Croyle Versus Damon Versus Simms Versus Huard Versus Brohm Versus Damon Huard-Vote For the Least Crappy QB!

So we all have our opinions. In the last 48 hours on this site I've heard:

  • We should go with Damon, because he's a proven winner with downfield capability and the ability to win while he's winning and if you look at his stats he's better than any other option and after all, games are won with stats.
  • We should go after Chris Simms.
  • We should go after Michael Vick (shudder).
  • We should stick with Brodie one more time.
  • We should trade for Brady Quinn.
  • We should trade for Brian Brohm.

So let's find out how you feel, cats and kittens. Then maybe we can drive some discussion based on majority vote.

Poll
What the hell should we do at the vacuumous hole that is our QB position?
Damon Is the Answer. He's a winner who wins wins while winning! (DAMON HUARD 4 DEITEEZ)

Brodie can get it together! Let Damon start till he gets back, then give him one more chance! (The Glass is half full and we're drowning in it)

Sign Chris Simms (really, who needs a spleen? It doesn't do anything! He's just more aerodynamic now!)
4 votes
Sign Daunte Culpepper. (Let's make absolute sure that his career is over. Because if it's not, it will be when our line gets done with him.)
1 votes
Trade for Brady Quinn. (He's like Brodie, only with a Y!)
15 votes
Trade for Brian Brohm (All of these mid-round QBs can't suck).

Thigpen 4 Life!

None Of The Above

Play Huard, sign the free agent QB option who least repulses us, let Huard compete for his job for the rest of the season (against Croyle, the new signee, Thigpen, or whoever).

i agree

If those are the options, i think that they should play Charles at QB with LJ and Kolby split to either side of him and just announce that we are going to run. Maybe D-Bowe is a quarterback, he was pretty quick to get rid of the ball this weekend

Now that was funny. Well put, skibum :)

I had to vote for

option 2, just because I like the parenthetical the best.

Parenthetical #3

was definitely the best

What the hell

Happened to Erik Ainge? At the senior bowl he looked like the best fit for this offense, just being a caretaker.

J.E.T.S.

He’s now being completely overshadowed by Favre in New York.

I can't stop laughing to vote

I think Brodie can be legit. He showed a lot of guts in the pats game hanging in the pocket and delivering a strike to TG and then getting drilled on third down early on. The shoulder injury was a difficult blow I think that was bad blocking. I am not sure but shouldnt the rb (can’t remember if it was smith or charles) take on the inside rusher first because the outside guy has to take one more step to get to the quarter back? Unfrotunate circumstances and another year without establishing a quarterback will retard the growth of this team even further but (perfect analogy coming) if you are already on the short bus, sitting in the front wont get you to your destination any sooner.

I voted for #2

There really isn’t any other viable option.

They aren't going to give up on Brodie this season

I think thats been made crystal clear by the signing of Ingle Martin or Martin Ingle or whatever the hell his name is. This is a guy they will cut when Croyle comes back and maybe try to get on the practice squad.

So like it or not, when Croyle recovers from the injury, he’ll be the starting guy again, and Im fine with that. But I do think this upcoming offseason we need to be investigating other QB opportunities.

by ChiefDJ on Sep 9, 2008 7:03 PM CDT reply actions

clarification

Investigating other QB opportunities because Croyle can’t stay healthy, not because I dont think he can play.

by ChiefDJ on Sep 9, 2008 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed

Give Croyle the season. I’m not sure how well he’d have to play to keep his job.

He's Not Eligible For The Practice Squad

He’ll have two years of service time. He’s either making a roster or he’s out of the NFL. My guess would be “out of the NFL” considering that nobody hear had ever heard of the guy after he’s been in the NFL for two years.

Then how was he able to be on Tennessee's practice squad?

Not trying to disagree or anything, just wondering how that works. Or does the service time he will receive while a member of the Chiefs take him over the threshold?

Whoops

I was under the impression that he could only be on the practice squad for two years…it’s actually three. My bad.

Back to the "rebuild" theme

I’m happy enough with Huard, who has done well for us every time he steps up to run the offense, until Brodie gets healthy. Let’s stick with him for this year and see if we get a diamond in the rough with one of these new guys signed today. We know we are not competing for the Super Bowl or AFC Championship this year, so lets settle for challenging the players we have to step up and grow into professionals. Next year we can draft and sign free agents or trade if need be and have a real QB competition. If Brodie proves he can hang in the rest of the year, he just may develop into the man we need under center. If not, then at least he had his shot and it didn’t cost us anything. I’m not willing to waste a draft pick or salary cap space on another basket case possibility, or another popularity contest QB. Everyone seems to think the grass is greener and love the guy we don’t have, thinking he is the answer to our problems. I want to win this year just as much as anyone, but I’m willing to win with who we have on the roster. Daemon and Brodie can be our leaders this year and we can still win more games than anyone predicted.

75-word minimum for fanposts

Is for the body, Matt. Not the headline. ;)

I’d be willing to trade a 1st or 2nd round pick for Brady Quinn if our coaches think he fits out system. Yes, we are rebuilding through the draft. Quinn is young enough to count. You just have to decide what we’d be giving up if we kept that high draft pick.

I think Brodie can play. I don’t know if he can survive. Send him to Detroit (General Motors, not the Lions) for a weekend and have him go through the Consumer Reports crash test dummy situations for an evaluation. Have them give us an analysis. If he’s questionable, at least purchase the extended warranty — which I usually avoid like a Raider fan at night after a whompin’.

And hey, Matt… Can you write out some questions for the SAT exam so that people have to think AND be able to stay awake! Good stuff.

HEADLINE: BRODIE DISLOCATES pinky finger in throwing hand.....

while doing his rehab on his dislocated shoulder.

There are some positions on our roster that have great promise for the future, and then there are other positions that we can’t wait to address in ‘09 draft.
I’m a big supporter of “the Brodie plan”, but he is needs time to start developing into a legitmate signal caller. He can’t do that if he’s hurt after 2-3 games. What was the post from the other guys about Brodie’s health issues, its was like 3 injuries in 7 games. AT this rate it’ll take Brodie about 6 years to hit 36 starts.

Lets play him this year (ahem.. if he makes it through the whole year), but we seriously need to start developing an insurance plan. After this year (i.e. a Steve YOung when JOe’s return was questionable. Not that Brodie is comparable to Joe, not yet anyways)
