Detroit Lions Hire Gunther Cunningham

Via MyFox Detroit:

The Detroit Lions hired former Kansas City Chiefs coach Gunther Cunningham to be their new defensive coordinator. The move was announced Wednesday morning. Terms of his contract were not disclosed. Cunningham is a 40-year coaching veteran on the college and pro level and represents the first major hire by newly installed Lions coach Jim Schwartz. Cunningham was Kansas City's head coach from 1999-2000 and the Chiefs' defensive coordinator in 1995-98 and 2004-08. He also served alongside Schwartz on the Tennessee Titans staff. He'll set about trying to fix one of the league's worst defenses, one of the big reasons Detroit didn't win a game last season.

That one

really got layered.=] I’m glad he’s gone but I’m a bit suprised he’s wanted by another team after the way our defense has played. Yes, even the scrub-ass Lions. Hiring him will only make things worse for them IMO.

Good luck, Gunther.

If anyone got a bad rap in KC and didn’t deserve it, it was Gunther. If you ask me, he tried to do too much with a defensive scheme he never truly got on board with. He’s been successful in every other defensive coaching job he’s had. I hope he does well in Detroit.

except for his stint as the Chiefs linebackers coach

this past year.

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Ok already, if you don't agree with what I am saying, just don't email my mom again. She beat the crap out of me with my keyboard!

Big Changes

Man I think some big things are going on behind the shut doors at K.C. , and when ever it is finally announced its gonna be huge. I hope anyway.

Gunther took the detroit job for one of three reasons

1. Schwartz was going to let him coach the D how he wanted to coach it

2. He knew he was going to get fired

3. He knew herm was going to get fired..

Let’s hope #3 is apart of the equation
