David Gibbs, who has been Kansas City's defensive backs coach the last three years and is the son of Texans assistant head coach/offense Alex Gibbs, interviewed today for the vacant secondary position.
Herm granted permission to the Texans for Gibbs' interview.

Thought Herm told his assistants to look
for other jobs? Wow, a major blow to our coaching staff.
Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?
I think he said
They’re free to look for other jobs.
Which, from what I gather, is fairly common. Coaches grant interviews all the time.

+1.
Honeslty, Eric Allen, please stop trying to take every little thing and turn it against Herm. WE get it, you don’t like Herm. But if you try and make every single thing he does out to be the stupidest thing a coach could ever do, you lose credibility. A lot of it.
Cannot tell when someone is being sarcastic?
The whole coaching staff is going to get a overhaul, what difference does it make if Herm grants an assistant permission to interview elsewhere? If something I put down here at AP offends you, when you see my name just do not read my comments.

Herm see's the writing on the wall...
What sucks about that is Gibbs is one of the few coaches that I was hoping to be retained by the next HC, along with Gailey. He did a stand up job on the 3 rookies the past year. We’ll be losing a quality coach if Gibbs signs with another club.
To grant Gibbs permission to speak to other clubs for a similiar position (without some promition, i.e. Asst. HC) with another team, is already a public admission that Herms knows he will not be coming back for ’09 season.
Opinions are like A--holes, everyones got one.

If Pioli is out like some people assume
Why wouldn’t he say so. I really think he wants the job. He gains nothing by keeping quiet, if he isn’t taking the job.
Indecision is the key to flexibility
WBZ in Boston site for whats its worth
Has a video clip saying they think Pioli may be aboard very soon. Click the clip.

I didn't get that out of it
It said he could get back with the Chiefs. All that really means is they are negotiating. The guy in the interview also went on to talk about how he has a safety net in NE. Seems like more of the same really.

Pioli has a rep
as a tough negotiator.
I’d say it’s still in the works. May or may not work out, but neither side’s dealt out a stone deal-breaker.
If I’m right, Herm’s fate for 09 has been decided, one way or the other, unless my marginal scenario is in play: Pioli gets his (college now) HC guy in, but may spend a season on Herm’s staff, coming up to NFL speed, and the detail on that are still being horse-traded.
I’m probably wrong on all counts, but what the hey? Unless there’s an Insider behind one of these handle’s, that’s all anyone here is doing anyway. ;-)
If the O-line isn't built up, a rookie QB is gonna look bad next season. If the O-line is a lot better, Thigpen will look better next season.
A rookie QB drafted at #3 has less than a %5 chance of starting Game one of '09. Slotting holdouts will prevent him from competing with Thigpen.

Possibly...
But I think its more fish or cut bait. They aren’t going to let him Favre them.
