After at least a week of unending anxiety over the Chiefs' GM search, I'm finally ready to settle down for a few hours and watch what should be an excellent football game this evening.
Game time is at 7 PM central time. Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford is the guy to watch tonight for Kansas City Chiefs' fans. If the Lions and Rams are somehow dense enough to pass over Sam Bradford in this year's draft, then I think Bradford has to become a Chief.
Oh, and there's this Tebow guy playing too. Should be fun to watch.
What's your prediction? I've got Oklahoma by at least 10.

Its going to be good
Do you think tebow is going to be a stud in the nfl ?He seems like a leader for sure, but I think he is just a gym class hero.
OU by two tds.
Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?
you guys started that big lead thing before the OU game the other day
and I told you it was going to be close. I say this thing will go down to the wire.
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

More of a halfback,
Dude from the Skins style?

Yep, that be him.
All this Pioli speculation, I am about to burst!

Flordia in a close one.

Are you one of them retarts?:)

10 points sounds good, I dont know, I can see Bradford falling a strong possibility. Very good chance Lions will go with one of the big Tackle Prospects, and the Rams seem to be a lock to take a tackle as well.
Bradford.
Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?
Bradford of course
No question, no hesitation.

I am a little worried that Florida will start fast
and put some pressure on Bradford. I am anxious to see how he responds to it. If the Chiefs draft him, he could see a lot of it next season.
There are lots of pro prospects to get a look at in this game. McShay on the radio this morning said something like 15 or so. I am pumped!
Oh theres no way all 32 teams do not have at least one rep at the game
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
Very true
at least we got a Nat’l Championship game with two of the most talented teams, if we didn’t get the most deserving (Utah). If we pass on Bradford, I would love to draft Brian Johnson from Utah. Really impressed me the other night, and I think he could be had with a 7th rounder.
reminds me of Texas v USC

Yeah, that was a great game
One of the best Championship games I ever watched. I think this will be a good one!
agents
I think the agents are telling these guys you better take what you can now cuz the nfl money tree is getting cut down soon for rookies
very possible
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.
"But what do I know, I’m like an empty room with a large ECHO"
It won't happen until 2011
The draft is structured now so that those at the top become super, super rich before even stepping on the field. With an uncapped year coming up, Goodell said the draft structure wouldn’t change until at least 2011. So they can become filthy rich very early until then.
get your money now
Well I would rather be paid now then get hurt and lose out and Im pretty sure unless your and idiot like matt leinart you stay another year . That guy lost millions by staying he is he biggest example why you should not stay when the money is calling.
I might be out of my skull
gene upshaw I give him props that he gave these players some money ,ok thats cool but he fucked up the entire system now guys are way over payed every draft pick is a huge risk and teams cannot even recover because if your in the lions shoes you are constantly paying for over priced players and you fall way above the cap and I might be out of my skull but i have the balls to say it fuck gene upshaw he was a raider and you cant give a raider power . look up matt millen or our fav person al davis .
Not about having the balls to say it
It’s about being insensitive enough to say it.

Okay, I've Got To Ask
What the fuck is the deal with the reverse play clock Fox is showing at the bottom of the screen? Can’t they just do a goddamned play clock that counts down to zero instead of going backwards just so they can be all clever and different?
I’ve hated Fox’s football coverage ever since they started displaying that stupid fucking Transformer on their pro games. Fox sucks.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
They're trying to show how quick OU gets the snap off
Bigger question, the fuck is the deal with the cheesy Fox robot?

Seriously, I cannot say enough how much I hate the Fox television network. It’s not just that they often cater to the lowest common denominator (the neoconservatives) with their “news” shows, it’s that they suck at so much of what they do in everything else as well.

He's Got To Be Better Than Kevin Costner In "Robin Hood"
Most of the other Germans in “Valkyrie” have British accents…Robin Hood with an American accent was truly pathetic. One of the worst acting performances I ever saw…it was the point at which I knew Costner was on the way down.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
I Was Laughing My Ass Off At That Film
It was such a pathetic movie and Costner was sooooo out of his depth in that part. I remember that the head of Morgan Creek Productions was actually the one who overruled the directors and cast him because he wanted a lot of “star power”.
There was a TV version of Robin Hood that came out about the same time with Patrick Bergen and Jurgen Prochnow (both German actors) and even they could do better British accents than Costner. It was a much better film too.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
Still think

The Funniest Thing About That Film
Was that Slater outperformed Costner. And Christian Slater is a terrible actor…every role he plays is a parody of Jack Nicholson.

True Romance. He was good in that, but still kinda Jack
by DThomasReigns on Jan 8, 2009 8:44 PM CST up reply actions
Yup
He can’t help himself I guess. Even his off-screen persona seems to be a parody of Nicholson. I guess “Carnal Knowledge” and “Chinatown” left indelible impressions of the kind of actor he thought he had to be.

But True Romance is one of my all time favs
by DThomasReigns on Jan 8, 2009 8:46 PM CST up reply actions

Tarantino wrote both and did TR before PF.
by DThomasReigns on Jan 8, 2009 8:49 PM CST up reply actions

Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?
Difference Of Opinion
I like everything else he’s done…“True Romance” just didn’t do it for me. The best things about that film for me were the cameos (forgot to mention Val Kilmer as Elvis…which I enjoyed). The main characters in the show just annoyed me.
By the way, Tony Soprano was one of the hitmen in that film. :)
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
Yup
I wonder what Gandolfini’s going to do with himself in the future. It’s gotten tougher to typecast actors like happened with the guys who played Superman and Fonzie, but can anyone who watched the show really go to a film with James Gandolfini in the future and not think “Hey, that’s Tony Soprano” ?
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
That's Not To Take Away Anything From Gandolfini
He’s a very talented actor…but his career pre-Sopranos was as a character actor and a character actor’s strength is often his relative anonymity and ability to slip into the role so the audience sees only the character and not the actor. Don’t know that he can do that any more now that he’s played one of the most memorable characters in the history of television.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
Oh, And
Dennis Hopper’s scene was really good.
It’s funny…there were a lot of scenes I really liked in that movie but the movie itself I didn’t like at all. Guess the whole wasn’t greater than the sum of its parts for me.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.
I respect that.

just wait for the pac 10 tourney
they changed the rule for Oregon so now all 10 teams get to go. Watch as we turn it on for a weekend!
Was it a bullshit call?
Absolutely. It was an absolutely horrible call and it cost them a game which in most seasons means a chance at the National Title.
If I remember correctly by the middle of that week he told the Sooner Nation to get over it and move on.
44 yarder is a chipshot?
Not at all and it was two bad calls. I don’t blame Stoops for being pissed but he also told everyone to get over it after it became too big of a deal.

I was at the Mizzou Nebraska game in ’97…the kick. Was a blast since I was just there and not really rooting for either team.
I think the Opening Cerimonies...
has ruined all marching bands for me. After seeing what China can do, I can’t get up for the Gator band. They need the Marching Cobras out there.
Proud to be a part of the Conference of Champions and their complete bowl season domination.
Maybe they just need the threat of torture and their families execution. It did work for China. :)

Opening ceremonies changed my life!
Completely shifted my perspective and changed my opinion of China
+1 OU band for Tommy tunes
and i thought they only knew boomer sooner

Ugh
Never liked any half time show in my life.
Except, I think it was a Super Bowl in Arizona, when Michael Jackson came up from the middle of the stage.
Arrowhead needs the Marching Cobras!
With no more TD Pack band, and Arrowhead trying to embrace the college experience, we need to work a deal with Cobras, get them out there. Hopefully we wont have to sit through anymore Jazzercise half time shows
Watching The "When Did You Become A Gator" Ad
My great uncle used be a Gator…he was a chemical engineer and invented several new types of asphalt. Used to send us Florida Gators crap all the time…people who came to visit could never understand why we had Florida Gators plastic cups when none of us came from there (or even visited as far as I know).

Left all of his money to the university. Which kind of pissed off my great aunt. :)

Nope
Rabid Gators fan. She kept telling him that she didn’t want his money…she didn’t think he would take her seriously. :)
She was just fine, though…he left her some other stuff. She’s in her late 90s now and still going strong.

Keyboard shortcuts.
Press C to tab through new comments, Shift-C to tab backwards, X to mark a comment as read, and Shift-A to mark all read.

Anybody think the defenses would be dominating this game?
Not me. Shows what a month of preparation can do for you.

I'm Really Not
I’ve had it before and I like it okay, but I’m more of a beer snob. :)

Had the Boulevard SmokeStack IPA
two days ago. It was one of the best beers I’ve had in a long time and I don’t generally like IPAs.

I'm A Big Fan Of Ad Astra Ale
I also like Belhaven’s (Scottish beer) and Shipyard (made in Maine). But my favorite beer of all time is still Red Cuillan (amber ale made on the Isle of Skye). Best beer I’ve ever had. Of course I can’t even get it ordered to Kansas.

You're killing me
What I would give for a Fat Tire right now!
Speaking of Fat Tire
Definitely try The Mothership Wit. One of the best Wheats I’ve ever had.

I'll Keep That One In Mind
Never heard of it before.
If you ever come across an import called “Monty Python’s Holy Grail”, though, it comes with my highest recommendations. It’s brewed near where I used to live in England. One bar here in Wichita had it on their menu for about a month, then discontinued it. I was sooo pissed.

It's at Specs here in Austin
I’ll definitely try it my next time there.

Good Deal
Don’t drink it out of the bottle…use a pint so it can breathe some.
I think the alcohol level in them is a little lower over here, though…had five of them at the brewery when we did a big dinner there and I was under the table. Man, was I fucked up. :)

Beer yum...German Beer..slurp...slurp...
Best beer I ever had was a liter of “The Maibock” (an amber lager with wonderful flavors of toffee, caramel, and rich malt)
The Maibock only makes one appearance annually in early April. Was lucky enough to be in Buvaria during its special appearance.
Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.

Best beer I've ever had
Cesky Budvar. Brewed in Czechoslovakia. They have it in Germany and it’s sold in some specialty Liquer Stores. The original Budwiser. Nothing like the American version.
Fat Tire's Good
They serve big ones on special at Hooters. Which was, as far as I can tell, the only reason for me to ever set foot in Hooters.

I Love Guinness
I don’t drink it much here, though…it really doesn’t travel well. And most places don’t have it on draught.

Enough about Tebow…sweet moses
Yeah, Tebow is showing why he is so tough
Chris is right. Best college player I have seen in forever. I know there are others, but I can’t think of them.
He is one of those super freak athletes
but I don’t think he is quite the leader that Tebow is. He is phenomenal.
I'd take Dixon on the Chiefs

Thanks FOX!
Next year could you not bid on the National Championship Game. Who are these guys?

Maybe Paul McGuire could do it nest year.

I wouldn't say dreamy
but Tebow is impressive as a player and a person. I like the kid a lot.
9th blocked kick of the year for them?
No way anything close to that has happened in the NFL.

So he has nothing to do with them running on 3rd down every time.
He has a little to do with it.

Don't say Stoops blowing another one
Until Pinkel gets to one.
It wasn't pretty.
We need to learn how to play some D. With 4 projected NFL players on that D, I just don’t understand it?
Ooops
Turns out I was cheering the wrong team, according to the wife I’m meant to be a Sooners fan apparently.
Blame my wife!
Did you hear about the guy

Yet another chance for OU
if they lose they should look straight in the mirror
Until the Big 12 starts showing up in BCS games as a conference, we need to stop complaining about the lack of respect.
It seems like so many years in BCS and Non-BCS bowl games the Big 12 lays down overall.
If we don't take a QB in the 1st, I wouldn't mind taking Tebow in the 3rd or later.
I really admire his will to win.

Why? Too entertaining or too fair?
College OT is the only way

Too long.
I would prefer a 1 possession each from kickoff and then sudden death for both the NFL and NCAA

What Tebow is ground player of the game so far?
Chris Brown has more yards

Say what you want about Tebow at the next level
He manned up early in the season and he is a winner. I really want to see how he plays in the NFL as a QB.
I hope some team doesn’t convert him to TE.
I hope Tebow becomes the poster boy for the GOP

but it sure looked like he came over the top on that.
I liked what I saw from Bradford.
Even in a loss, the guy made some great throws.
I don't see how you can put this loss on Bradford
Throws for almost 300 yards… both picks were completely in the hands of his receivers.
