Even though the Chiefs were 4-12, DO NOT discount their best in the league third down defense. Teams only converted 31.3% of the time. This is where we need our new RB, LaMont Jordan, to pound the rock. I'd also like to see some options to LaMont and of course, our own best-in-class Kevin Faulk. Smashmouth is the way to handle a defense like this.

I disagree
The Pats playing smashmouth is the only thing that could keep the Chiefs in the game. I don’t get it. Why would the Pats ever play smashmouth? Play to your strengths!

My belief...
…is they loaded up in the running back area to emphasize the running game this year. The addition of LaMont Jordan (5-10 230 lbs) gives them a really good third down/redzone back in additon to the 4 (Maroney, Morris, Faulk, FB Evans) already there. I think teams began scheming against the aerial assault in the latter half of 2007 and in 2008, Belichick is trying to open up a bit.

We are pretty familiar
With Jordan, being with Oakland and all. Plus he he played for Herm in NY, behind Curtis Martin.

Pats are very succesful running the ball
Except they pass to set up the run instead of run to setup the pass.
