IF You Could Choose...
One current college QB to pilot the Chiefs, which of these would it be?
I would take almost anyone over our current quarterback situation.
Anyone who is still 'sold' on Thigpen is most likely clinically insane.
Sure, he put up some respectable numbers for a third-string quarterback, and I applaud him for that, but I don't think he would put up the same numbers in a more conventional style of play. I am as guilty as anybody else at believing in the 'Coastal Carolina Kid' whom I once called "The next Tony Romo", but I think everyone knows that he is not our future.

I'm not sold on Thigpen
But he definitely deserves a chance to start next year. And frankly. I think he has just a good a shot as anyone to be the starter.

yeah. I have a strong feeling Stafford is gonna drop and we’re gonna use our second rounder and more to trade into the late first and get him. Browns style.

I'm not sure Stafford is worth losing one or more picks
We could get Sanchez in Round 2 without trading any picks away

He may deserve a chance to start
But we HAVE to give him competition.
Giving the job to a relatively unproven starter? Yeah, been there, done that.

Sanchez.
He is said to be deeper in the playbook than Palmer was at USC. And until this season Palmer was a top 3/5 QB IMO.

At this point
I’m really intrigued by any USC QB.

McCoy
I just think the guy is the all-around best, the total package.

he looks pretty good. I instantlly disliked him when everyone started to say how JACKED he is. He looks average build to me, if not undersized

jacked?
Hes not a little guy but I would never call him jacked.

If you saw him as RS Freshman
you would understand what he is talking about. The guy has probably put on 20 to 30 pounds, and would definitely be my favourite choice if he came out this year, which he is not. However, being the longhorn fan that I am, this opinion is incredibly biased.
….Still better than Bradford though!

if your look at this year
colt mccoy wont be an option. he already said he is returing to school. sam bradford doesnt really play under center and isnt proven with all the weapons around him. i like tim tebow because of his passion and how he can motivate his team. sanchez is a good option since usc has a good track record with QB’s (palmer, cassel, and sanchez?) graham harrel i think will be overlooked in the draft, but will be a good QB in the pros

Oh, come on...
we all know we shouldn’t even worry about drafting a QB, and just sign Jeff George.
Seriously, though, I’d have to say I’m most interested in Sanchez.
Oh, and I just had to add – Thigpen did pretty damn well this year, considering we had to change the offense both to make him more comfortable and to save him from being murdered by pass rushers waltzing in through the O-line’s revolving door. Yeah, he needs a fairly high amount of work (Gonzalez is not the only receiver, especially when he’s triple-covered!), but he’s earned a chance to compete in training camp/preseason next year.

After watchng the game...
I would NOT choose Bradford.
Does he EVER read a DEF and call his own play?
He spent more time looking to the sidelines waiting on coaches to read the D and send him in the audible than he did actually playing QB.
He’s not NFL ready, not even close. — Go back to college Bradford. You need another year.

I couldn't disagree more
THAT’S thier offense. They go to the line, try to draw them offside, read thier D, and then decide which of 3 plays that were previously called that they want to run. Its what they did all season.
The whole game came down to a perfectly thrown pass by Bradford that Iglesias dropped and was picked by FLA. At the time, they were down by 3 and driving…the media won’t say it, but Bradford still looked like the better pro QB. Tebow’s 1st INT is a perfect example of why he’s not an NFL QB. Thats a pass that should be rocketed to his WR on an out…he simply didn’t have the armstrength, and OKie’s questionable secondary easily picked it off.
I’m not going to act like it was a great performance by Bradford…but I’m almost hopeful…hopeful that it was just enough to get Stafford drafted #1 and leave Bradford for us at #3!

+1
I’m with ya. He could be the future of this franchise. And honestly, who was the last QB that we really thought had Pro Bowl potential? And don’t say Green, because half the time I was surprised he was named to the Pro Bowl.(* Roaf should get half the credit for that because Green NEVER got touched anyway).

the whole game
came down to 2 missed scoring chances inside the 20, one of them inside the 5 by OU, and another missed scoring chance on the blocked field goal. AND piss poor clock management at the end of the game
.
Down by 3 with 4 minutes left. Your opponent is driving inside the 20 for a score.
If you stop them after 3 runs to nowhere and they kick the field goal you have under 2 minutes for a winning drive.
If they get past your defense and score the TD you are 2 scores back with under 3 minutes on the clock.
You have 2 time outs.
They should have been calling their time outs to save the clock so they would have a little time left no matter what happened.
The game should never have come down to that play anyway. — They had plenty of scoring chances, and managed to never capitalize off a turnover.
THAT’S thier offense. They go to the line, try to draw them offside, read thier D, and then decide which of 3 plays that were previously called that they want to run. Its what they did all season
.
That would be fine. IF it were Bradford reading the D and calling the audible.
It’s not. It’s the coaches on the sideline doing it for him, and spoon feeding him the decision.
You have to be able to read a D to play in the pros. You can’t stand around staring at teh sidelines waiting for the coach to read it for you. — He needs another year. He’s just not ready yet. His own coaches don’t even trust him to read the D and call his own audible.

Bradford may have coaches help with reading defenses but, he is one of the most accurate QB 's I've seen!
by dklogue1 on Jan 9, 2009 5:57 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
which is
exactly why he needs to return to college for another year or 2.
They run a “Peyton Manning-eisque” style off.
Call 3 plays, send the team to the line.
Let the QB read the D, and pick the best play.
Only they skip the last step. Instead, the QB steps up to the line and does not have the confidence? or the ability? or the trust? of his coaches to read the D and choose 1 2 or 3 from a predetermined list of plays. He’s not ready for the NFL yet.
He might be the best QB ever to play the game 2 or 3 years from now, but not at the moment.
The Chiefs have one of the worst D’s in football. They need serious help at every level of the D and along the O line. They could use a RB to replace problem child. They don’t need a #3 overall $35,000,000.00 clipboard holder. Which is what Bradford is TODAY.
IMHO what the Chiefs need is to build the O-Line and the D to respectable. Save your #3 overall pick for an immediate impact player or trade it down. Get yourself a “potential” guy at QB in a later round (several names come to mind from posts on this website).
While you’re at it — pick up a QB in FA; either a ready to play starter or a quality back up and let them compete with Thigpen.

I have to believe that if we draft a QB at #3 he’ll be the starter come Week One.
by PVChiefsfan on Jan 9, 2009 3:10 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
That's my whole point
Bradford is NOT ready to start. Not even close.
If we put him in as a starter he would be a $35,000,000.00 tackling dummy that can’t read a defense (given out O line).
Therefore: we wouldn’t be able to start him yet. He’d have to hold a clipboard.
Our 3rd round pick is far too valuable to waste when we have so many holes on the defense, and at least 2 holes on the offensive line. QB is a bad choise for the #3 pick and Bradford is a bad choise that wont be ready to play for a year at least.
He may become the best QB ever to play in the NFL (I doubt it, but I don’t claim to be psychic). Even if does, he’s not ready for the NFL yet and the Chiefs have too many immediate needs to pay him big bucks to ride the bench.

Sanchez
I like his size and toughness and skill set and USC is a pro team.
by FrankPitts on Jan 9, 2009 2:33 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I HATE USC
Living in LA, and working downtown about two miles from the campus, I have to deal with USC spoiled trust-fund douchebaggery on a fairly regular basis.
But Sanchez is far and away the most pro-style of the QBs in the NCAA right now. He has the arm stength, understands the game and can read the D, and seems to have the poise necessary for the next level. Thanks to Leinart, his draft stock might be undervalued. If we can grab him in the second round, I’ll be ecstatic. (assuming he declares at least). And I really hope we get Pioli, cuz homey knows how to spot talent at the QB position. I’ll trust any QB he picks.

Are the UCLA kids more down to earth?
