Data
Seeing the aggregate data is nice but it would be interesting to see the game data as well so we can see if they are deviating from the season average and by how much.

Tony Gonzalez - a little off topic
I just watched the clip of him being interviewed after the game and I think a few major things stand out:
1. The guy is frustrated with the coaching staff and the management. He made it clear that he disagreed with the decision to keep him from setting the record at home. You could see the disgust on his face and the fact that he and probably no one else likes the coaching staff. Also, when Herm hugged Larry Johnson – Larry Johnson did not look like he wanted to be hugged at all.
2. I think Tony Gonzalez is committed to the Chiefs. I think he appreciates the city and the fan base and won’t give up on us. He’s a class act and I think he’s with us until the end.
3. I think the players rallied around themselves for this win, I think they got motivated themselves and were personally sick of losing. They know that over 16 games, they can’t get that pumped up every game so they did this one for the fans — knowing this is the most important game to us.
Back when Vermeil was coach the players really cared and showed appreciation towards him. I don’t see that anymore. I think they despise Herm and Carl, like the rest of us.

Reading too much into it
I think Tony just wanted the record really bad in that game. Disappointment usually makes you a little angry at the world, and that is how he appears to me. But I think with his rep that if he hated Herm he would have demanded a trade last year.
On LJ I love the fact that he kind of looks like he might be a little mad with the coaches. But I didn’t personally think he looked that way in the instance you are talking about. LJ is an emotion driven running back, he has to feel as if the world is against him and he must prove himself every day. The best thing for the Chiefs is for LJ to look like he just ate something bad, because he is probably going to have a good game.

Is it me or is the Jamaal Charles screen pass for no gain the new Bigfoot swing pass?
Remember when swing passes screen passes were Priest Holmes bread and butter? Remember when our linemen could get out there and actually put a body on somebody?

Telegraphing?
The problem with broadcast TV angles is you are so limited on what you can see. I keep wondering what it looks like on the coaches’ tape. Are they doing something to give the screen away too early or what? The other problem is it seems like the lead blockers always miss a guy and let him get to the running back before the pass is even completed.
One question I have on screen passes is: are the linemen not allowed to block defenders until the pass is completed? I am too lazy and have not had enough coffee yet to look this up on my own.

HA
statistics…the second down running average might be slightly skewed by the longest run of LJ’s career…otherwise, it looks like we could get a first down just by running it twice (I wish we could still do that)

Need more balance
It troubles me that we don’t have more balanced numbers on the downs between run and pass. It looks like to me from the numbers that we are not having the success on first down that we need to have. Thus making it so that we throw all the time on third down.
The first down rushing numbers seem bloated for some reason to me. Just thinking about the games it seems like most of the time when we run on 1st we only get 2-3 yards. Then we try to throw to make up the difference we need, leading us to a lot of 3rd and long situations.
