We still won this game

In the record books, we lost, but you all know we won. Not because we should have or did that we beat the other team, but we won a little bit of our dignity back. We played as a better team, we got beat up a little and still kept playing. Let's face it Dallas is a better team, and we got a few lucky breaks in the beginning, but after that it was all the Chiefs we kept playing .Cassell played his best game as a Chief, and honestly this is probably the best Chiefs game I have seen in well over two years. If you don't think the team got a whole lot better today your blind. My heart was racing, I was on the edge of my seat, this game was awesome, cause we kept playing, so all you haters that said fire Haley, need to shut up, as far as the haters saying trade LJ well I might be seeing your way now. Honestly guys, if we play like that I won't have any problem with the Chiefs, I feel like our D was really on today, our line looked crappy Cassell got hit too much, and we don't have many weapons, but Cassell our leader today became a leader. I truly believe he is our guy, and if we can just get him some more help we will win many games.

STFU you hater

No reason for that language or approach.

You’re certainly entitled to post this, but there needs to be a level of decency

by Matt Conner on Oct 11, 2009 3:55 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dude look at his post history

it’s all negative towards the Chiefs

by saveushaley on Oct 11, 2009 3:57 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have to agree, nothing close to insightful has come out from the guys posts other than insulting negative posts...

I can understand being angry at the loss, but he keeps posting the same negative dribble over and over again.

by worc on Oct 11, 2009 4:15 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

say what you want

but open your eyes…my posts after the game were all about how we let Austin get 250 yards receiving true, but there are no moral victories for this team anymore.

Telling yourself week after week that we did better, or won mentally, or whatever you come up with to help yourself sleep at night doesn’t change the fact that we have won 2 out of our last 30 games. The cowboys and the raiders tried to give us these games and we still can’t come up with the W.

So call me a negative nany or whatever you want but I cannot stand to watch my team lose and perform like crap and people say its “OK:”

by KCCheeze on Oct 11, 2009 4:59 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree with you cheeze..

I don’t understand why someone speaks their mind or gives a “negative opinion” they get jumped all over. You’d have to be blind to see the only reason we were in this game is because Dallas was playing poorly at the beginning. Our offense still looks horrible and finally towards the end of every game, once the coverage loosens up, we get to rack up some yardage and score a few points. I love this team, but at this point I don’t see how anyone can see much improvement. Saying they’re horrible doesn’t make you a hater—it’s just the truth.

by loyalchfsfan35 on Oct 11, 2009 5:36 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah

i know i may look at the negatives…but at this point its all there is to look at. Looking at the positives only goes so far and can only last so long. I hate to see them lose and hate even more that they execute poorly. I love this team but damn they are a train wreck.

Big Cheese

I’m with you in that this team is not getting better.501 yards of dallas offense & people are saying I can see them getting better?350 in the air & 150 on the ground, great “D”.With a horrendous o-line Cassel is playing hard & smart.Remember he’s running the plays that are called for him.Hmmmm sounds an awful lot like last year.“O” getting a little better & “D” stinks up the joint.Wow what a turn around by Pioli & Haley. Thanks guys.

+1 fuck the haters!

Chiefs did all they humanly possibly could. Front 7 was awesome secondary was shit. Chiefs have better outcome awaiting them this season

by reedeasy on Oct 11, 2009 3:55 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

its true though, this is about the future, and this team is getting better....people must look at that 1-15 cowboys team, the 2006 titans then 2007 following year results

This team at least has a stud QB that can get knocked down 20 times and still throw 2 tds no picks no fumbles….he has that clutch gene, its just in OT, without ANY run game, they sat on us, and dominated us. since who needs 8 in the box when they cant get a 5 yard run

by SDChief on Oct 11, 2009 4:01 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Take the rose colored glasses off

6-10, 2-14, 0-5 and counting. “You are what your record says you are”
I rest my case

by Wildcat2180 on Oct 11, 2009 8:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

As for this post...

It’s a mentality like this that says “we still won the game” that keeps teams like Raiders, Browns and others out of the playoffs year after year. You are what your record says you are. And we’re an 0-5 team.

by Matt Conner on Oct 11, 2009 3:56 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

You are blind if you think we didn't improve

I hear you losses suck we lost, but we came back and scored on them in the last minute of the fourth last years team would have gave up, hell last weeks team would have crumbled went to OT and that’s when we F-ed up and got too conservative.

by saveushaley on Oct 11, 2009 4:00 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chiefs lost, Leggett and Brown

Cant tackle or cover… Pollard would make those tackles at least instead of giving up a HUGE td like that… and Leggett shoulve learned after the first 59 yd TD to wrap up instead of going for the ball all the time… Still love them Chiefs tho, even tho it ruins my whole week

by Pollard49 on Oct 11, 2009 4:00 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

It is a work in progress, just want some spirits lifted around here, they play hard and always come up short… Tired of saying “So close.” These players need a win and some confidence. And im really tired of Chiefs fans being so wishy washy, be a fan or dont be… lol damnit

by Pollard49 on Oct 11, 2009 4:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree

if we keep settling for moral victories then we will never be a good team ever again. At the end of the day, these guys need to find ways to get wins, it’s the only thing that matters. Saying “so close” every week is so demoralizing.

Bowe and Wade FTW.

Exactly many of you "fans"

need to realize Dallas is ranked number 4 in offense. Number fucking 4 and we almost beat their ass, until we got conservative

by saveushaley on Oct 11, 2009 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

let's not go down this road

one fan cannot call someone else a “fan” according to whether they’re positive or negative about the team, especially when we’re 0-5. its something that seems to pop up every week on this site, homers vs “fans” – can we just let it lie for a while?

by thehulk on Oct 11, 2009 4:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

no, I really think we did not "win" this game

we showed some progress in a couple areas, I guess, and I was actually surprised at how “well” our o-line played w/ the backups in (or is that just a reflection of how piss-poor the starters are?), and we did pretty well against the run again. the drive to tie it was freakin sweet.

But, we + in turnovers, benefited from multiple dallas penalties, had the ball at the 50 in overtime and couldn’t do anything with it, and we ended up losing. We have another big fat L, and are 0-5. We do NOT come away with this with a win.

Can we still be fans and see glimmers of hope? Sure.
Do we think this team is moving in the right direction? I do.
Did we win this game? no way.

I wonder how many more single-back 0-2 yard runs I’m going to see until our head coach and play-caller realizes that our team CANNOT run the ball with LJ out of that formation.

This game presents a number of moral victories

The loss was a team effort. I can see that they’re still figuring things out but there were some serious positives.

It’s still a bitter loss

At this point, I'm done with moral victories...

However, I’m just going to keep watching and supporting until the win comes. Win or lose, I have patience in them.

by worc on Oct 11, 2009 4:17 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i feel you

but I don’t know if we’ve really had too many moral victories up to this point. It’s been pretty brutal.

True

I still feel like each week theres a silver lining here and there. Then the obligatory “improvement” post. I’m not arguing those to be true or not. I just feel we shouldn’t get too comfortable with moral victories anymore. It is now time for that next step to WIN. :] But we’ll see.

since we are retooling

from top to bottom because of becoming a bad team yes I do find moral victories in the shape of things to come

I am a huge fan, but...

There’s no way you can say we “won” this game. Dallas tried to give us the game in the first half, and we only came away with 10 points and just over a hundred yards of offense in that first half. Our defense gave up almost 500 yards of offense to Dallas, which is in no way an improvement. Our running game has not improved at all, mostly due to poor offensive line play. Speaking of offensive line, they still can’t pass block, either, as Cassel was hit way too many times. Cassel still is having some accuracy problems as well, though I thought his overall play was an improvement, and finally started hitting Bowe in the second half. The score was close, but the statistics tell a different story. I still think the Chiefs will get their act together this season and start showing some real improvement, but I would not put this game in that category. Would be nice if people stop labeling others as “haters” and such, everyone has their opinion, and the name calling is pretty childish.

Hey, at least our punter is pretty good, so we got that goin for us, right?

by big_Scott on Oct 11, 2009 4:21 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Holding the number 4 offense

to under 20 points before OT is pretty impressive considering only Dallas has done better and they are a highly ranked D. I call people haters not when they talk bad on the Chiefs, it’s when they give the Chiefs no credit, and only being fans when they dominate. A lot of you think Haley inherited the 2003 Chiefs when we wen’t 13-3 and had the number 2 offense. We were 2-14 last year we sucked and we had a pretty easy schedule this year the schedule is much harder, we are going to suck. Right now im looking at improvement because I dont think we are going to win, but today I was shocked that we got damn close.

by saveushaley on Oct 11, 2009 4:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually

The Cowboys had exactly 20 points at the end of regulation, so the Chiefs did not hold them to under 20. Like I said in my earlier comments, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think you take a big risk by saying we “won” a game where we were dominated on both sides of the ball, and even though we won the turn over battle, still lost by a touchdown. That should not happen. Think of what the score could have been if Dallas doesn’t lose those two fumbles in the first half, and didn’t commit so many penalties to help the Chiefs in so many situations. Don’t get me wrong, I still think there were some positives for the Chiefs from this game, but we didn’t win the game by any means. The score and the statistics tell a different story. You might have been able to use the argument that we “won” the game when we lost to the Raiders after thoroughly dominating them, but coming up short on the scoreboard, but that argument does not hold water, in my opinion, in the case of this game. The thing that most bothers me is the continuation of the same problem as last year under Herm, the Chiefs fold after the half. Look at how Dallas was able to score 17 unanswered points before Bowe getting his touchdown grab. I am also concerned with the poor play of our secondary, which seems to be getting worse, not better. I like the play of our D-line today, though. They still need to get better. Dallas was held to under 50 yards rushing in the first half, and still ended up getting something like 150 yards rushing as the reeled off some long runs in the second half. Not a win by a long shot, and like I said, other than the score being close, the game really wasn’t.

Hey, at least our punter is pretty good, so we got that goin for us, right?

by big_Scott on Oct 11, 2009 4:47 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

and in a very real sense, Dallas held themselves to 20 pts in regulation ...

with the 2 lost fumbles … think about it, after the 1st fumble we had a 3-0 lead and maybe 6 yrds offense, that’s not KC doing great, that’s Dallas shooting themselves in the foot … very reminiscent of the opener @ Baltimore where some plays that should never have happened kept us in the game when we were outplayed

the stats don’t lie, nor does the scoreboard … we got beat and we lost … so it goes

we lost simple as that

we still are absolutely horrible. The Chiefs find ways to lose rather than ways to win

by Ren on Oct 11, 2009 4:55 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

improvement? yes ... some really ugly stuff still? oh, yes!

first off I’d like to ask saveushaley to NOT ask others to “shut up” or whatever … thank you so very much!

now then, the actual game …

kudos for not lying down at the end (of regulation) – they kept playing hard, hit a few good passes, that was awesome!

sadly the running game is nonexistant – LJ was horrible bordering on atrocious (at one point he had 15 rushes for 14 yards, and his end-of-game stats are ridiculous)

OL is as big of a mess as ever, just hope injuries aren’t too bad – Goff went back out but the big one was Albert … Leggett got burned over and over, in fact the Cowboys had over 500 yds in the game (including OT) and the only thing that kept us in it so long was 2 early fumbles lost by Dallas and a myriad of penalties … the offense, aside from the last drive, was NOT good, and Cassel is going to get killed sooner rather than later if they can’t find a way to run the football … defense is good TO A POINT but the soft zone is a killer in the end, as the Romo-Austin connection proved several times) … special teams were a bit of a letdown, esp the blocked kick in 4th Qtr (major kudos as always to Colquitt who is rapidly shaping up as the Chiefs Play of the Year)

final note to saveushaley: hate to tell you this but the Chiefs did NOT win the game … simple as that … just as they did NOT win @ Balt and did NOT win @ Phil or vs NYG or vs Oakland … maybe next week, the Skins game

so true

if for nothing else but a safety net. in the time the ball was thrown, catch made, tackle broken, and Austin turned up field, Brown STILL couldn’t get from the center of the field to the sideline to make the backup tackle.

I loss is a loss is a loss

In professional sports there can be no moral victories. We’re not in high school. It hurts to watch the chiefs lose when the other team basically brought their c- game. A ton of penalties and several unforced turnovers still couldn’t help us win this game. Although, There were a few things I really liked. I saw them lineup Mcgraw as a Linebacker/nickel back in some passing downs, thought that was a good idea given the issues we’ve had with coverage from our lb’s. At least it looks like their trying to fix issues

by callmesir on Oct 11, 2009 5:12 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Damn!

how big that blocked field goal was….ugh

AND that fumble we should have had that the refs took away.

We leat the league in 1 category at least…..Most apology letters from NFL officials.

stop blaming the refs ... look at all the penalties Dallas racked up

we simply are not that good

by upamtn on Oct 11, 2009 5:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i'm not blaming the refs for our losses

we are horrible plain and simple. Just saying I think we get more bogus calls than i have seen a single team get in 1 season.

by KCCheeze on Oct 11, 2009 6:29 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

This post is sad

Guys we did not win! There was no moral victory, no three quarters victory, no “hey we didn’t give up” victory. We lost PERIOD. We have now lost 28 of the last 30 games in a league built for parity and designed to give losers all the advantages (draft picks, schedule, waiver-wire preference) and we still can’t win. That is astoundingly, shockingly, retardedly bad football. Three years now being in the bottom third of the league, just plain awful.
