I hadn't even considered it, but Pioli has connections to former Syracuse coach Paul Pasqualoni. It's speculation and obviously taking it seriously is contingent upon Herm's exit.

It's An Interesting Idea

Good experience as a head coach (albeit in college) plus he’s working in the NFL now on a successful team. He might be good.

Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

I am a Syracuse graduate and was raised in Syracuse (father worked for the university for 15 years) before I moved to Lawrence. I will tell you right now that Pasqualoni is not the answer. I’m not saying he is as bad as Herm, but he is not a good head coach. There is a reason he was fired. If the Chiefs and Orange keep trading coaches I’m going to put a gun to my head (Greg Robinson). Seriously, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I would rather keep the Germ Edwards for another year and pick a better candidate in 2010. Hopefully it won’t come to that and we can get Spags, Shanahan, Cowher, Marty, Ryan, or Garrett. But please don’t bring Coach P into this. He lived off the success of Coach McPherson.

I'm good

…with any coach not named Herm Edwards because I know he can’t coach. And it’s not that I am a Herm-hater but it is that he is a lousy coach. The best thing ever said about him here by his supporters is “he is not the worse coach ever”. Maybe not but he is one of the most mediocre one’s ever. Please do better.
