"It looked dirty to me," said Moss, who was on the receiving end of the pass that Brady threw just before Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard rolled into him, injuring the MVP quarterback's left knee.

Rumors

The rumor, via unnamed sources at NBCSports.com, is that Brady tore his ACL.

Moss is just pissed because he knows he’s only as successful as Brady can make him.

Dirty?

I can’t see how that was dirty.

Blame my wife!

by sir eccles on Sep 7, 2008 5:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No kidding

Sammy Morris was on top of him at the time.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 7, 2008 5:23 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes the play was dirty

The O-lineman laying on top of Pollard had his hand inside Pollards facemask pulling his head back.

It was a good play by Pollard and was pretty remarkable considering he was hauling a 300 lb lineman on his back when he hit him.

Sammy Morris Is 300 Pounds

He runs well for a fat man :)

did you say Jerome Bettis?

Don't forget to send your broken maples to the US Forest Service.

Sounds to me

like he’s turning back into the Moss we all know – stirring things up (trouble, controversy, what ever you want to call it) as much as he can.

by Seth_C on Sep 7, 2008 5:21 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Moss will be sulking all season

He’ll be just like he was with the Raiders, just watch.

If Brady is hurt

Then yes, I completely agree.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 7, 2008 5:27 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dirty my ass!

If anything there should have been a holding call on the Pats, Bernie was giving Sammy Morris a piggyback ride!

Seperated shoulder

Is there a doc in the house, what is the recovery time for this?

by Eric Allen on Sep 7, 2008 5:26 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Did you hear him say it??? To who???

We all listened to the press conference and he didn’t say anything like that

Keep the faith!

He said it to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe

Here is the link from his Reiss’ Pieces with which I’m sure you’re familiar. Great resource.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 7, 2008 5:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thanks for the source...and you're right, Mike Reiss is great

I think everyone just hates to see anyone go down like that. It’s why I hate preseason and agree with the coaches decisions not to play their starters, just so a bunch of rookies and second-stringers duking it out for a roster spot don’t cause a ton of injuries before they get cut.

Keep the faith!

by Marima on Sep 7, 2008 5:35 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Check out the replay before saying anything

Sammy Morris wasn’t “on top” of Pollard until they were down. Pollard wasn’t carrying him on his back, and Morris didn’t have his hand up into his facemask. Watch the replay.

Keep the faith!

by Marima on Sep 7, 2008 5:40 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't think it was dirty

Let me rephrase that – it wasn’t dirty. Pats fans are saying it is because they might have lost their season quarterback on that play which is completely understandable.

A Hit Below The Knee Is Not Illegal

The “hit below the knee” is only a cheap shot when the player is diving for the knee. Pollard wasn’t…he was lunging from the ground towards the player to make a tackle at the legs (which is completely legal) and the knee got rolled up. It was unfortunate but not a cheap shot. Sorry if your QB got hurt, but that’s what happens in football.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

by UCrawford on Sep 7, 2008 5:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I watched the replay the 20 times they showed it during the game.

Morris was on top of him and Pollard was scraping and clawing to get to Brady. He wasn’t intentionally going for the knee to hurt him, which is what he would have had to do for the play to be called dirty.

by ChiefDJ on Sep 7, 2008 5:47 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Morris

was holding him, nothing cheap, but a flag should have been thrown – not that it mattered since Moss thought we needed the ball anyway

by PVChiefsfan on Sep 7, 2008 8:58 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep

Just as I thought Morris was on his legs. Thanks for sharing.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 7, 2008 5:50 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thats crap!

Pollard was trying to get to Brady, Brady stepped up while Pollard was fighting with Morris, Morris fell on top of him as the hit was applied. Not a cheap shot, just unfortunate coincidence.

by Eric Allen on Sep 7, 2008 5:45 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Now the question is

Was Brady’s knee really what was screwed up, not the foot?

by Eric Allen on Sep 7, 2008 5:49 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

None of us know for sure

but I think it’s the knee since that’s what they were poking at on the sidelines, and a guy can still walk with a torn ACL (even though I don’t know that’s what Brady has…more speculation.)

Keep the faith!

by Marima on Sep 7, 2008 6:00 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Perspective

And before all you AP guys get bent out of shape about the “cheap shot” comments, just keep in mind that you’ll hear this sort of thing all the time whenever a QB gets hurt. Happened to the Steelers when Carson Palmer got knocked out on a legitimate tackle where the tackler was blocked down into Palmer’s knee. You just tend to hear it more often when the QB is more prominent.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

by UCrawford on Sep 7, 2008 5:50 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

And

And you’ll hear it more when that player’s injury could change the landscape of an entire conference.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 7, 2008 5:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just One Of Those Things

I remember when the Eagles thought they were Super Bowl contenders in 1991 and Randall Cunningham got knocked out on one of the first plays of the game when Bryce Paup hit him on a tackle. Just one of those things that happens. Just because a player is great doesn’t mean he’s immune to getting hurt.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

DID ANYBODY THINK ON THE FOURTH AND GOAL PLAY THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PASS INTERFERENCE ON DELTHA ONEAL??

by kcchiefsfan56 on Sep 7, 2008 5:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Yes, I did

O’Neal pretty obviously held Bowe’s right arm down.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 7, 2008 5:53 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed

They had 1st and goal at the 5 with a timeout.

First thing they should have done was send Charles on a sweep to the outside and let him use his speed. Worst thing that happens is he gets tackled in bounds and they have to use the timeout. But could also have gotten out of bounds to stop the clock or gasp gotten it into the endzone.

by ChiefDJ on Sep 7, 2008 6:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah 4 passes by Huard

was not a good idea. (I am counting the play that was negated by the Patriots timeout because we ran the very same play next)

by KC FAN IN CA on Sep 7, 2008 6:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

dead on

Like the old days when we got inside the 5… toss sweep to Priest. If that doesn’t work, do it again, you have 4 downs.

I don’t know what they were doing… we had time and a time out. That was one situation where it made sense to try to pound away. Instead we usually decide it’s good to pound it away when we’re on our own 30 and are down by 7.

To answer the original post, yes, total Pass Interference. He was holding his arms down and pushing him away from the pass. I don’t know how the ref didn’t manage to see that, he was standing right there.

I also don’t know how they got away with not getting a safety earlier in the game when we had them pinned at the 1/2 yard line. Did anybody see how they got the call correct in Indy tonight (SNF)? The ENTIRE BALL has to break the plane of the end zone. I’m still looking for a replay out there of that… maybe I’ll go back on my DVR and see if I can tell.

by Ochophosphate on Sep 7, 2008 9:14 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

+100.

My thoughts exactly.

Agree completely.

Run the ball, run the ball, run the ball. Then, if you are under 0:20 and have no TOs, feel free to throw the fade route to D-Bowe.

But it made little sense to try and force in passes when we had THAT much time left on the game clock.

by rockchalk on Sep 7, 2008 10:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I loked at it twice no angle from directv

You can’t really tell if the ball is past the line because of the angle. I think the refs called that game in favor of the pats. I am not saying we did’t lose but it made it tougher. The safety wouldve put us up 2 and we wouldve scored first with the ball back… totally different outcome. with Pat’s brady-less (sad to see don’t wish anything like that on anyone… not even a raider) and us controlling the ball and defense playing that way I think we wouldve won the game. However we shouldve scored and atleast got overtime from that drive I am excited for this year and looking forward to the AFC West title. Callin it now Norv Turner is going to bring down the Chargers like he did the Raiders. The Donk’s and Raiders might do something but we will find out tomorrow.

On a side note on the darling catch my wife said “Oh no if only he was faster” I said “he is suppposed to the fastest rec..iver we have……. God that sucks”

Last year when LJ was hurt

did any of the Chiefs players say it was dirty? I think Randy was pissed that his counterpart was injured and knows he will not have the year he enjoyed last year, so he lashed out. He may be the only player that is paid by performance and knows the soup line might be calling.

by Lanier63 on Sep 7, 2008 8:15 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The only thing dirty about that is that the Pat’s didn’t get called for holding. How the H—- can Randy Moss see down the field twenty yards away, through all the linemen,? Bionic eyes , I suppose. This from Mr. push-off. It’s too bad Brady got hurt, it’s never good to see a player get hurt, but there was nothing dirty on that play.

by CJ59 on Sep 7, 2008 8:37 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

probably just on replay

there is no way he saw it. He was too busy sliding to avoid a hit and fumbling the ball away. I’m assuming he’s seen the replay 150 times like the rest of us.

He can say whatever he wants, it isn’t going to fix Tom, and nobody in the football world is going to change their opinion based on what he says. It’s not like the league is going to fine Pollard because Moss thinks it was dirty.

He said he saw it when he came back to the locker room.

Thank you Pollard!

Everyone in the AFC and the entire NFL owes Pollard a big thank you for taking out Brady. Hopefully now we wont have to listen to every announcer give him a reach around.

Tom Brady=overrated

One of my keys to the game going in was for the Chiefs D to take out Bradys knee. 5 yards from pulling a miracle!

by C-7PumpkinSmasher on Sep 7, 2008 9:17 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Overrated??

The team that started 18-0 with him last year could barely beat a bottom 5 team without him.

I think that’s proof he’s not overrated.

Do You Even Watch Football Or Do You Just Come Here To Troll?

Brady put up a historic season last year, and he’s put up excellent numbers his entire career while playing with a receiving corps of largely scrubs and #2 receivers. The guy’s a legitimate Hall of Famer.

As for the comment about Brady’s knee, like I said before anyone who cheers for an opponent to get seriously hurt isn’t a fan of football and isn’t worthy of looking down on any other team’s fans. Rooting for your team to do well and rooting for people to suffer serious injuries because you don’t like them aren’t the same thing. After all, it’s not like I cheer for you to slip and fall in the deep fat fryer when you fuck up my order at McDonald’s.

Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Bowe slips

Checking the replay – it looks like he lost his footing making the cut behind O’Neal. If he hadn’t slipped I think he steps up and makes that catch. Interference or not – It was great to be that excited at the END of a Chiefs game.

by Cat Stabber on Sep 7, 2008 9:33 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Either way

that was horrific playcalling. The coaches cost us a chance to tie the game, pure and simple. What? We need 5 yards in 4 plays? We have a top 3 runningback? No, I don’t believe it. There is a ZERO possibility that anyone could not put all of the above together to score a touchdown. Yikes, we have been talking about how improved our o-line will be this year, yet the coaching staff is afraid to use one of the best rb’s in the game to take us 5 yards into overtime. I am disgusted with todays playcalling.

by Ben S on Sep 8, 2008 2:58 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

They probably expected us to run

And they have already proven they can stop LJ.

by Joel Thorman on Sep 8, 2008 5:12 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

LJ is not a top three back.

Our rookie was geting five yards a carry, hello you play to win the game!

Costas and Collinsworth

played the Randy Moss interview. Bob asked Chris what he thought. Chris said it was clean. He said he talked to the league office and they said it was clean. He said it was a horrible comment for Moss to make. Peter King talked to his contacts around the league and they ALL said it was clean.
Good job Collinsworth!!
