Rumor: Pioli Deal Offer 6 years/$40 million
Word around the interwebs is that 610 Sports has announced that the Chiefs have offered Scott Pioli a 6 year/$40 million deal. One caveat is that Herm has to be fired before the Super Bowl. This is very hazy right now so take it with a grain of salt.
Make sense to you? It doesn't make much sense to me. Not the money so much as the deal with Herm. Why not just fire the guy now?
This one is a big time rumor for the time being. Not saying it's not necessarily true. Just that it's a bit out there right now.

Fire him yesterday, get the man in here!!!!
He has major construction project to take on!
Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?

That's a TON of money
I would imagine that would easily make him the highest paid front office guy in the game.
Wow…that’s just a ton.

Everyone is worried about keeping their jobs so are keeping their mouths shut and not letting anything out.

That is not going to
Stop the biggest hire in Chiefs history, or save their jobs.

Not going to stop it
But if they think they will be swept up in the house cleaning and lose their job because they are leaking info they will keep their mouths shut, which is exactly whats happening.

Yep
I’m wondering that too.
If you want my opinion, their source is full of it and wants to put out a huge number like that to keep change the public perception of Pioli so that he’s not hired and said source can keep their job with the Chiefs.

Is 610 trying to go out on a limb each day and not learn from falling off?
More importantly, are they going to try to verify something?

why
why arent the big sports newscasts talking about any of this. You would think this is big NFL news. Or at least AMAZING news for us faithful chiefs.

It's a rumor
That’s the luxury we have on this site. We label things as rumors and facts as facts. Newspapers or bigger outlets can’t jump on every rumor like we can.

unless they're in Cleveland
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Rumor Mill
This is the K.C. Chiefs version of Ain’t It Cool News so they can post rumors on here whenever they hear it as long as it is posted as a rumor.
I like this rumor. If anywhere near the truth then it shows that Clark is not playing around and is setting this team and this city up for greatness. Pioli would be foolish not to jump at this opportunity. $40 million is worth it to bring back some glroy and pride to our great city. We all deserve it, the players on the team deserve it and Clark deserves it to prove to his father (rest in peace) that he learned well from him but he is also doing it his way. Let’s hope something comes out soon to prove this true.

The other reason this rumor seems pretty sketchy
Is not only did they leak it to 610, but its to ‘Corey Anderson’ again, I don’t listen to this station, but if it was Twibell who actually worked the Chiefs preseason games or even Neal Jones the drivetime guy…just would be more plausable.
I also found it interesting that when I heard it on 610, they made it really clear that it was ‘Corey Anderson’ is reporting, “blah, blah” almost like the station as a whole isn’t trying to own it…
Anyway, this is just my speculation, it could very well be accurate, we’ll see. If it is, kudos to Clark for opening the purse and proving his commitment to winning. Also if its true, there is no way that compensation is still a sticking point, thats an insane contract.
And to be fair, if it is true, you have to give props to 610 for breaking a story no one else has, and one that has been locked down very tight…we should know soon.

Am I wrong but was it not 610 radio that said Marty was seen at the airport in KC. At the same time he was in another town I believe it was New York. So anything I hear reported from the flunky’s on 610 I take as a grain of salt.
