Willie "Flipper" Anderson
The PARADE realizes this is completely counter-intuitive to our youth movement, but with all our cap room, why aren't we at least 'interested' in Willie Anderson?

Would an extra veteran really hurt?
The PARADE strongly wishes for BA to be success, but why absolutely no interest?
STRONGLY, FOO

I'd Have No Problem With Anderson On A Short-Term Deal
We need a right tackle because Richardson isn’t ready and McIntosh is terrible. Anything that helps keep the QB upright is okay by me.

I Just Wonder
If maybe his injuries are bad enough that he can’t pass a physical. The guy’s taken a lot of abuse, so he may very well be physically unable to perform.

With Baltimore, now he is on his way to Cinci.

Cinci?
I don’t think he’s going back there…NFLN’s saying it’s Baltimore, San Diego and Tampa in the running. Apparently Cinci did tell him they were interested in re-signing him but I think they burned that bridge with how they handled his release.
Honestly, I have no clue what Cincinnati’s management is thinking this year. They’re gutting that team right before the season but there doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason to it. Just incompetent management.

Maybe I don't get it
Didn’t they franchise tag Stacy Andrews earlier this year? Isn’t that a pretty clear indication that Willie Anderson wouldn’t be coming back with a $3 million price tag? Why did both parties let this go so many months?

They Did, But I Think They Realized Their Line Is Still A Complete Mess
They could still use Anderson is the thing…maybe not at tackle, but somewhere. Unfortunately for them, the Cincinnati front office is like King Midas in reverse…everything they touch turns to crap. That’s the problem when the owner is also the incompetent GM, you’re stuck with him.

I think you left off of going back to cinci....
to think about his options.
The PARADE saw the same, and excuses, the PARADE is merciful, the PARADE is fair.

Wasn't it Joey Porter who said...
when asked if he would sign with the Bengals when he was a free agent, response after a sarcastic laugh, “with those strips who would take me serious.”

That's what I say, why not at least give him a look
Maybe he bites on a 1 or 2 year deal, maybe he doesn’t, it just seems foolhardy the Chiefs aren’t even in the picture with all our cap room.

contract
the most likely reason of why the chiefs or no other team has signed him yet is because if they wait till after the first game hos contract is not guaranteed. So by taking the chance and not signing him until monday they are potentially saving what could be a decent amount of money

sign him already...
They say Richarson has the tools to be a legitimate tackle, but he’s still raw. A short term contract makes absolute sense. Plus his example will do wonders for the younger players, knowing what it takes to play in the NFL.
I remember when Marty brought in Mike Webster to play center, during the rebuilding years back in the late 80’s. Grunhard who was just recently drafted, recalled that Webster although being that old (37 yrs. old when he joined the Chiefs) was the first in the wieght room, and the last in the film room.

Mike Webster
Always liked him. It was sad what happened to him after his career was over.
