After at least a week of unending anxiety over the Chiefs' GM search, I'm finally ready to settle down for a few hours and watch what should be an excellent football game this evening.

Game time is at 7 PM central time. Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford is the guy to watch tonight for Kansas City Chiefs' fans. If the Lions and Rams are somehow dense enough to pass over Sam Bradford in this year's draft, then I think Bradford has to become a Chief.

Oh, and there's this Tebow guy playing too. Should be fun to watch.

What's your prediction? I've got Oklahoma by at least 10.

Do you think tebow is going to be a stud in the nfl ?He seems like a leader for sure, but I think he is just a gym class hero.

OU by two tds.

Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?

you guys started that big lead thing before the OU game the other day

and I told you it was going to be close. I say this thing will go down to the wire.

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

10 points sounds good, I dont know, I can see Bradford falling a strong possibility. Very good chance Lions will go with one of the big Tackle Prospects, and the Rams seem to be a lock to take a tackle as well.

I am a little worried that Florida will start fast

and put some pressure on Bradford. I am anxious to see how he responds to it. If the Chiefs draft him, he could see a lot of it next season.
There are lots of pro prospects to get a look at in this game. McShay on the radio this morning said something like 15 or so. I am pumped!

Very true

at least we got a Nat’l Championship game with two of the most talented teams, if we didn’t get the most deserving (Utah). If we pass on Bradford, I would love to draft Brian Johnson from Utah. Really impressed me the other night, and I think he could be had with a 7th rounder.

It won't happen until 2011

Per Roger Goodell.

The draft is structured now so that those at the top become super, super rich before even stepping on the field. With an uncapped year coming up, Goodell said the draft structure wouldn’t change until at least 2011. So they can become filthy rich very early until then.

Okay, I've Got To Ask

What the fuck is the deal with the reverse play clock Fox is showing at the bottom of the screen? Can’t they just do a goddamned play clock that counts down to zero instead of going backwards just so they can be all clever and different?

I’ve hated Fox’s football coverage ever since they started displaying that stupid fucking Transformer on their pro games. Fox sucks.

Seriously, I cannot say enough how much I hate the Fox television network. It’s not just that they often cater to the lowest common denominator (the neoconservatives) with their “news” shows, it’s that they suck at so much of what they do in everything else as well.

He's Got To Be Better Than Kevin Costner In "Robin Hood"

Most of the other Germans in “Valkyrie” have British accents…Robin Hood with an American accent was truly pathetic. One of the worst acting performances I ever saw…it was the point at which I knew Costner was on the way down.

Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

by UCrawford on Jan 8, 2009 8:38 PM CST up reply actions

I Was Laughing My Ass Off At That Film

It was such a pathetic movie and Costner was sooooo out of his depth in that part. I remember that the head of Morgan Creek Productions was actually the one who overruled the directors and cast him because he wanted a lot of “star power”.

There was a TV version of Robin Hood that came out about the same time with Patrick Bergen and Jurgen Prochnow (both German actors) and even they could do better British accents than Costner. It was a much better film too.

The Funniest Thing About That Film

Was that Slater outperformed Costner. And Christian Slater is a terrible actor…every role he plays is a parody of Jack Nicholson.

by UCrawford on Jan 8, 2009 8:43 PM CST up reply actions

Yup

He can’t help himself I guess. Even his off-screen persona seems to be a parody of Nicholson. I guess “Carnal Knowledge” and “Chinatown” left indelible impressions of the kind of actor he thought he had to be.

Difference Of Opinion

I like everything else he’s done…“True Romance” just didn’t do it for me. The best things about that film for me were the cameos (forgot to mention Val Kilmer as Elvis…which I enjoyed). The main characters in the show just annoyed me.

By the way, Tony Soprano was one of the hitmen in that film. :)

Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

by UCrawford on Jan 8, 2009 8:54 PM CST up reply actions

Yup

I wonder what Gandolfini’s going to do with himself in the future. It’s gotten tougher to typecast actors like happened with the guys who played Superman and Fonzie, but can anyone who watched the show really go to a film with James Gandolfini in the future and not think “Hey, that’s Tony Soprano” ?

Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

by UCrawford on Jan 8, 2009 8:59 PM CST up reply actions

That's Not To Take Away Anything From Gandolfini

He’s a very talented actor…but his career pre-Sopranos was as a character actor and a character actor’s strength is often his relative anonymity and ability to slip into the role so the audience sees only the character and not the actor. Don’t know that he can do that any more now that he’s played one of the most memorable characters in the history of television.

Too long.

I would prefer a 1 possession each from kickoff and then sudden death for both the NFL and NCAA

by DThomasReigns on Jan 8, 2009 10:09 PM CST up reply actions

Better than NFL OT

by cmpotter on Jan 8, 2009 10:08 PM CST up reply actions

NFL is horrible

A foot race or Indian Leg Wrestling would be more entertaining than the NFL

by ashleylat on Jan 8, 2009 10:09 PM CST up reply actions

D.Sproles!

Thats who the Chiefs need!

by ArrowDread on Jan 8, 2009 10:13 PM CST up reply actions

Speaking of Sproles

I would love to sign him this year, but he would cost too much for a double backfield and too expensive to risk on returns.

by DThomasReigns on Jan 8, 2009 10:13 PM CST up reply actions

Good late 2nd or 3rd rnd.

Adds a little more size he might be like Steve Smith of Santana Moss.

I think

he’s too small to ever be an NFL WR.

by Chris Thorman on Jan 8, 2009 10:13 PM CST up reply actions

He kinda reminds me of Eddie Royal

smallish, but good athlete. Could he be a good slot receiver?

by TheQ on Jan 8, 2009 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

You heard wrong.

He snapped, held, cured babies, impregnated the 2nd coming of Christ, than kicked it.

He is Superman!

by cmpotter on Jan 8, 2009 10:35 PM CST reply actions

Say what you want about Tebow at the next level

He manned up early in the season and he is a winner. I really want to see how he plays in the NFL as a QB.

I hope some team doesn’t convert him to TE.

by DThomasReigns on Jan 8, 2009 10:36 PM CST reply actions

Oh god

the reach-around has begun

by ArrowDread on Jan 8, 2009 10:36 PM CST reply actions

I hope Tebow becomes the poster boy for the GOP

Just to make sure.

I liked what I saw from Bradford.

Even in a loss, the guy made some great throws.

by KCScuba on Jan 8, 2009 10:41 PM CST reply actions

Agree

I think his defense finally wore down and that was the difference.

by TheQ on Jan 8, 2009 10:42 PM CST up reply actions

I don't see how you can put this loss on Bradford

Throws for almost 300 yards… both picks were completely in the hands of his receivers.

by KCScuba on Jan 8, 2009 10:43 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not

I agreed with you about Bradford. I was saying that Florida’s D was better than Oklahoma’s in my opinion. I think that was the difference.

by TheQ on Jan 8, 2009 10:51 PM CST up reply actions

OH that has to be a mistake

by cmpotter on Jan 8, 2009 10:43 PM CST reply actions
