yesterday!
j/k :)
I know it was an honest mistake = 37 rather than 27!
PS. I could have looked around & kept that FG from being blocked!

I think we will be very competitive though, if you expect anything more out of a team that went 2-14 last year, and completely re-tooled then your expectations are too high, I think our first win will come against San Diego, I think we will beat the Raiders, and maybe Buffalo or the Bangles.

Welcome to a fansite.
If you don’t want to read them, you don’t have to. That’s the luxury of the internet…you can choose what and when you want to read a given topic. And if you’re going to comment, try to make it constructive and on topic.
Complaining about others and the quality/frequency of their fanposts does nothing but raise tensions around here. They’re already high enough.
So chillax, watch the personal attacks, and if you feel you can do better, attempt to do so. It’ll make things easier on you and the moderators around here.

High Tension
And I suspect that will continue throughout the season as the team struggles. It’s understandable…hell, I’m on edge a lot more because I’m tired of watching the team suck. But it’s important for us not to turn on each other here and drag the level of discussion down. This season will eventually end, but we’d like AP to continue as it has…contentious opinions and all. :)

If You've Got A Problem With Something He Writes
Then either rebut the specific points he makes or just ignore the article. But don’t go attacking him.
It’s not a matter of me being offended…we have a level of discussion on this site we try to maintain that’s higher than what you’ll see on other blogs or on ESPN or the Star. We let everyone post comments here and we’ve done very well in building the site off that model. But we boot people quite a lot when they can’t stay off the personal attacks so we don’t turn into ESPN or the Star. That’s why we post Community Rules and have moderators…to get rid of people who don’t want to play along with the community we’ve built.
As for your remarks, you’re new here and slip-ups happen and that’s why you just got a warning. I think if you give the site a chance and stay away from targeting individuals then you’ll find it a rich and rewarding place to discuss the Chiefs. But that also involves letting people with opinions that may be completely different than your own have a say and considering their positions. That’s why we try to stick with just rebutting specific points and not the fanhood of other posters.

Appreciated
Like I said, it happens…and as long as you stick to the rules we’re happy to have you on board and hear what you have to say (whether we agree with it or not). :) No harm done.

darwithabar...it's ok ...I was there before you
I have had online public warnings and private to my email warnings…I took awhile to get it…it’s no different here than any professional sports site…ESPN or NFL NETWORK…they go on every week commenting about each teams plays and scores and highlights…every week over and over..
we post on here about the Chiefs because their our team…and yes…we repeat a lot…but we don’t come here to discuss anything but one topic so it’s hard not to have some repeat feelings expressed from time to time…
I feel the same way about some other people’s posts on here as you do about mine…but I have learned that they need someone to vent to just like I do and i have developed a LOT more patience with my friends on AP here (with a little loving HELP from the moderators a few times lol)
I understand your angst and if I was here for you to give you someone to vent your frustration out on…then at least you were leaving some other poor soul alone…
You wouldn’t be the last person on here that I hit heads with initially only to become pretty good friends with off of this site…

It happens…we didn’t boot you for it, just a warning (which a lot of people get). Just wanted to clear it up before it became a problem.

But, darwithabar, if you hit the reply button underneath the remark you’re responding to, you’ll find that a new window will open up underneath that remark that will allow you to reply to that comment directly. You should type your comment in there…helps with the discussion.

Took Me A Bit Too
It was actually a very unique function on websites when I first got here…now I’ve noticed more webpages going to this format with their replies because they’re realizing the advantages.

Someday we might even get an edit/delete function!

Not In This Lifetime
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :)
Seriously, though, I don’t even have an edit function for remarks…just delete. But yes, it is annoying when you make a typo or grammatical error that changes what you were saying and you can’t go back and get rid of it. Unfortunately I’ve got no control over that…just had to learn to work around it.

Yep, I’ve learned to read and reread comments before posting. When the discussion gets heated, though, it’s tough to wait before hitting “Post.”

Yeah, Same Here
On that general tangent…my apologies for how I handled the ban on you awhile ago. You made a comment that was out of line, but I definitely overreacted.

I apologize as well. I was frustrated, as has been the case for the last two seasons, and let it get out of hand. Also one of the reasons I make sure to reread everything at least once.

On the playcalling in OT
I wouldnt blame Haley all on that one. We started to move the ball and then Wade Smith made a bone head play and moved us back ten yards on a holding call. I dont agree with the run right after that though. Cassel moved the ball when he had too. Im sorry Kray but just like every time you mention Cassel in your post Im gonna have to agree to disagree

I know TT..and that's good..it's brings me back down to reality...
plus didn’t you guys shit yourselves when Wade dropped that slant pass…he was gone for 7 if he held on…what a dits
by krayfish on Oct 12, 2009 11:48 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yep I wasnt happy
Wade Smith is what killed me though b.c I honestly think without that penalty we move down the field and Succop hits the game winner.
