Reports that Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli turned the Browns off with his "outrageous demands" were absolutely false, multiple sources close to the situation told The Plain Dealer on Wednesday.
Browns owner Randy Lerner spent about 10 hours talking to Pioli over the past week and the dialogue was positive, the source said. It was also described by one source as more "exploratory" than actual negotiating.
First time I've heard the Browns/Pioli talk wasn't that serious.
And we wait for official confirmation of the hire...

I believe Lerner has bothced this whole process from the beginning
running his mouth in the media so much, so soon. He isn’t one of the big time names in ownership (Hunt, Jones, Bowlen, Rooney and so forth) but he sure proved he wants to be. I think he thought just because he opened the positions up everyone in the game would beg to work for him and he found out he is not that big a fish in the sea.
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.
