Ravens' failure to promote Ryan last year was telling
I read this on PFW in Audible section. Interesting thoughts. Here.
“(Ravens GM) Ozzie Newsome had a chance to elevate (Ravens defensive coordinator) Rex Ryan to head coach last year, and he didn’t do it. What does that tell you? Ozzie is one of the sharpest football guys I know. I don’t care what anyone in that organization says about Rex — I didn’t even have to ask the question. They answered it for me. (Like) Wade Phillips (and)Romeo Crennel, some guys are just meant to be lifelong coordinators.”
I'm not sure if this changes my opinion on whether we should be looking at Ryan, but it is cause for concern. Then again there were statements like this talking about how horrible Spagnuolo interviewed and now he's hired by the Rams who raved about how he blew away the front office in the interview. Should he still be on our HC list? I'd argue even a "lifelong coordinator" would be an upgrade on Herm.

I Think It Means
That Ozzie thought Harbaugh was a better choice, not necessarily that Ryan was a bad choice. Since Harbaugh’s gone to the AFC Championship in his rookie year as coach, I’d say it was a pretty good decision. Of course this also doesn’t mean that Ryan isn’t as good or better, just that he wasn’t the preferred option in one interview.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

all i have to say is ken whisenhunt
you can’t judge ryan just because he was not hired by his employer, whisenhunt was passed on by the steelers and look where he has his team now, and obviously it looks like the steelers made a good hire in mike tomlin as well because it looks like pittsburgh might be meeting the cardinals there

Yup
Teams can only have one head coach at a time, so just because they didn’t choose to hire someone doesn’t mean that person wasn’t as good as or better than who they did hire.

Well.
As a chiefs fan I’m happy with the playoff results. Ray thug/criminal Lewis is NOT going and Kurt is. Should be a fun one.
