If last year's Chiefs season
is any indicator, the Patriots will insist that Brady is fine but keep him out the entire season for reasons never revealed to the fans.

Glad I took him in the first round of my money league this year.

He'll be fine
He’s been listed on the injury report as “probable” with a right shoulder injury for about 4 years now.

He's Not Missing The Game
The Patriots in that instance would probably have been looking for another QB to fill in besides Matt Cassel. The report’s interesting, but it’s completely uncorroborated third-hand information presented on a sports channel (WEEI) known for tossing out b.s. just to drum up controversy.
The only definite seems to be that Brady’s foot is less than 100% and that it may affect his play, so the only real question is how much will his play be affected?
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Maybe one of our
Three-hundred pounders just step on the foot, once, maybe twice!

Or better still,
how much time will they play him?
by Lanier63 on Sep 3, 2008 1:20 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nice post UCrawford
I completely agree, he will play, and most likely play well, but he won’t be moving alot so if we can apply some pressure we could make life a little bit harder for him…..that being said i don’t think we win this one unless he is not playing
by IamtheGreatest on Sep 3, 2008 1:14 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
It would be my wish
that we apply so much pressure, that he wants out because he can’t scramble and his receivers are always covered.

OK now after
the foot gets stepped on DJ gives it a little twist on a sack!

If Brady is really hurt
it will be a great test for our young DTs. If he can’t get outside the pocket and #s 72 & 93 can collapse the pocket – good times.

95
is no slouch, and he should get a little more rest with the depth we have now, lets not forget Boone.

Gunther
needs to be given free reign to unleash the dogs in this game. Put the fear of god in Brady.

And put a rookie corner on Moss or Welker one on one?
No thanks.

I'm more concerned with the cushion we'll give
And Brady eating us with quick slant patterns and screens. ‘Course, try the slant one too many times with Donnie and DJ and they’ll pay with a pick. Or one of our safeties could go say hello to the receiver as they’re trying to catch the ball.

A lot of teams
tried to cover Moss last year. The only team to beat them last year did it by getting in Brady’s grill.
by WolfFan on Sep 3, 2008 2:35 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yep
And the team that beat them had, arguably, the best defensive line last year. Our defensive line probably isn’t in the top half of the league.
by Joel Thorman on Sep 3, 2008 2:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
True fact.
It’s exponentially harder for Moss to catch a ball if Brady’s throwing it while laying on his back.

we will have to pressure the QB
if we can’t get it done with 4 linemen, then we will have to blitz. The only way we stayed in that game against INDY last season was by making Manning uncomfortable. If a great QB is comfortable, he will carve you up like a turkey.

Blitzing will burn us
I think blitzing the Pats will burn us in the passing game. I simply do not trust our corners at this point. At least against the best passing attack maybe in history.
by Joel Thorman on Sep 3, 2008 4:06 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I expect it will
but I would rather get burned for a couple of big plays than watch Brady methodically march down the field every time they get the ball.
by WolfFan on Sep 3, 2008 4:27 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yep
we will get murdered if they just methodically put together 10 plays…TD. and 11 plays…TD. Although we went 4-12 last season, we led the league in getting opponents off the field on third downs. We MUST do that.

More info...
…from Mike Reiss, sports writer for the Boston Globe:
In a conference call with Kansas City reporters earlier today, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked if quarterback Tom Brady will play in Sunday’s season opener.
“He’s practicing and I expect he’ll be ready to go,” Belichick responded.
Belichick is ridiculously evasive about this stuff, but I suspect he’ll be playing this Sunday. What the long term outlook is would be anyone’s guess.

FoxSports was making a point today of predicting that the Patriots would be ‘lucky’ to win 10 games this year because of how suspect their O-Line is.
So, if Brady’s playing, he’s going to be doing it with limited mobility. And, if he’s got limited mobility behind a ‘suspect’ O-Line, I’m starting to think that it’s more and more likely that Dorsey and company might have a good chance at putting him on his back more than a few times.

I disagree with Fox
Their offensive line was one of their strong suits heading into ’07. No one questioned their ability much until the Giants game.

Our line is thin.
Starting RG Neal is out 6 weeks with a shoulder. Starting LT Matt Light played only 2 series this preseason coming back from an injury. Starting RT Kaczur has struggled. Starting RG is either going to be Yates (who’s very average) or Hochstein (who is nursing a strained groin). Behind them, there isn’t any talent.
It’s not the same group (though there are a lot of the same names). They’re pretty banged up.

So you’re saying there’s a chance…

Yeah.
That said, if we only win 10 games this year it would be a serious disappointment, post-SB hangover or not. Have you seen our schedule?

Are you guys
worried about a serious drop off this year? Sounds like you all have o-line issues of your own. At least the upside to our o-line problem is that they are young guys, and do not know they are supposed to be bad in the beginning.

I'll leave it to MaPatsFan
to get more specific in his “5 Questions With” segment. But here’s my .02:
Depends what you mean by “serious,” and by “worry.”
Serious: The line isn’t old, just hurt and thin. Well, we’re not going undefeated that’s for sure. We’ll probably make the playoffs, unless Favre makes the New Jersey Favres much better much faster. But unless things firm up along the o-line, we won’t get very far. San Diego and Indy both look very solid.
Worry: I hope we go all the way—as always. But after the run we’ve had, I’m not going to complain if we go 9-7, you know? It’d be a disappointment, but at this point bitching would be an insult to the football gods. I don’t want to go through another season like last year, that’s for sure—it wasn’t even fun toward the end. It might’ve worked out, but NYG punked us.

Did you see the injury report?
Injured right shoulder/foot.
Two things funny about that.
First, after all the media attention given to Brady’s foot, all the Patriots have to say is classify it as “injured”.
Second, how many years in a row is it now that Brady is listed as “Probable” with a right shoulder injury?
by Joel Thorman on Sep 3, 2008 4:08 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Believe it when I see it
I will believe it when I see it. Im hopefull that we will win but I dont believe it one bit that he will be out. Although, if he does, pushing off or going back on passes will bother that foot if in fact it is still injured. He will have problems running for sure so, I wouldnt be surprised if he plays but they run ALOT and do a lot of quick slants and screens just to set up a few long plays to kill us.
