The Coaches Poll

Well, I think that most of us have determined that our Chiefs are at the very least likely to replace Herm Edwards as head coach sometime this offseason.

So I have put together a poll with the names of some of the rumored candidates that we have heard about in our rumor/speculation mill.  Notice, I did not put a "Retain Herm" option on there, in part because I think that the speculation has gone so far that it doesn't make sense to keep a lame duck Herm on as HC (though he might have a place on the coaching staff if he'd be so willing).  I also did not put Cowher on the list because all indications are that he won't be available until 2010 and I am keeping this relevant to our current offseason.

Mike Trgovac is a consideration for the coaching staff in some capacity

Bill Parcell’s: "You are what your record says you are."

Thigpen WILL NOT be the Chiefs starting QB next year IMO. He can compete for the job and should be 2nd or 3rd string.

Mike Trgovac DC, Hugh Jackson OC, Chan Gailey HC

Im still for Herm!

I know I’m gonna get bashed and I’m not gonna try and back it up. Just my opinion.

As far as the other ones go, I wouldn’t mind any of them except Shanahan. I have never liked the guy and although may be a great coach, he will always be a Donkey to me!

Is Pasqauloni a joke

Or has he really been linked to the job?

Yup

He’s been speculated about. I’m with you though. I don’t get it.

by Buck'O on Jan 22, 2009 9:54 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Who cares

As long as it isn’t Herm or some unproven source. I don’t care who coaches the team next year. Hell I vote for UCrawford or Lanier63 as coach. Just don’t let it be Herm.

Ok guys let me introduce you to the Wing T formation

We will also run an unbalanced line that has only 1 receiver on the right side of the center. Passing will not be an option until we are losing and at that point the game really wont matter much anymore. We will not run the ball in the first two quarters so we can throw the defense off a little. Our defense will feature all defensive backs playing 14 yards off the line. This will be a new twist to playing defense. More to come tomorrow.

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Ok already, if you don't agree with what I am saying, just don't email my mom again. She beat the crap out of me with my keyboard!

LMAO

I have to say you know your stuff Lanier. The whole thing sounds a little shaky though. Might I suggest an all man to man coverage D? Screw these stupid zone schemes. And a full time trips set on Offense.

That's what wins me Super Bowls in Madden.

I do spread the Offense around a bit more than that though.

I propose the Wildcat Wildcat formation

In this formation, Tyler Thigpen lines up as the Tight End. Dwayne Bowe is QB and Jamaal Charles is RB. Basicall the ball is snapped to Charles who runs right. He then flips it back to Thigpen who passes backwards to Bowe who runs left at the beginning of the play. Bowe then finds Tim Grunhard downfield for a deep fly route(he will come out of retirement and be lined up as an eligible receiver).

We will retain Herm as OC.

I have an idea that doesnt even use a center!

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Sweet.

I just want to be your DC. Hell I’d take Special Teams Coach. I can do it. I played in Jr. High. LOL

I'd also

Run us on a 5-3-3 defense. LOL That’s what we always ran at my school.

Write "Wing T" on a piece of paper

and hold it up in front of a mirror and behold. You’ll see that it says “Tampa 2”

by Buck'O on Jan 22, 2009 9:56 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Drop the doobie.

Herm is gone. Or don’t you think we’d be hearing about coacing interviews for the coaches we’d already lost before Gun? It’s either that or they (Clark & Scott) aren’t going to let Herm anywhere near staffing decisions anytime in the near future.

By the way Herm would be a DC not an OC unless you’re being facetious.

by meandean on Jan 22, 2009 3:52 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I think it's safe to say

that since the OC comment came in a post that involved Tim Grunhard catching a pass from D-Bowe that it would fall under “being facetious”.

Ten sacks in a season! For crying out loud that's what I used to average per game using DT in Techmo Bowl!

Good Point

I wasn’t going to mention the fact that he is the coach at Meige, and remind CBaller that because Grun(t)hard was an Offensive lineman he probably also had brick hands and would drop it anyway. LOL

by meandean on Jan 22, 2009 4:38 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Forget Bowe to Grunhard...

Bring back the Chiefs most effective TD duo of the 90’s (percentage wise)….

MONTANA TO JOE VALERIO!!!!!!

Now that’s change you can believe in.

Jon Gruden,

so that we can collect every single bad-to-slightly-above-mediocre QB out there.

Hell, we could just go for a roster of 53 quarterbacks! No one would know what our offense would be, just that we better not run the football (or use Croyle as a TE or possession WR. Or a RB or FB. Or at QB. Maybe we could play him on the O-line? You know, give Thigpen some extra motivation to run for his life…).

LMAO LMAO!!

I love it!

just keep matriculating the ball down the field !

by SoCalChief on Jan 22, 2009 9:45 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Don't we already

have a ton of crappy QB’s? And we didn’t have to have Gruden to get them. Thanks Carl & Herm.

by meandean on Jan 22, 2009 11:46 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Oh, yeah,

we have quite the collection already. With Gruden, we could complete the set with guys like Luke McCown, Brian Griese, and anyone else who you want to nominate from the bad-to-slightly-above-average QB category. Come on, who wants just a few collectibles when you can complete the whole series?
