McDaniels at the top in Denver
http://nflnr.com/
It looks as if the players will help select the new coach since they dont have a GM yet.
...Josh McDaniels...is seen as the clubhouse leader in the race to become Denver’s new head coach for the time being.
The Broncos will likely rely heavily on the opinions of multiple veterans within the organization, and given McDaniels championship-caliber resume, the team should embrace him as the head coach if that is the direction Denver owner Pat Bowlen chooses to go.
I cannot for the life of me see how hiring a head coach before a GM makes any sense at all. This could/would be the second team to do this and I think/thought Bowlen was smarter than that.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Hope this makes our GM hire go faster, cannot let Denver
get ahead of us. We want the Pioli Mcdaniels combo here!
Lets hope Clark lets the new GM start fresh, with his guys. Who would want a coach, who has lost twice as many as he has won in KC?

and put it where it belongs...

I’m pretty sure that will seal the deal.

HA!
Hey man, if that’s what tickles Pioli’s pickle, so to speak, then let’s go, Clark. Buck up and take one for the team. Or is that “give one”…?

Two of three teams looking for GM's
are either looking or have hired a HC first. Interesting experiment to say the least, but highly unusual. The third is taking it’s time in hiring one. Sort of sounds like the old childrens story, the tortoise and the hare, doesn’t it.
This isn’t a race.
The Speculathon continues. Hunt and Thum aren’t sitting around waiting, they have interviewed Pioli and apparently they have interviewed Dominik and decided he wasn’t a fit. Second call on Pioli was apparently made for serious talks and trying to work out a deal and contract. That takes time. Hunt and Pioli won’t make announcement until after the playoff games. They don’t want to step on the playoffs this weekend.
Another scenario is that they couldn’t work out a deal and Hunt is waiting to talk to other prospects, but again doesn’t want to detract or bother them because 3 of the 4 of them are in the playoffs. Smart move if that’s it. Why bother them right now and show them the respect in that area. Other teams recognize this and show the same respect to the Chiefs in future dealings and makes them more susceptible to agreeing to deals.
Now let me take this even further out there. Who is to say that Clark Hunt isn’t working out the move of the year. Hunt and Thum are not only working out the deal with Pioli, but with McDaniels as well. Sure McDaniels has interviewed with a couple of other teams but who wouldn’t want to find out who else is interested and what their deal is.

regarding question of coach before GM
the fans have hardly stopped to ask this question, mostly because we take it for granted that that is the way it should be. But local (denver) reporter Mike Klis addressed the question headon recently, and I agree with most of what he is saying here, and I think he speaks for a lot of the fans on this one:
There are a few reasons why Bowlen has made finding a new head coach his top priority. One, Bowlen believes the success of any NFL franchise starts with coaching. Coaches, first. The players, second. Then the people who choose the players.
There are too many players on a roster, too many backgrounds and personalities, for a team to succeed unless there is a solid coach who can meld them together.
And the second reason is, after observing the results of his 2008 draft class, Bowlen is confident his three-headed personnel-management team of Jim Goodman, Brian Xanders and Jeff Goodman are capable of finding the right players. The collection of Ryan Clady, Eddie Royal, Spencer Larsen, Peyton Hillis, Wesley Woodyard and Brett Kern are the primary reasons why the Goodmans and Xanders didn’t follow all those coaches out the door.
Concision in style, precision in thought, decision in life.
