VIDEO: ESPN's Michael Smith on Herm Edwards
Here's the video to the FanShot below about Herm Edwards possibly being retained by the Kansas City Chiefs new GM Scott Pioli.

Just fire Gunther! We need a REAL defensive genius in there.
I can stand Herm for one more year of Pioli thinks he’s the guy for the job. All the whiners here no nothing about what it takes to build a Super Bowl team. PIOLI DOES! All you idiots and burn! !! ! !! !

Listen!
Do you all really think we aren’t going to have a much better record if we improve our D in FA and have a good draft with Pioli in the mix now and if we fire Gun in favor of a more creative and effective D-Coord? I don’t need to take a deep breath – all the idiots who think Herm is the worst coach in the world do.

7 or 8 games by a touchdown or less, meh.
Bottom line, we still lost. Not to mention Herm’s decisions cost us a few games! =0 POOF*****

Herm is not the greatest coach ever
I am not saying that. I am saying you are making these comments about a coach in the middle of a rebuilding process!!!! You haven’t even given it a chance. He deserves ONE MORE YEAR assuming we don’t find the perfect fit this year for us.

Will you at least admit that...
Herm continuedly makes bad time out decisions, challenges, and clock management? Would you agree that some of the games this year were lost directly because of Herm and his lack of in-game adjustments. If you know anything about football, you’d have to admit this is true. So what you’re saying is, Herm is NOT the future for the Chiefs? You know it is possible that the Chiefs can find someone to develope the currtent team faster and better than Herm Edwards. I don’t know why everybody thinks Herm is the only guy that can make these guys better. He has shown constantly that he can’t! Clark Hunt did say we were rebuilding, and he liked the direction that Herm was taking the team, but he also said that he expected the team to compete for playoff position. Not necessarily, win the division, but at least be in the hunt, and 2-14 is NOT in the hunt.
He knows that it was HERM because Herm is the guy who decided to take time outs at the wrong time, or not to take a time out when he should! Herm is the guy who loses every challenge! His clock management is THE WORST IN THE NFL (ask anyone from NY)! He looks LOST on the sidelines! Besides, he starts making excuses for Sunday’s lost… the Monday before the game, and, it’s never his fault!
Sorry for writing so much and being so harsh… but I really get into it. I’m a passionate Chiefs fan, and I definitely have my opinions. But we’re both Chiefs fans, and I’ll try to keep that in mind.

I say keep herm get a new QB coach and new DC.....
One great thing about Herm is the players are fully in support of him …. i feel a new supporting cast( and one he wanted in the first place) would do wonders….
with a new DC we dont need last min judgment calls from HERM we win because we keep our leads….
defense wins games and i will keep saying it Gunther is the reason we went 2-14 not
7-9
Lets go Blazers!!!!!
Lets focus on the Draft Chiefs......

+1
Herm Edwards is Clark Hunt's guy. Herm and Carl forced Clark to choose between their differing visions on how to rebuild the Chiefs, and we all see who got their walking papers. Herm's going to be walking the sidelines at Arrowhead in 2009, and possibly even beyond, no matter who the new General Manager is.

A lot of coaches are supported by their players...
Isn’t that sort of… apart of being a coach? C’mon now.
Obviously, Herm isn’t the one reason we went 2-14 . It’s not even Gunther’s fault… or Peterson’s (I do realize that Carl is gone, by the way)! But combine those guys, and you’ve got one HORRIBLE trio. It’s like when the Royals get blown out, and make small mistakes all game long. No, maybe it’s not because of that single mistake that they lost, but rather all of those mistakes together. It’s not like our team has the most potential in the world, but surely we’re better than 2-14!

Agreed
I think most of Herm’s critics realize he is not the only problem with the Chiefs and that firing him alone wouldn’t change anything. But you’re right in that he definitely needs to go because he’s not part of the solution. He’s a rotten game planner, a rotten clock manager, a leader who consistently refuses to accept responsibility and a crap developer of talent (aside from the DBs…his only positive trait as a coach that I can see). There are plenty of other people out there who can do a better job than Herm Edwards, and I have faith in Scott Pioli to be able to find one of them.
Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

Pioli definitely should
He’s a smart guy, a very, very smart guy. I’m sure a guy like him has already made a nice little list of coaches that he’d like to hire.
