Chiefs Work Out Three Defensive Tackles
The Kansas City Chiefs worked out three defensive tackles according to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post.
The players are William Joseph, Tim Anderson and Marlon Favorite.
Imagine this: If Favorite is signed (no indication that he will be), the Chiefs could send out an all LSU defensive line. Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey on the ends and Favorite in the middle. Crazy, huh?
We're not quite sure if this means Todd Haley is unhappy with the nose tackle position. It appears that he's at least willing to search for an upgrade, or maybe just depth to supplement the current tackles Tank Tyler and Ron Edwards. I've previously given my support to Tyler who appears to have the tools to win the job.
But, Edwards is currently the No. 1 nose tackle on the depth chart. He claimed that following the Philadelphia Eagles game.
Here's some information on the players that were in for a workout:
Joseph was a 2003 first round pick by the New York Giants. He spent five years there before spending the majority of 2008 with the Oakland Raiders. If you'll recall, he was the player released when the Raiders acquired Richard Seymour. Then, when Seymour didn't initially show up, he was re-signed, only to be released three days later when Seymour finally arrived.
He's listed at 6'5", 315 pounds. He spent a brief part of his time at the University of Miami as a defensive end before settling in at tackle.
Anderson was a 2004 third round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills out of Ohio State. He started a handful of games in his second year before being released in the middle of the 2007 season. He spent the remaining part of that season and the following year with the Atlanta Falcons. The Cowboys signed him in January of this year before cutting him in training camp.
He's listed at 6'4", 315 pounds.
Favorite is a defensive tackle coming from LSU. He spent time on the St. Louis Rams practice squad after going undrafted. He's listed at 6'1", 317 pounds. He is a 23 year old rookie.

So what happened with Tank Tyler?
He was the starter vs. Oakland and led the team with 7 tackles and then they turn around and make Edwards the starter the very next game.
What does a guy have to do?
I think he had 7 tackles in game two as well
Not sure what the deal is.

not all about
tackles obviously, could be a lot of different reasons maybe he didnt know his assignments on the field or was not getting enough penetration, i actually hope we draft DT with out top 10 possibly top 5 pick next year

you actually want us to draft DL top 5 three years in a row?
plus i guess you mean NT and i’m not sure there’s a nose worth that kinda pick this year; maybe i’m wrong on that though
Maybe a step towards more of the 3-4 Under
There has to be a reason we aren’t showing it more
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

I don't think they have any plans on playing a 3-4 Under
They have all the guys they need for it now. Dorsey, Tyler, Edwards are all more than capable of playing DT in a four man front. They’ve been doing it the last several years.
So is Magee not getting it down as the DE
or Hali is performing better than expected.
Heaven knows we have enough D-snaps to show it more.
The 2-5 is getting plenty of snaps
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

Wow. You have to wonder what this means for the future.
There are only about 4 true 3-4 Nose Tackles available in the next draft and only Terrance Cody rates in the top 3 rounds. I was really hoping Tank Tyler would step up.
terrance cody sucks trust me ... i watched him all game today and he
only play a couple snaps a series. and im watching spikes middle line backer from florida holy crap that guy is putting on a clinic and looks like a real leader out there
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
I agree about Cody, I guess my point is...
if there aren’t any good / decent NT in the draft next year, we could be in a world of hurt since our current NT’s apparently aren’t getting the job done.

Chet McGlocklin...
…even when all the did was in the hole he made Eric Hicks ten times better—see Hicks post Chet.
have to agree with you on that . we do need a nose tackle it would totally change our
defense if we had a good one. our line backers would actually be able to be untouched when the blitz . and we could hopefully stop the run a little better. i just watched cody and was not impressed at all . He just doesnt have awarness of where the football is . And like i said before he does get decent penetration and does require two men to block him but he didnt play much me pretty much took 2 downs off ever other series . spikes from florida lock it up.
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
and another thing tebow will never mark my words never
be good in the nfl no way no how . the guy is a joke he dont throw and im shocked lsu hasnt stacked the box on him and make him throw the ball.

The sad part
Only Big Baby and Boo project as true NT material

Tank Tyler is ranked #2 in tackles among D-Linemen in the NFL
Why In the HELL is he on the bench??? None of this makes a damn bit of sense.
This shit is EXACTLY why I have jumped off the Haleywagon. WTF!!!!
The 1st and 2nd string NT are interchangeable
Tank ain’t sitting on a bench obviously since he is making tackles
DJ ain’t sitting on a bench either he will play Sunday.
Copper ain’t sitting on the bench either
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

Do we know how many plays Edwards has vs Tyler
I imagine it is about even. Do we care if Bradley is the starter or Wade?
No because either one will get the job done in the situation required!

If it didn't matter, why would they change who started?
The starter will be the guy out there at the beginning of every drive. The backup will come in to give the starter a breather on longer drives. Maybe 4 or 5 plays, then the starter goes back in.
I don’t know where you would find the stats, but by my math the starter should be getting at least 2/3 more snaps than the backup.
Maybe Edwards is consistent longer
Maybe Tyler is dominent shorter. Maybe the coaches know this.
Maybe The coaches are looking for someone to pair with Tyler to keep up the dominence at NT longer?

Correct he is playing
Or he wouldn’t have tackles but even manning comes out of games when the game is out of reach . Why leave tank in a game when we’re Getting blown out and we’ve given up even trying to win

d-line rotation??
they are all playing in a rotation and situation specific scenarios.you dont want your dline playing 90 snaps a game thats how you give up a 30 yard pass late in the fourth fucking quater to lose the damn game after you held the damn qb 6-23 for 69 damn yards for 58.5 minutes. who wants to see that ?
One positive+
aspect from this NT drama is that we get much better at NT. I love the fact that two are better than one. If there is competition, they will certainly compliment each other’s drive to be better performers on Sunday.
I’ll say one thing about what I want to start seeing though. I want to view some bloodshed from these two guys. I want these two reek havoc on these opposing offenses we face every week.
We want our KC-Strip back! Bring it back for Derrick. Make him proud…
Prediction: Tamba gets 10 sacks this year.
maybe a trade
could a trade be in the mix for tank or edwards? the deadline is coming up…tank has put up some good numbers so maybe they think they can get something pretty good for him. not sure why u would trade someone that seems to be producing in a key position that is hard to come by but who knows. maybe even dorsey is goes. fire sale anyone?

Wow
Todd De Tard is making another of his savant moves. We all need to stand back and marvel some more at the Rain Man like sensibility he brings to the job .
Maybe we can get Tom Cruise to come dance with him….
